Flea On Puppy After Frontline And Cleaning Entire House

How to prevent dog from rolling around after applying flea medicine?

do i seriously have to watch him for 24 hours until medicine dries? frontline plus. sorry i'm going a little crazy here trying to find a flea solution. my dog does like to roll around on his back. thanks

Should i put my dog outside after treating him with frontline flea medicine?

Will the fleas jump off into the house? Do i need to treat my home and and yard? I was thinking right after the application maybe i should leave him out X amount of minutes cause the fleas are probably going nuts for a little while. Any suggestions?

I have my dog on Frontline plus but she still has fleas crawling all over her. What do I do?

I first noticed fleas on my dog about a month ago. I bought a topical treatment (Zodiac) which I applied 24 hours after bathing the dog with flea shampoo and a house hold spray and treated the entire house. 3 days later she was crawling with fleas again. I took her to the vet and put her on Frontline, shaved her bare and sprayed the house again, and now again, 3 days later fleas are crawling all over her. She goes out only 2x a day for a short while to use the potty. What do i do? Every one says Frontline Plus works so well, but it hasn't done a thing for my poor dog. Help!!!

Should a cat be put outside after a flea repellent is applied so the fleas don't jump off inside the house?

The fleas simply die and fall off. They won’t bother your cat again, so don’t worry about them. However, you may have living fleas (or flea eggs) in your home already. Thorough vacuuming will reduce that danger. If you want to be safe, you can use a special fumigant.Something else: Please don’t be alarmed at the number of people who tell you that you must keep your cat inside. That’s a very American attitude. In other parts of the world, keeping cats indoors is unnecessary, and in many countries it’s considered animal cruelty to keep a cat indoors.Don’t let the answers you received distress you. These people don’t mean to be cruel to cats; they mean well. Many Americans genuinely believe that it’s best for a cat to be indoors. And to some extent they are right, because in many locations in the USA it’s indeed dangerous for a cat to go out, because of traffic, coyotes etc.If you live in a location where it’s safe for cats to go out, let your cat go out and enjoy nature. :-)

My 8 week puppy just got neutered and he has fleas. I can't shower him yet. What can I do?

I personally would go with collecting them by hand/comb and continue combing frequently to find more, but some will find this too tedious to do.When I adopted my dog he was just under a year and I discovered fleas on him. He also had been neutered recently and still had the stitches so I was advised against the wash cleaning.Fleas are tricky little devils and ultra flat shaped so they can weave through the hairs like running through a forest. Also they “pop” jump. Sometimes I could hear the little click as they jumped. I was worried they’d get on me, they didn’t.I kept collecting the fleas and smashing them myself, they’re tricky to smash too — you think you smashed them, but then you lift and they scurry and pop away to be chased down again. It’s more of a stabbing motion required to finish them off.Ended up being only seven on my dog in the end, I put their corpses in a line on my desk as trophies during the week I hunted them. I did a war chant with each successful kill and Zeke got a bit of victory jerky. Presumably I’d have used their blood as war paint on my face, but their blood is so little (and dirty). In case they tried to start up any villages in my house, I vacuumed the carpets and cleaned linens frequently to pick up any eggs they may have left. This was until I could give him a shower with some medicated “tea” shampoo. I never saw anymore after that and don’t think my house was infected, just that he carried some from the foster house. (I did let the lady know)Since then I had used Frontline on and off when I was gung-ho about it, probably didn’t need it though. Zeke is flea free.

Borax for treating fleas?

Borax is one of the best things in the world for a flea infestation.
You sprinkle in under the couch cushions, between mattresses and protectors (or sheets, but that isnt advisable), under rugs, etc.
It destroys fleas, flea eggs, flea larvae, and nearly anything else. It is highly toxic and has no antidote since its not a poison-a small amount will easily kill a child or animal.
Its one of the many things that 99.9% of the population has no business using.

We also use it to get the meat off of turkey wings. You just pour borax all over them and leave them outside for a day or two-all the meat is gone and bone is clean. It should be a last resort, but an exterminator would be better.

A protected dog and an exterminator is a much better route. Just be sure to vacuum after the spraying and either dispose of the bag or if bagless cut up a flea collar in the container and clean thoroughly.

How do I kill all of the fleas in my house?

Thanks for the A2A. There’s a number of things you can do to eliminate your fleas, and all can usually be done at the same time for really tough infestations:Get a flea treatment for your dog from a vet. This is the most important thing you can do. These are more expensive than the cheaper brands you can get at Walmart or a pet store. I’ve tried the cheap brands, and they do not work very well. In fact, the several times I’ve tried the cheaper ones, they did not work at all for me. In a cooler climate than Houston where I live, they may work better.Buy a carpet spray that kills fleas. I usually get a house spray from Home Depot or Lowe’s that kills fleas in lieu of a carpet spray. If you have a tough infestation, you should probably do the carpet spray instead.Flea bomb the house with something from the vet or from Home Depot or Lowe’s. You’ll need to get all your pets out of the house for the several hours this takes. Sit on the back patio and read a book or stare at your iPhone or text somebody for several hours.Get a flea collar from your vet. If you’re using the flea treatment from the vet, make sure you can also use the flea collar. Your vet can advise you.If you let your dogs outside, which is almost certain with dogs, you may need to treat the yard with an outdoor spray. This may kill beneficial insects, so I would only do this as a last resort. Fleas spend most of their time off the dog, either in your house or in the yard.Either dip your dogs in a flea dip solution, or give them a flea bath. Make sure you can do that in conjunction with the flea treatment from the vet. If you do it, bathe or dip the dog before applying the flea treatment from the vet.I live in Houston, which is as bad a flea environment as you will find anywhere, and August is the peak month for the heat and for fleas. I have cats and use a vet supplied treatment for cats. I also use a house spray that kills fleas. I keep my cats indoors all the time. That is all I usually need to do to keep the fleas under control. In fact, I usually do not treat the cats with the flea medication during the winter months. If your dogs have had fleas for a while, they may have worms as well. The vet can check them for you, and give you a worm medication if needed.

Why could your dog be scratching after a flea treatment?

If it’s right after applying it, there are chances the dog is responding to the dying fleas which may get irritable and crawl around their coat more. Other possibilities are that the fleas are not actually being all killed if you are not also treating the environment. When I used to work for the vet, we used to sell bottles of Ovitrol to kill all life stages of fleas as the topical treatment only kill the adults ones. Here are some more troubleshooting tips: Why is my flea treatment not working.
