Fortisip Or Ensure Nutritional Drinks Taste

Does adding water to a drink or food lower the calories, sugar & other nutritional content?

It depends how you go about this. If you take a can of something, let’s say you have a 250ml can of soda. You pour that into a glass and add 250ml of water. At the end of the day you are consuming 500ml of liquid, but still getting all the calories, sugar, etc, in the 250ml can of soda. It might take you 5 minutes to drink all of it rather than 2 minutes, but you’re still consuming the same amount of nutritional value. But let’s add some more variables. Maybe, throughout a period of time you drink half a liter of liquid. Now, instead of consuming 2x250ml cans of soda, you have only consumed a single 250ml can of soda and replaced the other 250ml with water. Overall, you have reduced your calorie intake.Looking at this another way… let’s say during an afternoon you usually drink 1 liter of liquid. You usually opt to drink 1 liter of soda. Now, you decide to dilute every glass 1/2 soda and 1/2 water, and you still consume 1 liter of liquid. Again, you have reduced your overall calorie intake by half while consuming the same amount of liquid.

What do hospitals feed anorexic patients?

I was inpatient for 6 weeks at the end of last year and 2 weeks at the start of this year. Patients were required to have 3 meals and 3 snacks. We were fortunate enough to have an excellent kitchen so food wasn’t that bad (not gourmet but reasonably good). Our meals looked something like this:Breakfast: 1 - 1.5 cups of cereal with 1 cup of full cream milk - no low fat milk allowed, OR 2 pieces of toast with protein such as eggs or a glass of milk, OR porridge and a glass of milk (it was cooked in water). Some people had a piece of fruit also depending on their meal plan.Morning snack: was 1 or 2 items according to dietician set meal plan. Typically a piece of fruit and then a protein/calcium option such as nuts, yogurt, muesli bar, trail mix, protein ball, up and go etc.Lunch: either a hot meal (1/3 protein, 1/3 carbohydrates, 1/3 vegetables) OR a sandwich with protein and veggies OR a wrap with protein and veggies. Some had a piece of fruit also.Afternoon tea: 1 or 2 items according to dietician set meal plan. both of protein/calcium type.Dinner: hot meal with 1/3 protein 1/3 carbohydrate and 1/3 vegetables.Supper: 1 or 2 items according to dietician set meal plan. both usually of protein or calcium variety. If someone couldn’t finish a meal or a snack or didn’t want to attempt it they could opt to have the equivalent in a fortisip (a meal supplement). If you were on the ‘refeeding’ plan it was 1 fortisip, if you were on the standard meal plan it was 2.Other rules that applied:1 glass of water at every meal (this could be replaced with a hot drink at snack times)no hot drinks until after water and meal are complete (except at snack times)Fruit cut up into no more than 6 pieces2 sauce packages only1 salt and 1 pepper sachet onlyMust complete all food on plateNo napkins on the tableMeals were supervised by the nurses/therapistsBed rest after meals for 1hr (30 mins after snacks)

Is Ensure good for you?

I'm 15 and I usually don't eat breakfast or lunch, just a huge dinner. I'm just not hungry around those times. Can I use Ensure milk as a supplement? How many calories does it have?

Is a "liquitarian" (no solid foods, only liquids) diet healthy in the long term?

Just so I understand, are you basically following a vegan diet, but you're going to blast the food in the blender first? If so, then you'd have to worry about calorie intake. With all the water you'd be consuming, you'll feel full before actually consuming all the calories you need. I'd recommend you invest in a Vitamix to help avoid needing to add extra water to the smoothies.

As long as you are consuming smoothies rather than just juice, you should be fine. You can get the protein you need and the fiber you need that way.

Hope that helps!

What type of beverages/liquid meal are high calories but still healthy for every breakfast?

Full-fat yogurt -- rich, creamy, easy to digest.
Boost, Ensure or some similar enrichment drink. Chocolate Boost tastes pretty good.

How to put on weight fast!!?

Hi dear,
follow these guidelines to gain healthy weight
- Eat nutritious foods that are high in calories. Examples are whole-grain breads, vegetables such as avocados and potatoes, kidney beans, lean red meat, poultry and fish.
- Increase the caloric value of your meals. Add powdered milk to casseroles for added calories, add avocados and olives to sandwiches, add wheat germ to your cereal, add chopped meat to your pasta sauce, and so on.
- Avoid skipping meals. Knowing how to gain weight involves consistent eating. Eat three meals a day and at least two snacks.
- Increase your normal portion size. Take a second scoop of pasta, or add two bananas to your oatmeal.
- Choose higher-calorie foods when given a choice. For example, corn is higher in calories than green beans.
- Relax - excessive fidgeting and restlessness can burn up a lot of calories.
-Add weight lifting to your exercise program. It helps build muscle mass.
- Balance your caloric intake with the number of calories you're burning. You need to be taking in more than you use up, and you may need to ease up a little on your exercise program.
good luck
:o)

How to gain 3 pounds in one week?

Eat! Haha No but eat a lot of food that is rich in calories, but doesn't not fill you up. Bread is a good food to get far on and so is pudding, mac and cheese, chowders, casseroles, cheesecake (may be too rich), chilis, stews, pie w/ whipped cream and ice cream, cookies, and french fries. Anything that is fried will be sure to put some weight on you! Good luck eating (:
