Found A Rock Head In Myrtle Beach S.c.

What are these strange black rocks found on the beach?

Thanks for the A2A! Time to administer… THE TEST. Actually for this one you probably only need a couple of tests to narrow it down.Figure out what you have that can scratch it. A fingernail? A penny? An iron nail? A plate of glass?Break it open with a hammer, and see what it looks/feels like inside. The outside of a rock has been weathered by water and time. The inside has not, so the inside of rocks is usually a far better indication of what they are than the outside. If it’s hard to scratch (particularly if an iron nail won’t do it), and when you break it open it’s smooth and you can’t see the grains, you may be looking at basalt. Not a meteoroid, but potentially once part of an island or the seafloor! If it’s easier to scratch and the inside looks a bit like coal and you can see shiny grains, that’s probably jet, which is a piece of well-fossilized wood and the gem form of coal.

Best places to eat in myrtle beach SC?

I live in georgia and am visiting myrtle each for the first time, I don't want to fall into the tourist trap of eating at overpriced low quality restaurants because they look flashy, cool, or are convenient. Any tips on where to go or NOT to go? We like anything really especially seafood or typical American food.. Not really interested in Italian or Mexican etc. when on a beach vacation. Thanks!

Myrtle Beach, SC?

If you like shopping you need to to to Barefoot Landing on business hwy.17 or the Boardwalk.
Go to Hard Rock Cafe.
Ripley's aquarium.
On the main strip, go to the Gay Dolphin gift shop.
It has been there forever and is always a must to go visit.
If you old enough, you can go to many of the clubs there.
(Boardwalk)
Definitely hit up Dick's Last Resort. What a fun place! You eat there and you try to piss off your waiter, and they have live music. (Barefoot Landing)

Have fun. We have been going there for 14yrs!

Should i go to myrtle beach or the bahamas?

Hello Dear
Go to The Bahamas IT ROCKS!! and ten times better than Myrtle beach.I was suggest you stay at the RIU PALACE for a great time.It has Great staff, beach and food! Safe to walk off of resort. My cousin and I left our families behind and had a girl's week so we were really looking forward to this vacation! I read many critical reviews on this site and was worried about our vacation. At least I expected older rooms so was not disappointed. The beds more comfortable than other Riu's. The most important thing was that the room was clean which it was. We left a couple of dollars for a tip every day and came back to a room that was very well taken care of and any requests made! I think that if you go with the right attitude and leave a couple of $$ for tips you will have a great time. They do not make big salaries so they count on these tips. We tip here for service so why not there?? Riu's staff was just amazing, friendly, outgoing and try to please. Even when we went into Nassau, the people there were so friendly. We felt safe anywhere we went on and off the resort. The Riu has the best location! It is situated on Cabbage Beach which we were told is the nicest beach. They weren't lying. It is all soft sand and the water so clear you can see your feet! The Atlantis is right next door. They are closing in August and re-opening in Dec as a Riu Palace. I am only hoping that I can afford to go back. That being said I would go back to this resort as is, in a heart beat! So do not hesitate to book your vacation there, great value for your dollars!
Good luck!

Vacation which is best : Outer Banks vs Myrtle Beach vs Virginia Beach? Going with my 8 year old and want to have fun. We want to try a new beach.

I went to Outer Banks as a teen. We didn’t have surf boards so we “body surfed” the waves. We rented a house and stuffed three families in there for a weekend. There were few but still a sizeable amount of people on the beach, so we didn’t have to worry about fighting over it. The sand was greyish brown, normal, average, would fall through your fingers or cake in mud when drenched in water. The water was a steelish, transparent up close and brownish, clear from afar. The waves would roar up to 6 to 9 feet if you ventured far enough and would rock you over and over if you caught the wrong way. It was fun but not the best beach I’ve ever visited (I’d give that to Cancun where the water was literally turquoise aquamarine).I went to Myrtle and Virginia Beach on a high school band trip. We stayed in hotels and played out in the hotel pool rather than the actual beach. I guess the teachers thought it was safer. From afar, it seemed to be a similar type of attitude, with a more small town, harbor/sea vibe. They sold a lot of seafood in restaurants and buffet. The beach, from afar, had the same metallic, mud brown look. There was a tourist/vacation-vibe in the air and a good amount of people, more people than in Outer Banks. Maybe it was because we drove through the most popular areas or just faulty memory, but I thought it was more crowded, but not stuffed. The beaches looked slightly less appealing from afar than Outer Banks (OBX).OBX has tourist stops too but it’s mainly the standard t-shirts, hats, and trinkets. Myrtle and Virginia went farther to offer real, unique local merchandise and seafood.

Is the water at Myrtle Beach warm enough for swimming in early May?

The water will still be a little bit chilly, but if you really want, you can go swimming. But here are some other things to do also. As for entertainment, restaurants, and things like that, some great attractions are Nascar SpeedPark, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, Planet Hollywood, Ripley's Aquarium, Ripley's 4-D Adventure, Atlantis Putt-Putt golfing, The Dixie Stampede, and Deep Sea Fishing with the Hurricane Fleet, to name a few. I said atlantis putt-putt golfing, but there are endless places to golf. Atlantis is one of the best in my opinion. If yu get a hole in 1 on the 19th hole you win free golf there for the rest of your life.Truly, these are fun whether you are 4 or 40. You can also go to club Kryptonite (if your old enough) Some Awesome places to eat are Benjamin's's Original Calabash Seafood, The Filling Station (Pizza), and T-Bones (at Barefoot Landing). Umm you can go to Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach (I go to Barefoot landing in the day normally, but if you go at night they have a cool little carnival-like thing)...but don't waste your time going to the mall, it sucks, although, there is a place called outdoor world there and it is really interesting. they have a huge fish tank with small sharks in it and there are daiIy shark feedings. I hope that this info has helped you. I have been to Myrtle Beach 13 years in a row, so i know my way around pretty well. Have a great trip!

I found a very hard, rubbery substance on the beach today. What is it?
