Found A Single Kitten

Only anwser if you have dealed with "single kitten syndrome"?

got one right now as a matter of fact :) he's the cutest little bug..

I have found the easiest way to train a kitten not to bite is to say "ow" in a meow type of way, high pitched like he would if he was in pain. When i do it, they stop bitting me instantly and look up at me. Usually they'll lick me immediately. The "ow' is what their siblings would do when they are playing.

I find it important for kittens to know that they can wrap their teeth around you and how hard to bite before pain happens.. most cats will bite to warn you to stop what you are doing, and if they don't know how to do it gently - as a warning - it can cause problems in the future..

Try the 'ow' trick. If he is persistent after you make the noise, put him down - isolate him for a few minutes. Ignoring the behavior will show him that it is not acceptable. giving negative attention can often be misunderstood as good attention and encourage the behavior you don't want. Hitting and being physical with the kitten can cause him to fear you.

your older cat will help him learn the ropes. You also have to realize he's way WAY young, and has a LOT of learning to do.

I found 1 Flea on my Kitten...?

My Cat had a litter of 5 kittens 16 days ago, and last night I found a flea on one of the kittens. I searched Mama Cat, who is white, so it was pretty easy to look through her fur, and found nothing. I also examined the rest of the kittens and their bedding and found nothing either. Their Mother is an inside cat, though she has charged out of the house a few times when the door is opened, but was always brought right back in. I must also add that the Daddy cat is in the house also, and thankfully does not escape. Basically, I believe that the Mother and Kittens do have fleas, but they are at the beginning of an infestation. I am going to buy a Flea Comb and some Baby Shampoo and take care of the kittens, but I don't know how to treat the Mother, who is still feeding the kittens, and how much effort I should put into all of this since I only found one. I also don't know what I can treat the Dad with, just in case. I am going to clean their bedding and mine, since their Mother decided to move all the kittens onto my bed. Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, how long would you treat the kittens for fleas? Thank you!

Why is my mother cat singling out just one kitten?

SHE MAY SMELL SOMETHING ABOUT IT THAT ISNT JUST RIGHT....I would seal her and her kittens up in a kennel and when she jumps in to nurse them..I would shut the door...keep all kittens together so they can be warm...if she is allowed to move one to another spot..it may catch cold and die...
I have small kennels with a mesh metal door...when i breed my chihuahuas...I always make sure all kittens stay inside...

when she is done nursing..then let the mother out.....check the kitten for defects...like her mouth, her nose and eyes...and the anus....make sure there is a hole and a place to pee....
when a mother cat takes one out..she sees soemthing wrong...so check that kitten like a doctor for any defects

How do you potty train a blind kitten?

My boyfriend and I adopted a kitten from the humane society about half a year ago. She had a horrible eye infection and we figured she was completely blind. When we first got her we were on the go doing theatre and we took her with us everywhere we went. We made a kitty carrier into a little home for her with a bed for her to sleep on and a towel for her to go potty on. When we were in one place for a long time we would set her up a little area to walk around in with a towel for her to use the bathroom on. Now, we're settled in one place and she is doing fabulously! The problem is, I think she got really comfortable to using the towel and now she doesn't understand what the litter box is. We've tried putting her in the bathroom with her litter box for a while but she will go potty on the floor. A couple months ago I tried putting her in the litter box and she ate the litter!! I'm at my wit's end! How do I potty train this kitty??

I found some sick kittens outside my house. How can i help them?

I also found some kittens a few weeks ago in my garden shed, three of them.
The first thing i done was check if they had bugs...funnily enough they all had fleas so i have some ''small animal antiseptic shampoo'' and you have to give them a very long warm bath using this soap (keep it away from there face at first). I put them in a small bucket and one by one scrubbed them but you really do have to dig deep and under every single part of their body otherwise you might have a few surviving fleas. After clean their face with the soap but take extra care when cleaning the area because of their eyes and mouth, i found that the fleas took shelter in the corner of their eyes (yuck >.<) to avoid being soaped away!! One of the kittens i found also had gunky eyes and i have some 'diamond eyes' eye stain remover. i use it to clean the bogey like gunk around its eyes away but thats all it does, it just cleans the problem, it dosent remove it. the best thing you can do is clean its eyes properly and remove the gunk and also invest in eyedrops for kittens/cats. check your local pet store or even serch online for eyedrop!! it'll cost you £4 at most and im sure thats okay :)

If I bottle fed a kitten I found will he form a closer bond to me vs him having a cat mother for his first few months?

Usually, yes, if he survives. Many kittens separated from their mothers don’t survive bottlefeeding. There are so many many sad stories among kitten rescuers about this.On the other hand, my mom and I took home two motherless kittens from the vet when I was eight, brother and sister Norwegian Forest Cat kittens, Jezebel and Jericho. Jericho was a sweet and cuddly male tabby cat from beginning to end. He took up his spot on the pillow next to mine on my bed every night to purr me to sleep once he stopped bottlefeeding and that was that. The only bad thing about him was that he died of a kidney infection at age three. Just fine one day, sick the next. Jezebel was the worst cat we ever had for that first three years. Mean, nasty, peed everywhere. Yelled all the time. Then she had a total personality change at age three, about the time her brother died. She cuddled near constantly, slept on my bed at night, eventually mothered every single kitten that came through our doors, though she was spayed early and never even went into heat. She was a Saint Augustine turnaround. Both kittens turned out very well, personality-wise, one eventually.
