What behaviors depicted on TV by Americans are rarely true about us that might give different countries the wrong impression of us?
The bathroom is almost invisible. No one ever needs to take a leak on television.Cars are always parked right in front of the airport or city hall, unlocked, keys in the ignition while the hero runs inside.As mentioned women cops always look like supermodels and are super glamorous. Strange the guys they work with though never hit on them though.People fall off a two story building and get up and walk away. Ditto with explosions. People running around in the open shooting at each other during machine gun fire but no one gets hit. Or the hero fires his weapon and almost always the macho hood gets hit and dies.People seem to regain consciousness after being given CPR. I’m told CPR is given so you dont die on the way to the emergency room.Smart-alecky kids who have a repartee of snide remarks against the dumb as bricks dad. Which reminds me, most white married men, or boyfriends are portrayed as clueless dolts.Criminal minds, six people stand in a line, take turns to say a piece about the criminal profile, everyone knows their cue and no one interrupts another person.They finish each others sentences.Police will give long winded monologues to explain in expository style what they know about what the criminal is doing and what they are going to do next.Americans say “hey” when they meet each other and never say “goodbye” or signal the end of the conversation when they hang up the phone. They say what they want to say and then “click”.Cars are seen doing jumps off bridges or trains or flying through the streets of San Fransisco. The impact when landing would usually wreck the transmission and suspension of the vehicle that it would simply become undrivable.
Which environmental issue do you think is the most pressing problem the enviroment faces today?
The bloviation factor emanating from the hypocrite zone - Washington DC. All that hot air means trouble for the rest of us.

Seven Seconds my Dad is watching it I am not allowed to watch tv my parents beleive that tv rots the brain. And I get one show a week every satudrday. But tonight my Dad is watching Criminal MInds and I keep hearing all these random parts! And seeing glimpses of the show! Is the show Love & Hip Hop considered an embarrassment to the Black community in the U.S?
For me and those like me yes. To my sisters and girls like her no.It just depends. I think it reinforces a LOT of negative stereotypes about black Americans but my sister see’s it as just entertainment. To them there are a lot of white shows that are similar so they say what’s the problem???To me the problem is that unfortunately in America when whites see their own doing something embarrassing they just look at those people as individuals, but when they see a minority doing something embarrassing they look at those people as being representative of how ALL blacks act.Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s not right but it’s reality.But sadly the reverse is not true. Look at President Obama or renowned scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson. White America looks at those two as outliers instead of the average black American. They’ve been conditioned for so long to think the worst of us that when blacks do shine they see them as special instead of ordinary.This reminds me of a conversation my friends and I had (all middle-class black college students) where we wondered why we are never represented in the media. We are not the Carlton Banks from the fresh prince of Bel-Air type nor are we the gangsta thug rapper types.Shows like Love and hip-hop help continue the stereotype that even if you give blacks money they will still be trashy, violent, greedy, and act uneducated. I hear the show Blackish is trying to change that image of us in the media but unfortunately there are at least 4 other shows on tv now with all black cast that paint us as thugs, gangsta’s, and of course sexually promiscuous.
Why should I not let my future kids watch Spongbob?
I am in the habit of learning from experience. Many a times, friends without kids would say things like: Why do you drive full size SUV? They take up sooo much room”. And: Why do you have a box of garbage bags in you large car? Why not just take the garbage out with you?Well, fast forward five years and they too drive a full size SUV. With all their junk in it. You see, kids and the up to snuff equipment they require by law to keep them safe take up alot of room. And as it turns out, when you exit the large car, by law you have to take the kids with you. Not the garbage. Hence, the garbage bags.Sorry a little off from the topic. My point again, wait until your children arrive to make decisions. Get to know them. You might just find yourself singing along with them.Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?…..
Joyce Meyer-the Multimillionaire Televangelist?
Anthony, I couldn't agree with you more. This is a real problem that I have with televangelists who flaunt money and spend it to live extravagant lifestyles for themselves. I wrote letters last year to all of the televangelists on tv-they all pretty much live this way. T.D. Jakes, Joel O'Steen, Pat Robertson, etc.. . Perhaps the only one who lives somewhat modestly is Charles Stanley, but you may tell me the same is true of him, I don't know. I wrote the letters to ask for financial statements in order to see how much of their donations were being spent on ministries to the poor. I criticized them for raking in so much money and taking advantage of poor people who send money that they really can't afford to send. And I couldn't understand why poverty and homelessness in this country STILL exists. I asked them why they weren't doing anything to help end it. Certainly if all of these super-churches pooled their monies together, they could put a good dent into it. I also criticized them for spending what seems like most of their monies on missions to countries like Africa and India. I told them if the Federal Government spends Bilions of taxpayers' monies in these countries, then why did they feel they also had to do so? Don't get me wrong, I think money should be spent in these countries if they really need it. But we're not seeing any results. I have to tell you that I did not get a single letter back from any of the ministries I wrote to, except a form letter from Joyce Meyer Ministries and a free video and booklet on the subject of "Hope". So I know that my letter was either not read or ignored. We have all seen the demise of the PTL ministries. GOD will bring these people down eventually, if they are not carrying out HIS plan or being obedient to HIM. Thank you for the provocative question and exposing the truth of these ministries.
