Gaining Weight Advice

Advice for breastfed baby not gaining weight...?

What does the pediatrician say? Is he/she concerned about weight gain?

Is she latching properly? Do you feel like you have a good milk supply? There are supplements you can take to increase your supply if this is the case. Maybe talk to a lactation consultant?

Some babies just take a bit longer to regain weight.

My parents are forcing me to gain weight? Advice on healthy weight gaining snacks/workouts?

Okay so I am a 15 year old female who is 5'7 and 111 pounds. I used to be 122 pounds about half a year ago so my parents are concerned. I lost the weight from doing cross country every morning and about a month ago I started dieting. (Low fat, only whole food diet with no snacking basically)
My parents now see how much more skinny I am and are making me eat A LOT more food. They are saying I could turn out to be anorexic if I don't eat more!! That is just really insulting to me... And yes I know they are just concerned.. but I normally eat a lot each day! Here is my meal plan usually:

BREAKFAST-

1 big glass of 20g protein fruit and soy milk smoothie
2 pieces of toast with jam (or cereal)

LUNCH-
1 serving of split pea soup
2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and jam
1 piece of rolled up ham
1 big bowl of peas

DINNER-
chicken (or fish) with vegetables and potatoes OR sometimes spaghetti, or a mexican dish

Now they want me to eat more each meal AND have ice cream every night! I still have an inch of fat on my stomach and i really don't want to gain anymore weight! I don't want to lose weight but i really don't' want to gain any. what should I do? They are making me weight myself everyday and keep a record of it, AND my mom is just really stressing me out because she keeps pestering me to eat more and more when I am really stuffed! She counted up the amount of calories I ate for lunch and started getting mad at me because i didn't eat enough?!

What should I do? I feel like I eat enough already but they are making me do this..
Any advice on what to eat to gain/maintain healthy weight without adding on fat?
I am just so stressed out and I really need some advice so thank you so much for taking the time to respond it really means a lot:)

I am a teen and i am 5'7" and only 104 lbs. gaining weight tricks?

I was 5'7 102 a few years ago. I quit smoking, ate a lot of candy in place of smoking and I drank Ensure for weight gain. I went up to 140 lbs and I did not like it at all. Now I am 120 lbs but I'd rather be more like 115. Keep in mind I am smalled framed so I don't look like a bag of bones as some might think. You porbably are too, so just try drinking Ensure with your regular meals for awhile. Monitor your weight though, you don't want to gain too much and end up not liking it like I did.

What tips or advice do you have for gaining weight and muscle as a type 1 diabetic who weightlifts 3 times a week?

Gaining weight should not be the question. Developing muscle is what you want. Keep in mind that muscles recognize work not weight. Plate stacking is for ego more than healthy lifting. To gain muscle to need to train for power lifting (which helps density). But people see power lifting as tons of weight lifted for less reps. You need to determine your 1 rep max and 3 rep max. For example you would design your routine to start as:Set 1: Bench Press: 5 reps 75% 3RM (rep max)Set 2: Bench Press: 5 reps 85% 3RMSet 3: Bench Press: 1-4 reps 85% 3RMSet 4: Bench Press: 1-3 reps 95% 1RMThis is just an example I've done over the years. It works for me but my goal may not be the same as yours. I did it for strength and density. Only doing it 2 times a year for a period of 8 weeks each time.Next look into your macros. To gain muscles need nutrients. Mainly carbs and proteins. How are you supplementing after your workout? Casein proteins and whole grains digest slower allowing your muscle to feed when it builds (at rest). Your muscles go through a fasting period when you sleep. Eat the right casein proteins and whole grains along with DHEA and you should notice positive gains after the 8 week cycle.Follow up the eight weeks with rest for 1 week. Then change to a superset routine with fast digesting proteins like whey, chicken, eggs, and fish. If that's not to your liking do a routine where you at least hit each muscle group once a week. Make sure they're actually working and you're not just going through the motions. If you find this occurring; change it up. The worst thing for a body is stagnation. Change is good and prevents plateauing. As far as being a Type I Diabetic; cross your proposed diet with your physician. They may have a better plan or advise of foods you should avoid or ones that will work better.

I think my friend got cursed to gain weight any advice on how to fix it?

She used to be 150 pounds. In a matter of two years she gained weight really fast and is now 260 pounds. She was always good with maintaining weight even if she ate poorly. She was a jogger and rode bikes alot. Then all of a sudden became depressed stopped going out and gained weight quickly. People constantly asked if she was pregnant. Any way someone can say if its possible or how to break it? I should also probably mention she has wiccan friends. One of her friends has a friend that dated her ex. They never hung out.

I'm in on crutches and am afraid i'll gain weight. Advice? Pllllease. T,T?

Well, first off, you're not eating enough. You should be eating more. It can contribute to poor health, and eventual weight gain when you're better if you don't eat enough now, since your body will store all it's fats, and will just make it worse. Try to eat about 1800-2000 calories per day to maintain weight, I've been on crutches 4 times each for a few months, so i know it's tough. You should try doing push ups on your knees to not hurt your leg, exercise bike (if you can, and if not now, when you get off crutches, even while in the boot, i did that, and i was okay) I usually went for a short walk while on crutches, i know it gets tiring, but walking on crutches for one hour burns about 200 cals. It's good for your arms too. Swimming is great, as long as you're in a waterproof cast, or when out of the cast, swimming is very good for you, and also helps with the healing, when you can move your ankle again, it will help to be in the water, since it won't be putting so much stress on it. Weightlifting is good too, while you're sitting down that is. Tightening the muscles in the upper leg is good too, keeps the leg from losing too much strength while on crutches. pilates is good too, since that doesn't require much on your ankles. Do lots of stretches too, to keep strength up. Basically keep yourself as active as you can, without putting any pressure on that ankle. It'll heal soon, and you'll be back to yourself soon> just be thankful you're not on them for 3 months each time like me. GOodluck and i hope you are well, and wish you all teh luck in recovery.
