Ged /college Questions Floridians Help Me Out

Do i have a chance of getting into the University of Florida?

You will get in. 100% Guarantee.

This came from the University of Florida website.

Minimum Admission Requirements
Graduation from a regionally accredited or state-approved secondary school or the equivalent (G.E.D., etc.).
Sixteen academic units, distributed as follows:
English (with substantial writing) 4 years
Mathematics (Algebra 1, Formal Geometry, Algebra 2) 4 years
Natural Sciences (two units must include laboratory) 3 years
Social Sciences 3 years
Foreign Language (must be sequential) 2 years
A cumulative C average in the academic core, as computed by the university, at all institutions attended, high school and college.
Students taking dual enrollment courses must present a minimum 2.0 GPA at every institution attended.
A record of good conduct. Major or continuing difficulty with school or other officials may render an applicant ineligible regardless of academic qualifications.
A combined score of at least 1330 on the critical reading, math and writing sections of the SAT (with writing), with a minimum score of 440 on each. Effective with the 2009 entering class, the university will begin considering the writing portion of the SAT.
On the ACT With Writing, a composite score of 19 is required with a minimum of 17 on the English subsection, a minimum of 19 on the math subsection and a minimum of 18 on the reading subsection. ACT scores without the Writing component cannot be used for freshman admission decisions.

A C average is BELOW your GPA...therefore, as far as GPA goes, you are good. The minimum ACT score is 19, and you have a 23 (and you will probably improve). A 23 is obviously higher than a 19, which means you are also fine there. Schools usually also look at extra-curricular activities and community service (which you say you have). Your course load is also important, so all of your ap and honors classes will contribute to your future successful admission attempt. I HAVE researched the admission requirements of the University of Florida, and from those requirements and what you have said, I believe you have a good chance of getting in. You can also improve your ACT and GPA over the next two years, and that will help. Just because the AVERAGE admitted student has better credentials than you does not mean that students such as yourself do not get accepted. Good luck and work hard in your junior and senior years!

Does Florida Virtual School affect your GPA in a public school?

The answer to your question is, yes it could. When you take courses on FLVS, they are real credits just like those you take at your regular school. If you take the course the credits can appear on your transcript and affect your GPA. You do have a 30 day grace period to drop the course without penalty.

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us at info@flvs.net.

How can I go to a university in Florida with a GED?

Absolutely. The state of Florida is very friendly to homeschoolers. This means they do not care if you formally graduated from a high school (secondary school, or attended ANY school at all). Depending on your age, you may not even need a GED. But you must pass a proficiency exam. One of my children went to Florida with a GED and one of my grandchildren has been accepted into university with GED. One grandchild has been accepted and is too young for a GED. So they let him in with a placement exam.

How do you drop a course in florida virtual school?

Contact your school and if guidance counselors are provided just talk to them and tell them why you want to drop the class. There are deadlines for when you can drop/add class.

Would I get into the University of Central Florida?

I've been searching the University of Central Florida site for about a week now. And, have been trying to figure out if the University is good for me, and/or if I will be able to get into it. I've been out of high school for a year now; graduated in 2007. I wasn't the top of my class, but my grades were decent. I got A's, B's, and C's, and some D's. Didn't get one F throughout high school, didn't really get in trouble either, probably got in trouble once... Was pretty well known as a good kid, almost every teacher liked me. So, I think I should be fine, and get into the University of Central Florida, but I don't know. But, also when I look on the apply page, they have these requirements.

1. Official high school transcripts (I've been out of high school for a year, would my high school still have it?)
2. Official SAT or ACT scores (Didn't take any of those tests. And, thought those tests are only taken in college....probably for transfer students.)
3. Official GED or TOEFL scores, where applicable (The hell, GED? TOEFL? I got a high school diploma.)
4. Submission of the Counselor Recommendation Form (How can one get this filled out? What if you're counselor doesn't go to the school you went to anymore?)
5. Submission of the application essay (strongly encouraged) (I can do that.)
6. Transcripts from all colleges attended (And, I know that is for transfer students.)

I feel it's going to be hard to get into to the University. I'm kind of scared, cause I really want to go.

I also searched the site to see what kind of program/majors they have. I'm really interested in a few things, like Digital Media, Business, and Marketing. Are those program/majors hard to get into? And, which one do you think is the best? Knowing you can have one major.
