You can try to watch and see for yourself, as the mahou shoujo genre is evolving to include mature concepts like death, trauma etc.Elfen lied, wixoss, lain, and potentially blackrock shooter and the second season of railgun explores very deep concepts that require a lot of time to digest. If you are hoping for a lighthearted series, these are not going to cut it.Seirei no Moribito, and Blackrock Shooter are family-friendly, although your younger siblings won't be able to fully grasp the concepts till they’re older.Shana focuses on the main male protagonist, and only in the third season does the focus turn entirely to the development of the female main character.Strike witches, vividred, and kantai are very similar to each other, and offer a lighthearted satisfying plot.
