Girls Did You Have To Wait 6 Months For Acne To Clear While On Birth Control

How long does birth control take to get rid of acne?

It depends on both the birth control, and what is truly the cause of your acne.
I take ortho tri cyclen, which is known for it's ability to clear acne, make a shorter period and lesson cramps. (if you could get passed the symptoms it comes with) And this specific BC could take up to two months to see improvement.
But remember:
There are other factors to acne, not just hormone levels (I have higher levels of testosterone too)
Continue to wash your face and use topicals such as ben. 10% and Sal. 2+%
Taking things like fish oil and birth control to help clear your acne will temporarily make it worse. your skin will purge; push out all the yucky stuff, for the first while, then keep it clear thereafter.

If you want a more natural approach here are my suggestions (from experience of course)
Raw honey and crushed aspirin (calms and reduces swelling, redness and the infected parts of pimples aka pustules) - about 2-4 tablets and mix with honey to desired texture (I like to use 6-8 though but I make it for 2 people) use it as a mask for about 30 minutes or overnight (play with it a little to see what works for your skin best)
Drink the recommended amount of water daily - this not only helps your organs but helps regulate the natural functions of your body, which usually acne is a sign that something is not working like it's supposed to.
A mask of egg whites (no yolk) baking soda and lemon juice

If you have dry skin then don't do either of those masks too often because it does have the tendency to dry your skin.

Also; I have trouble finding over the counter creams too. The only one that worked for me was adapalene - Differin, I'm thinking about using it again.

Sorry about the long response

Does birth control help get rid of acne?

Yes it should. For me it was my miracle cure for my acne. Gosh I had it bad. All over my back too. Now I can hardly remember I ever used to have bacne or just acne on my face.

However my cousin also took it and it caused her wieght to balloon due to the fact it increases your appetite A LOT. For me though It didn't cause any changes in my weight, thank goodness, although I am always in the pantry, haha.

Also its handy to go on the BC, since you can use it to skip your periods, or just not have your period at all. Dont worry this is not bad for you, since technically you stop having a true period when you go on the BC. You only will be having artificial periods, if that makes sense.

Also beware you may become very dependent on the Birth control pills, as for most girls when you go off the pills your acne will probably come back (even worse) since its going to mess up your hormone balance again. So when you do decide to come off the birth control pill after using it for your acne , make sure you wean yourself off it SLOWLY. cut up the pills and start reducing them etc.

good luck hun!

Is it common for a single girl to take birth control pills?

Sometimes when a woman has an iregular cycle (period) a gynecologist will prescribe certain types of birth control pills to help regulate thier cycle or to help with certain hormonal issues. Yes hunny it is very common for a single woman to use birth control pills, if not for health reasons just because they are not ready to be a mother yet. Be grateful that you have a young lady who is reponsible enough to take precautions. So many people these days are not. I hope that I helped a bit. God Bless Yohanna Ramirez

Acne Problems 15 year old girl?

I don't buy any product since most doesn't work at ALL.

These masks can get rid of blackheads and acne, oily skin, and dry skin.

Make your own face mask and exfoliater.
Before you do a mask or exfoliater, press hot water or lukewarm water against your face with a wash cloth for a minute to moisturize before your masks.

Here is an exfoliater:
Mix 2 teaspoons of baking soda with a few drops of warm water. Massage the paste over your face and rinse with warm water over the sink. Do this at least twice every week. Now here are some face masks:

Oatmeal-Yogurt Mask for OILY SKIN- Mix 2 tablespoons of uncooked oatmeal and 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt.

Honey-Oatmeal Mask for DRY SKIN- Mix 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of uncooked oatmeal.

Yogurt-Cucumber Mask for SENSITIVE SKIN- Puree 2 tablespoons of yogurt with 1/4 cup of peeled and sliced cucumber. Use a cotton ball to pat the mask onto your face and rinse with cool water.

Only rub these masks and exfoliaters on twice a week, for if more, it will ruin your skin. Make sure you GENTLY pat on the masks too.

To get rid of acne and blackheads also do this:

Stay hydrated!
Don't touch your skin a lot.
Wash your face every morning with soap and water.
Don't pick at your zits, it will leave scars.
Wash your pillow case often about once a week.
At night, put toothpaste on your zit and leave it on the whole night. Wash it off in the morning.

What birth control pills are good for getting rid of acne?

I have been taking yasmin for 6 months and its great, I never have any bad side affects but Im 19 and cannot get rid of my acne. Ive heard ppl say that theres cleared up when they went on the pill.

I'm a 17 year old girl, and I've struggled with acne and dry skin since I was 13. I've tried almost everything under the sun. What can I do to actually treat and cure my acne?

To be honest, your age has A LOT to do with it. Your skin is a lot more volatile as a teenager and it’s much, much more difficult to control. I had a lot of issues as a teenager too because of hormones and growth spurts. Trust me, it will get better as you get older :) Here’s what you can do now to try to control outbreaks as much as possible:Wash your face regularly, but dont be too rough- be gentle with your skin and use a toner when you’re done. (Try rose water or apple cider vinegar as a toner.)Avoid touching your face - THIS WORKS WONDERS. I know it’s tempting to brush our fingers against our face to feel around for acne of dry spots, but you have to stop. Carry face tissues if you have a habit of touching and wiping your face.Drink LOTS of water. If you want to see results fast, then I suggest you drink 3 litres of water per day- It’s crazy how well your skin will start glowing. All the toxins get flushed out of your system; It’s like a constant cleansing that takes place internally.Try tea tree oil. In my experience, tea tree oil has been great for curing acne, pimples or break outs. I use a roll on because it’s easy to apply. Don’t worry about which brand to get, just make sure you’re getting authentic tea tree oil- mine is unbranded from a local (roadside)Ayurveda shop in Kerala.Hope this helps! You can read more of my beauty and fashion opinions on the blog below. Can switching birth control pills cause your breasts to grow?

My girl friend was on Levora birth control pills for about 15 or 16 months. The pill worked great for her but she decided to switch to tri cyclen lo birth control because it was said to clear up acne. Anyhow, after feeling moody and upset on tri cyclen lo, she decided to switch back to Levora. She was on tri cyclen lo for about 2 months. So she switched back to Levora and she's about half way through her first pack. My question: Can switching brands of pills like she did screw up her estrogen level causing her breasts to grow? She seems to think they are bigger, however I can't really tell a difference. She says her bras and clothing ARE NOT fitting any tighter or anything but she seems to think they are more filled out and move around more. I know it sounds odd but I'm a little worried. I don't know wheather to think they may be growing due to estrogen from her pills OR pregnancy... She has only been mentioning her breasts growing for about 2 or 3 weeks. Please help me on this one.

Additional info:
While on tri cyclen lo, she was having a period about once every two weeks. Since switching pills, she hasn't had a period yet. Friday (3 days from now) will be 28 days from the time she started her last period. We were also concerned the day after she started her last period (which was about 24 days ago) so that morning she took a pregnancy test which was negative.

My skin wont clear up?

please help me! I'm 14, and I have been struggling with acne for such a long time. I have seen a dermatologist and tried everything possible, I can't get it to clear up. It really makes me self concious and depressed, I feel so ugly. My forehead is the worst part, there isn't one clear spot. Also when I get a pimple, it lasts for like a month and won't go away. Please help :(

Is it wrong to wear a hijab to cover my bad acne? I am not Muslim. My acne is ruining my self esteem. Meds aren’t working.

No, it isn’t wrong to wear a head scarf but why do that when you can get your acne successfully treated by a dermatologist?I too had persistent acne and NONE of the many, many different over-the-counter products or treatments I tried over the years, worked. So finally as an adult I took myself to see a dermatologist and he put me on prescription medication: both a prescription-strength Retin-A (or isotretinoin) skin lotion and an antibiotic pill treatment. This was a long time ago but I think it took about two or three months for my skin to begin to clear up, and another few months to complete the treatment, and once it cleared up my acne never came back! It was like a miracle to finally have clear, smooth pimple-free skin!Thing is, seeing a doctor and getting the prescription treatment is on the expensive side, AND since you are female, you have to sign a legal agreement that you will NOT become pregnant while on the treatment and for several months afterwards, because the prescription medication causes SEVERE birth defects. If you are not willing and/or not able to abstain from sex for about 6 months or if you are not willing to obsessively use birth control during and after treatment, then you won’t be considered a good candidate.Best of luck to you.
