Given That Russia Is The Biggest Country On Earth - Why Is Greedy Putin Looking For More

Why is Russia trying to conquer new territories as if it's the biggest country in the world and it's never reached even 10% of its potential?

I will venture an opinion as an observer only. I think it is more about their psychology and history. Russia has constantly been invaded. Several times in history when a powerful western dictator got a good army together he was off to Moscow with it. That is the kind of thing that really gets people upset and angry. I know I would be. Now after successfully fighting off the German Nazi army they have and will always have a compelling interest in maintaining a buffer zone around their borders so that they don't have to do that again.(heaven Forbid) The Warsaw pact was one of those plans to maintain that buffer zone. The Warsaw Pact was created as a response to West Germany joining NATO and as A counterweight to NATO. Now that the Warsaw pact is no longer in existence NATO could have at least pulled back but instead it advanced. They (Russia) see this as an advance on their borders and given their history it makes them really nervous. Now here in the Ukraine they see a shift towards the West and NATO and they have a direct interest in the naval port in the Crimea. In the Ukraine, Putin is on more solid legal ground than we are. The legally elected government was overthrown in a coup. Try to imagine if our current president were overthrown instead of waiting for the next election to vote him out of office.Putin is correct by not recognizing it. At this point I must confess that I do not understand why the Ukraine had to side with either Russia or the West and why it couldn't be on good terms with both. I suspect that there are global interests that want to orchestrate this conflict between us and Russia for reasons of their own but then that is a whole other discussion.

Why is Russia so dangerous?

Consider this:The size of Russia is bigger than that of Pluto. If Siberia were a country, it would be the third largest in the world. Russia stretches about 10000 km east to west, which is almost three times the diameter of the moon, one-and-a-half times the diameter of mars and just 2000 kms short of earth’s diameter.Russia’s total natural resources are valued at USD 75 trillion.Russia has the largest reserves and is the largest exporter of natural gas. It has the second largest coal reserves, the eighth largest oil reserves and is the largest exporter of oil in the world.Russia is a leading producer of copper, fluorspar, iron ore, lime, gold, magnesium compound and metals, mica, cobalt, aluminum, asbestos, arsenic, cadmium, coal, cement, boron, bauxite, vanadium, titanium sponge, tin, tungsten, potash, sulfur, silicon, rhenium, steel, pig iron, nickel, palladium, phosphate, petroleum, nitrogen, peat and oil shale.Russia has 40% of world’s gold reserves.20% of the global production of industrial grade diamonds and 25% of global gemstone production come from Russia.11% of the global aluminum market is controlled by just one Russian company, Rusal.Russia has more than a fifth of the world's forests. About one-fifth of the timber in the entire world is present in the forests of Siberia. If you laid the oil and gas pipelines of Russia around the equator, it would encircle earth 6 times.Only one lake of Russia, Lake Baikal has 20 percent of entire fresh water in the world.Russia has 4 of the 10 largest rivers in the world.Russia’s top 20 billionaires have a combined wealth of about USD 250 billion, which is more than the GDP of 150 individual countries in the world.Russian inventions include transformer, helicopter, video-tape recorder, synthetic rubber, grain harvester, electrical telegraph, arc welding, radiator, powdered milk and thousands of other things without which life would be very different today.Russia has the largest number of nuclear weapons in the world. Russia's RS-24 Yars Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) has ten independently targetable nuclear warheads, which can reenter earth's atmosphere at hypersonic speeds at around 5 miles a second.Russia has the largest atomic bomb - Tsar Bomb, which was detonated way back in 1961.In 2013, Russia was the largest arms exporter in the world. It occupies second place now.And Russia has:ThisThisThisThisThisThisAnd ThisRussia is Not dangerous. It is FORMIDABLE.

Health Care System between Russia and USA?

I need some good websites or resources for a project for my russian class. I need info on the health care system in Russia and the USA, also the differences between the two. Any help would be appreciated.

Arabia controls the OIL price? Are we at war with the wrong country?

yes. but it is very complex. the corruption is from top to bottom. the oil execs, the saudis, the banking system, it is charlotte's web all over again. guess you understand now. oh, and don't underestimate the investments of the oil company executives and the hedge traders. oh yes, it is complex.

our energy industry, including the investment and banking people, is corrupt like it was in russia for awhile. putin decided it was so corrupt there he put some in prison then turned it over to national control. guess what? things are humming along very well now, thank you.

you cannot trust anybody on earth with some things, they will prove that greed always takes hold. the entire energy industry must be nationalized or you will get more of the same b.s. no private prisons, no private energy companies and no private armies. rational and balanced policy that is open and accountable.

Why is the US so afraid of Russia?

Russia is an extremely weak country with an extremely bleak future. It has a 3rd world economy with nothing the rest of the world wants except stuff it gets out of the ground (hallmark of 3rd world), ie oil/gas and, unfortunately for Russia, and thanks to fracking, today the US controls the world price of oil and is keeping it low. Russia’s 2016 GDP is little more than half its 2013 GDP. No one buys Russian products. Russia’s GDP is 2/3rds that of Italy. It achieves this with a population 2 1/2 times Italy’s.Russia’s weapons continue to display their uselessness compared to American weapons. Putin’s wonder weapon (S-400 anti air missile) was completely MIA at the recent attack on Damascus (ZERO S-400’s launched). It was also MIA at the missile attack on Shayrat air base (“protected” by S-400’s) a year ago. 2 US warships launched 59 missiles. 58 hit their targets destroying 20% of Syria’s airforce. Again, ZERO S-400’s were launched. Russia’s sales efforts for the S-400 are flat on their face. Consider the US fighter the F-15. Combat record of 110 kills (mainly against Russian/Soviet fighters) for ZERO losses. Russian nuke subs are notorious widow makers. Russia’s only a/c carrier (Adm Kuznetsov) belches huge clouds of black diesel smoke wherever it goes and is always accompanied by the world’s largest tug to get it back home if it breaks down. Last year it tried to intervene in the Med. It steamed thru the Channel to the Med. When it got there 2 planes fell overboard so it went back home having done nothing.Russia’ pop’n is aging and declining. Its male life expectancy is 64 yrs (ranking in the world’s lowest 50). 1/4 of Russian men die before they’re 55.Putin’s only available weapon is cyber war (I’m not counting Russia’s nuclear capabilities since I don’t think we’re anywhere close to going hot). Russia has an advantage there since their economy is primitive compared to the US and Europe and is much less dependent on the internet. I’m sure they can be a real nuisance in that arena but the US could always collapse the price of oil.

If Donald Trump becomes president, would it be the worst for world peace?

World peace is not going so well right now with Obama as President of the United States. If one pays a little attention a Russian nuclear sub is reported off the coast of Great Britain, Russian war ships sail through the English Channel, Russia is placing troops along Eastern Europe, NATO is returning the favor. China is absorbing the sea routes in the South China Sea, Iran is reported to be sending elite forces into Europe and the US. There is more of course and Hillary Clinton being, perhaps, a clone of Obama or worse, I would expect her to continue Obama’s foreign policy of incompetence and appeasement or possibly having a little sissy fit as she is prone to do. There is also the idea that as Hillary sold out her office of Secretary of State to the highest bidder; how many billions of dollars could she get for the Presidency and America? One may also consider the option that Obama’s actions and others that have allowed this surge of aggressive militarism on the part of Russia, China, Iran and ISIS were calculated moves to bring the world to the brink of war and to isolate America. If world peace is the objective, perhaps, we should examine the definition of peace. Is it peace at any cost? Is it peace as in the surrender of ideals and freedoms to a world wide politically correct definition of peace? What value is peace if, in fact, there is no freedom? What has been gained other than the status of a minion controlled through every aspect of his life.Having an opinion that is a little biased to the ideal of America and individual freedom as opposed to the globalistic ideal of subjugation, I will take Donald Trump’s position. As an American and, according to the Op, I would be a hard core nationalist; how is being a hard core globalist absent the ideals of individual freedom something that one should subscribe to considering that there is no definition of globalism or a surrender to a globalist agenda that would define that world peace, but would seem to advocate a continuous world war of competing forces to replace the United States. This does not even begin to describe the worldwide economic disaster that would engulf the world and quite possibly impoverish humanity.

Politics: Is Russia a global Super Power again?

No it isn't. And The downfall of Napoleons Grand Armee was The Russians Scorched Earth Policy not force of arms in the field. Everything else is you cherry picking history.
The USSR was in Afghanistan and it didn't go well for them in case you miss that day in history class.

Edit The U.S. didn't lose in Vietnam we killed over 1 million enemy Soldier's that's not counting The Russian and Chinese military advisors. The VC were practically annihilated during The Tet Offensive. In case you forgot stupid. We bombed the living shyt out of the North during Operation Linebacker II The Paris Peace Accords followed quickly. The fuccen Democrats in Congress wouldn't let us honor our treaty obligations if the North invaded the South which is exactly what they did they cut off funding and supplies. Then Saigon fell of April of 1975. I love it when you idiot Progressives keep trying to re write history.

Why is America more powerful than Russia?

America is "more powerfull" than Russia because the USSR wans't built like China and tried to mimic them but failed to,and thus, they decided that they needed to give Russia democracy in little doses so that they were prepared for the eventual fall of the USSR.With the fall of the USSR,Russia has taken a different form of getting the world to acept the power of the Russian Bear-economic dependence and a massive millitary arm with a man who dosn't give a fuck (Putin).Although this plan is working,it is making Russia slow and unable to change their posistion in this world as they are waiting for a fall in the Saudi's gas and are waiting for a massive gas increase in prices for the EU as they are dependent on Russian gas,but they have been turing it down because of Ukraine.Eventually,it might become too hard to bare and they will fall into the plan that has been devised. But only time will tell
