Going To Melbourne How Much Money Will I Need

How much do you need to earn to live in Melbourne, Australia?

Melbourne's not cheap. Of course you live anywhere in a range. Assuming a fairly 'typical' life in the inner city (within 8km of the CBD):Rent: $400 p/w = $20,800 p/y for a small two-bedroom in a reasonably interesting part of town (not too urban)Car costs: $5,000 p/y in depreciation, fuel, maintenance, insurance and registration for an average $20,000 car. Most people in Melbourne need a car. You'll get the odd parking fine too.Public transport: Commonly used (even if you do have a car) but expensive. Annual myki pass: $1500Health insurance: Negligible, you can use government healthFood: Groceries are expensive - budget $200 p/w or $10,400 p/y (assuming you don't cook everything at home, but do a few meals a week)Going out: Let's say you eat out two-three a week in a reasonably nice place (or more often in cheaper places) - that's $100 p/w or $5,000 p/y. (excluding going out for drinks. Everyone has different lifestyles)Holidays/flying home: leave $5,000 on the sideTotal: ~$48,000, which translates to a pre-tax salary of about $75,000 AUD with a bit of buffer, and that's saving nothing. (The above is simplified and assumes all costs are continuous throughout the year, and as I mentioned is typical of a non-frugal but not extreme 'typical' lifestyle)

How long it takes to see melbourne zoo?

Well it depends on how closely you want to look at things, but you can probably walk right round and have a good look at most animals in four hours but six would be better (especially if you have smaller children with you - you'll need a couple of rest breaks).

What is a good amount of money to take to the royal melbourne show?

Ok, so I'm 13, so I don't have much money, and me and my friends are going to the show tomorrow.

I'm really bad with money, and no matter how hard i try to save, i just can't keep it, and also, I barley get any money from my parents, and have no part time job.

My ticket is paid for, but my 2 friends have heaps of money (they both have part time jobs, I just can't find one) and one is bringing $60 and the other $100. I think this is overkill, and I'm probably bringing about $30-$50, and our tickets are already brought.

So, how much money do you guys think I should bring?
I'm getting a few show bags, that all together cost about $25, and I'll be going on a few rides. Then I want some money in case something else comes up, but I'm not sure if I have though of everything.

Thanks guys.

Oh, and P.S, should I take a backpack to the show, I know I'll look like a loser, but I really can't be bothered carrying around all of my show bags, so when I go on rides, will they have a place for me to put my bag for a few minutes?

Should me and my friends hire a locker?

Thanks guys.

How much AUD per month do I need in Melbourne, Australia to survive?

Hi, I’m living here from last 2 months but I never faced any problem because I have my family already settled here. But I think Cost of living in Melbourne varies from person to person like students need more money to survive here than people with work visa or permanent residency because students need to pay their college or university fees, rent for houses, travel expenses also higher than other people( they travel to their college/university, their workplace and other necessary places however others just have to commute to their workplace or other places of their need means not college/university). In long and short I think $2500–3000 is sufficient amount to survive in Melbourne and one can easily earn this amount even working 20 hours per week(student visa conditions) or more hours because minimum hour rate in Australia is $18/hour. Moreover, you can have an apartment on lease from $1000/month in many suburbs(even you can get rooms for less than $700/month by living as a tenant with families).

How much will it cost to live in Melbourne as an international student?

Following is a brief list of minimal per-month per-individual expenditures my friend living over there summarized to me:400 AUD for rent (4 to 6 students sharing 3-room apartment/house)123 AUD for public transport (MyKey Melbourne)150 AUD for meals/grocery (if the residents prepare meals at home)100 AUD for other personal expenses like cellular bills, pocket cash etc.For safe approximation, make it a 1000 AUD/month. This is the minimum. I hope it helps keep a rough idea.

It shouldn't cost too much if it's just a letter. I sent letters to my friend in America but can't remember how much I paid, though I know it can literally cost from $2+ to $80+, depending on the postal service you use. Just write the letter, go to the post office and ask how much it would cost.
