Good Animated Animal Movies/shows

Good animated animal movies/shows?

Hey all, I've been hankering to watch some good animated animal films (nothing disney or **** like Happy Feet and Kung Fu Panda). I'm fond of older anime's ( 50s - early 90s) UNLESS THEY ARE FULL OF FURRIES OR LIKE NARUTO, INUYASHA, FRUITS BASKET, ETC. If those kind of shows/films are all you have to offer, be my guest and shuffle along to some new question without commenting here. You won't get best answer for suggestions like that, so no point in wasting your time here.

Movies I've watched and LIKED:
- EVERYTHING from Ghibli (trust me, I've seen them all because I collect them! Even his really old stuff!)
- Kimba/Jungle Emperor Leo series & movies (1960 - 1980 - 2009)
- Last Unicorn
- Adventures of Unico
- Katie the Caterpillar
- Felidae
- Plague Dogs
- Watership Down
- Animals of Farthing Wood
- Ringing Bell of Chirin
- Arashi no Yoru Ni (one stormy night)
- Night on the Galactic Railroad
- Animal Farm
- Fritz the Cat
- The Cunning Little Vixen
- Secret of Nimh
- Jungledyret Hugo
- Cat Soup
- Chi's Sweet Home/ New Address

Movies I've watched and DIDN'T like:
- Ginga Densetsu Weed
- Ginga Nagareboshi Gin
- Balto
- Wolf's Rain
- All Dog's Go to Heaven

Any good animated wolf movies?

Specifically ones like/as good as Balto. I'm obsessed with wolves. Animated fox movies would also be good. Preferably romantic animated movies about wolves and foxes.
I've watched the fox and the hound, Balto and lady and the tramp (its not wolves or foxes but its romantic animation about animals) The more the merrier!

Thanks Shaun

Older animated movie on animals where hedgehogs get run over?

The Animals of Farthing Wood
From Wikipedia:
The television series follows the basic plots of the series of books although certain elements were changed. It followed the animals of Farthing Wood, who were forced to flee their homes after humans started destroying the wood in order to build houses. Led by Fox and guided by Toad, the animals left Farthing Wood on a journey to White Deer Park, a nature reserve where they would be protected. Unlike other children's series and films, this did not feature much comedic content but rather relied on its strong storyline and plot, and multiple main characters are killed or die during the journey.
Series 1 chronicled the journey to White Deer Park, Series 2 took place in White Deer Park and chronicled the feud between the Farthing Wood animals and the hostile blue foxes, the third, and final, series chronicled the invasion of the rats into White Deer Park and the animals' attempts to fight them off.

Three seasons of the show were produced, each based on one or more of the Farthing Wood books.
Series 1 (1992 - 1993)
The Animals of Farthing Wood
Series 2 (1994)
In the Grip of Winter
Fox's Feud
The Fox Cub Bold
Series 3 (1995)
In the Path of the Storm
Battle for the Park

In animated movies, we perfectly animate an animal but still find difficult to make human animation realistic and none succeed. Does that hint that we are far superior and special, and that the Abrahamic God created us?

Congratulations!  I hadn't heard this argument before. It's a terrible argument of course, but I hadn't heard it before.I suspect that if you think that animation of animals in movies is "perfect" but that human animation isn't, then one of two things is likely at work:you don't spend a lot of time looking at animalsyou have a different scale of perfection for humans and animals in animation.  That is not suprising, since a great deal of the human brain is dedicated to deciphering the emotional state of other humans. The goal of animation is seldom realism: if we wanted to make a film with realistic humans, we'd get some humans and film them.  It's easier and cheaper.s Addendum: I thought of something after I saved this response.   Consider: computer graphics is a fairly new field.   Let's say we can make convincing simalcrums of animals now, but there was a time (say 20 years ago) before which that was possible.   If we accept your reasoning, it would have been reasonable to accept that these animals were similarly "superior, special" as you would argue humans are now. This is another God of the Gaps argument.   As our knowledge and capabilities grow, the places where we find God get tinier and tinier.    If in 20 years we can actually do entirely convincing humans, the argument proposed here falls away.   This is a fragile framework upon which to hang your religious faith.

What animated movie had people that turned into animals. Like lions and lizard people?

Years ago, I watched a movie that had people who would change into animals. There would always be a gory mess whenever there was a fight. I remember a light room with a man in a throne, with a large snake around him I think. Another scene where to men had turned into lions and were fighting in a castle like area. There were also people who would turn into lizard people. Anyone know what I'm talking about or what it's called? :/

Any furry animated shows like Redwall?

Have you seen all three seasons of Redwall, or only the first one?

And what about Silverwing? It's similar to the style of Redwall, many episodes, but only one season. You can watch all thirteen episodes on YouTube via this user who has uploaded them: http://www.youtube.com/user/xRunningstarx.

What about animal book series - have you read Warriors or Guardians of Ga'Hoole? They are fantastic series, and Warriors is still releasing new books, though they are generally not as good as the original first six. And what about Redwall in book form? There's so many stories out there that have not been told by the three Redwall animated seasons currently released.

EDIT: Oh well then, we should have a chat sometime about animal books and movies! :D I love them too! Do you have a Gmail?

If you could have any animal sidekick from any game, movie, show, etc., as your own pet, who would it be?

I would go with the Kraken, from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. I’ve chosen it mainly for childhood nostalgia, but along with that you’ve got to admit, it’s pretty cool.Pros of having the Kraken as a pet:-Large enough to comfortably ride on its back across the ocean.-Being able to command it to sink ships if needed, or just for entertainment.-Could probably beat most other pets in a fight.-Tentacles so mighty they can suction your face off.-Source of potential inspiration for jokes and puns, such as “Kraken Attackin’.”-If times get tough, a large quantity of calamari is readily available.-Being able to say “RELEASE THE KRAKEN!”However, having a creature such as the Kraken as a pet does lead to some potential issues.Cons of having the Kraken as a pet:-Having to find enough food for a creature of that size.-Having to pay damages for ships and property that was destroyed.-Finding somewhere to keep it. I certainly know my pool wouldn’t fit it.-As illustrated in the third movie in the series, a beach is not the ideal place to park your Kraken. All in all, I’d say the pros outweigh the cons, just because of the being able to say RELEASE THE KRAKEN! And have a gigantic cephalopod sink a half dozen ships whenever I feel bored.

Why do many movies declare that no animals were harmed in the making of the movie?

What are some of the best movies that feature animals?

If by movies you also mean documentaries, I would love to suggest these animal documentaries to you!Blackfish - This documentary tells the story of Tilikum - an orca that was captured from the wild while still in his infancy. This documentary is the culmination of numerous interviews with the trainers who used to work with Tilikum and at SeaWorld. They reveal the dark side to the rosy picture we are used to seeing at aquarium parks - how these highly intelligent and sensitive creatures are subjected to highly unnatural captive conditions that severely affect their quality of life. The Cove - This film documents the investigative efforts of a team into one of the world's most horrible attacks against nature. Following a team of divers, activists, and special effects experts, they uncover the atrocities done to dolphins in a small cove in a part of Japan - where the sea runs red from all the blood from the dolphins.Project Nim - This film follows the landmark experiment to prove an ape can learn to communicate with language if raised and nurtured like a child.Winged Migration - This is a visually spectacular and breathtaking documentary following the migratory patterns of birds.March Of The Penguins  - This film follows the seasonal cycle of a penguin's activities, starting from March where Antarctic penguins will start in search of a perfect mate to start a family.MoviesBlack Beauty - Based on the novel of the same name by Anna Sewell, this movie tells the story of the horse Black Beauty. This sweeping adventure will take you on an emotional rollercoaster as Black Beauty goes through good times and bad. This will give you a peek into what humans have imagined a horse's life to be like.We Bought A Zoo - A heartwarming tale of how a family comes to buy a zoo and then form special bonds with each and every animal on their property. Are they just beasts or have they become family members?Charlotte's Web - E.B White's timeless children's tale comes to life in this movie - watch how a little girl forges unlikely friendships with her farm animals.Life Of Pi - After a shipwreck, an Indian boy finds himself stranded on a lifeboat and faced with a Bengal tiger.
