Good Idea From This College Or Not

Is it a good idea to not go to college?

College is a business decision, not a dream. Will you be able to recoup the cost of going to college with your intended degree plan. If you major in journalism, make $30K a year and paid $150K for the degree. You would not be better off than going to a carpentry trade school for $20K and making $45K per year. Now if you want to be an Engineer and you pay $75K for school and make $100K per year, school is good.Make a business decision.Consider the military too. They have college and non-college options. You can walk out with your next degree paid for. But need to be willing to fight for the Country. To me,of course I was.

What are some good reasons not to go to college?

I am answering this as someone who has earned both a B.A. and an M.A. My parents didn't give me a choice about going to college and I never questioned them about it. My high school had several vocational programs. My dad insisted that the vocational programs were “for dummies” and I was smart and would be going to college. So college it was.I chose to attend a private school out of state. My parents told me I would make lots of money in a good job after I graduated, so no need to worry about the cost. I didn't have a solid idea of what I wanted to do with my life and changed my major nearly every semester, but I learned a lot, got my Mrs., and overall had a good experience. That said, I don't know if I will recommend that my children follow in my footsteps. I have a ridiculous amount of student debt and not much to show for it. Instead of having a great career and raking in the money, I grew up to become a stay at home mom. It isn't a bad life, but it turns out I don't need a college degree to make babies. But I am a really smart stay at home mom. College gave me the benefit of learning how to think and to learn anything I want. I like the person college produced. My high school freshman daughter has told me that her post-high school plan is to work at Panera. Part of me says I should push my daughter to dream bigger and go to college. On the other hand she is not strong academically. She ptobably would not get the best grades. And for all my education I don't have any real employable skills. I have worked minimum wage jobs off and on as needed. If she really wants to work at a minimum wage job, she might as well do it without the student debt. My middle daughter dreams of becoming a baker. She get learn how through a vocational program in high school. So reasons not to go to college: It is expensive and results in student loan debt. You have no idea what to do with your life or what to study. Not all degrees lead to relevant jobs. Vocational programs and apprenticeships can lead to well paying and fulfilling jobs without tbe cost. Don't sign up just because it is expected. There are other options to a good life.

Which of the following is NOT a good idea if you have to take prescription medication while at college?

1. Always take your medicine as prescribed
2. Don't share your medicine with someone else, regardless of reason
3. Read the label or ask the pharmacist about side effects and how to avoid or reduce them
4. Keep your medicine in a place where visitors to your room/apartment can easily see it, in case of emergency

Is the electoral college a good or bad idea?

Both.
It's good that it keeps the larger states from electing the President. The problem is that the E.C. rep doesn't have to vote according to how their state popular vote went.
