Good Self Portrait Lens

How do I take a self-portrait with a film camera?

On the good ones, there is a time delay switch. Option B is a shutter release cable. Talk to a camera store, bring your camera with you. That camera should have a timer.

Best lens is 85-105 mm, that's a portrait length. A 50 mm lens will be acceptable.

Is Nikon 55-200mm lens is good for portraits?

The focal length beyond 50mm can be good for portraits. I only say “can”, because it depends on the kind of portrait you want. Portraits need not all be about the face of a person - you might want to isolate the subject with a narrow focus(use a longer focal length), or include a bit of the surroundings to show some context (use wider focal lengths), which can possibly enhance the character of the subject. Either way, the blurring out of the background is kind of an essential aspect of a portrait. The background blurring depends both on the aperture and the focal length.Wider the aperture, better is the blurring.Longer is the focal length, better is the blurring. When going for wide angle portraits, you’ll need a lens which has a very wide aperture to get pleasing results (Look at this link - Why You Shouldn't Count Out Wide Angle Lenses for Portraits)I might not have answered your question until this point. The short answer is, it depends (based on the above). Instead of buying a particular lens, its much more easier to rent out different lenses, try shooting different kind of images you want and see which one suits you best. You are then in a better position to make an informed buying choice. All the best!

How do I take a self-portrait with a DSLR?

Taking self portrait from a DSLRStep 1 --- Place camera in a steady place, use tripod or a table of good hight (u may also put pillow in chair to increase the camera hight) Step 2 - Lock AF where you want to stand in front of camera - Lock the AF on a dummy subject where you want to stand, for example lock AF on wall where you will stand when the shutter will be clicked.Step 3 - USE SELF TIMER- The best way to capture selfie from a DSLR is to use self timer. Use self-timer function for by adding 10 sec delay and get in front of your camera to get clicked. If you DSLR have vari-angle display screen (most of the Canon DSLRs have) then there is no issue, ust flip up the screen and capture.

What is the best self portrait photograph you have ever taken?

The picture on my Quora profile is actually a self-portrait, here it is in a larger version:Shot on a trip to Greece in 2012.I went for a walk in the city of Naxos around midnight and had my camera with me, when I stumbled upon these couches/chairs belonging to some club or restaurant which had closed for the night. So I put my camera on the table and hoped it would work out.I have never really done self-portraits so this is one of very few ever, so it's more like the only self-portrait I have lying around, rather than the best.I used self-timer, obviously. But I still clicked the button to initiate the timer... I guess that must count!Camera was Canon 5D with Canon 50mm f/1.8 II lens (cheap plasticky lens, but that doesn't make it bad.)Aperture f/2.2, exposure time 1/13s and ISO 640. Focus set manually. Some of the highlights are completely burned out, however I think that works very well in some cases.

What are some good and cheap cameras for portrait photos?

Really, any DSLR will do. You can get any DSLR for beginners like the Nikon D3300 or a Canon 1200D. You should invest in some good lenses for quality portraits like a 50mm or an 85mm which will give you crisp sharp images and will give you that nice blur in the background aka bokeh. With the camera body and the lens, for self portraits I'd suggest you to buy a good sturdy tripod on which you can set your camera and a wireless remote to trigger the shutter whenever you feel ready to take the shot. A camera body, a good lens, a sturdy tripod and a wireless shutter remote. That's all you need to take nice self portraits. And of course you'll get better with practice. Self portraits are very interesting so play with lighting, settings and keep editing your pictures. Try getting Photoshop or lightroom for editing and shoot in raw to get the most out of your pictures. Hope this helps. Cheers!

What is the best Canon lens for portrait photography?

I teach portrait photography - so i get this question a lot. It is way more important to understand why certain lenses are good for portraits than read over a list of lenses. If you can only get 1 lens get a prime lens. It will give you the most bang for your buck. You need a lens that is sharp and opens up to at least F1.8 . This will give you the narrow depth of field that many stunning portraits require. If you can afford 1.4 then go for it. The aperture is where the money goes on these lenses because aperture is vital for portraits.Your focal length is also important. Anything under 50mm will distort the models face. Anything above 85 will mean you need to be so far away you might struggle for space.I personally use a 50mm Cannon 1.8 for many of my photos. It is cheap and reliable. You can pick up a prime lens like this $150 USD no worries.Below are two recent portraits I took with the Canon 50 mm lens. You can see how important being able to use a wide open 1 .8 aperture which helps focus your gaze on parts of the photo and give them depth. A stock zoom lens you may get with a camera would not likely open up much past f4 and would not give you this.Good luck!
