Got Hired But Scared To Be Fired

I'm getting fired on tuesday. I'm really scared. What do I do and how do I find another job? :(?

Sorry this is long. I'm 16 years old, and I just got a job at Tim Hortons a month ago. I know I'm a slow worker, but I have some problems. I have not been taught to make half of the drinks, and a customer once ordered something, and I asked my supervisor how to make it. She got mad and said "Leave it, i'll just do it myself" and she never told me how to make it. After the customer left, I asked how how to make it again, so i won't have trouble in the future, and she told me how and said "How could you not know how to make that, it's almost the same as this other drink, blah blah blah." She has generally been very rude to me, and she blames me for things that are wrong in the store, like one time she told a co worker to tell me to mop, and i asked my co worker if i should sweep first, she said no. So I just mopped and there was large pieces of dirt and garbage left (OBVIOUSLY BECAUSE I WAS TOLD NOT TO SWEEP) and then my supervisor came and looked at me, and told me I didn't mop properly and i'm doing a half *** job.

I may have made a mistake once, where my supervisor told me to go on my break while I was doing an order, and I forgot to complete the order and I left for my break. She got really mad at me and said that I left the customer hanging, and another time when I was late because my bus dropped was late, she said it was okay, but she rubbed it in my face after.

My main concern is, I know when I go to work on Tuesday, they are going to fire me because they say that I'm a slow learner, it's only been a month, and this is my first job. They say that I'm not pouring coffee fast enough, and that I'm still having issues with the cash, and I'm not catching on. They gave me a chance to fix myself, and I have been, but i'm still not good enough for them, and I realized they don't train me properly and throw me in the shark tank and expect me to swim, and when I don't know how to swim, its just another one of there reasons to fire me, I have never been fired before and I know I'm gonna cry.

She has made racist remarks about me and my religion, and I told her im fasting, she said since your fasting, you look tired and you haven't been smiling at the customers, "just go and eat something and no one will know, you can't let your religion affect your work," But I was working well getting tipped. I know they hired me to be anti-racial. Since i'm the only colored one there

I'm scared I'll get fired. Please help?

Basically I just got a job a few weeks ago. My manager called me in and told me that he was worried I wasn't the right fit for this job. I told him I'd improve, I have t heard anything so I'm guessing I improved. Last night I went home early because I had thrown up at work due to a severe migraine. I told him that I had gotten sick and he said "I can't tell you either way to go home or to stay, just know there's chance of consequence either way" meaning I might be in trouble either way. It made me cry and a co-worker said to go home and disinfect everything just in case. She said not to worry and not to let him get to me. It has me incredibly worried, and I'm scared that if I get fired funding another job will be impossible. I'm 16. Please give me some advice.

I'm scared that I'll be incompetent and fired if I work at Wendy's. How can I avoid this?

Avoid Wendys? Dont go!!Avoid getting fired? Dont go!!You mean once hired how to keep job?You have to want to work for Wendys in particular. Study what the CEO looks like, where hes at and all policies and procedures that everyone is responsible for. Then, learn details of the job and pass with 100%. You are to go into the easy test with total confidence and not look around like you are guilty.Answer each question with confidence. Be trained with over the top confidence while being humble and trap shut. This is not funny, you are touching Wendys money and assets and serving its customers. This is where you have glory at someone elses expense. This is where you have your first real major name job for your resumé. Thats how serious and important this job is to your resumé. Dont mess up and dont act dumb. Dont Do Dumb Deeds. You must serve internal and external customers with equal aplomb. Internal are your co-workers. You need them more than you know. Share knowledge. Dont laugh. People dont get it. Tell dont get. Dont forget. Your memory will support you. You have time to think and work, but move your hands. Keep your hands busy. The cameras watch hands not eyes. Slow down with money. They’ll train you in cash handling. You can practice at home NOW. Remember the incidentals you must give the customer. Dont forget to say courtesies.Thats basically how you keep your job. What is not said is assumed. Are you offered the job after graduating the class?!Good luck. Good thing for you its a revolving door. Stay there at least 1 year or better 2 years.

Is it normal to be scared of getting fired from your job?

Hell yes!I just can talk about my own experience, I get “fired” because the company needed to reduce the budget and they decided to hire offshore developers. I remember that at that time I was devastated, I was successful there scaling up on the hierarchy and at that time I didn't understand why that happened to me, I frequently asked myself if I did something wrong. But don't worry the bad feelings will pass, just think that companies are just money making machines drove for people that may know or not how to manage them.If you get fired for any circumstance that was out of your control, just see this as a new challenge that you will need to pass in order to get to the next level.Today I can tell you that get fired was the best thing that happened to me, it helps me increase my income, to move to another city and even to another country my family is happier than ever and now I'm prepared to not depend on my job to be successful in life.If finances are one of your main concerns, read the book “Total Money Make Over” by Dave Ramsey, that is an awesome resource that enables you to be prepared to face any financial situation in life. Please share with me in one year from know and tell me how the things are doing, you will be perfectly fine.

I'm scared to get pregnant because of my job?

I was really worried once I found out that I was pregnant, because I work in a place with a lot of older people (I'm 21 and the next youngest person that I work with is 40) I thought that they'd all look down at me for being pregnant and not understand about some of the issues that come with being pregnant.

I had started this job, and then 3 weeks later found out that I was pregnant (So I was pregnant when I started but didn't know yet) I wasn't sure if they could fire me and I was really scared!

I ended up waiting until I was 4 months to tell them, and I just said that I didn't find out until then. They seemed to take it alright, and are being more supportive than I thought they'd be. I try and only take days off for Dr. visits and when I'm so sick I can't work.

I only work part time here, so I don't get benefits, so I applied for MediCal, and it is covering all of my pregnancy costs (I pay nothing out of pocket for anything, including doctor visits, medications, ultrasound, delivery, hospital stay, and after care) It's helping me a lot!

Your job can't fire you for getting pregnant...if they do, you can sue them, because there are laws against it. They can fire you for anything else though still...that is my only concern right now. They can fire you for something as small as being late.

Also, when you do take maternity leave (or disability) they have to have a job for you when you return from that. It might not be the same position, but they have to have a job at the same pay and hours when you return (that's also a law).

Hope this helps!

I always feel depressed after work, constantly scared of being fired or laid off?

Not to freak you out, but in this economy you should be scared. I was at my job for 8 years, I did a GREAT job but it got so slow. I felt that way for over a year and last Oct. they proved me right. I was laid off. You should prepare yourself. Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.

Got a job a Dairy Queen and I'm very scared?

Call me a baby, but I am 17 and I had an interview at Dairy Queen today. I got hired on the spot. He said I can start whenever I want, which means I fill out paper work and come in as soon as possible. I'm scared to work there. I'm scared I won't pick up on things quickly cause I'm a slow learner. Employees might judge me since I'm new, since some of the employees were looking at me constantly when I came in for an interview. This is my first job so I have no experience. At the interview I forgot to ask my manager the days I can take off. I have my senior class trip, graduation, another senior class trip to a beach, and vacation in the summer. And also a soccer tournament so I'm scared I will get fired when I ask. Please put my mind at ease and tell me it's not that bad... Cause I'm thinking it will be terrible for me

I need to get a job, but I'm shy, scared of everything, and have pretty much zero confidence. What to do?

I'm 18 and just started college classes. I need to get a job, but with the way I am, I feel like I'll never get one, or if I do, I feel like I'll be horrible at it and constantly making mistakes and will get fired or something. I actually did manage to go to one store last summer and ask for an application, and they gave me one, but never ended up calling me back, so either they just decided they weren't hiring, or they got the impression that I was shy and nervous and didn't want me. I'm not sure which it was. But now I really need to get a job. I'm just so afraid though. I just know I'd screw up a job interview, because of course I'm going to be nervous. And when I'm nervous I always end up stuttering or saying something stupid, and my body starts shaking. I can just picture being asked a question that catches me off guard, and I'd just sit there blathering like an idiot, or I would just not even know what to say. And if I did manage to get a job because by some miracle, the manager didn't get the impression that I'm a complete nutjob, I'd still be nervous and I'd just be petrified that I'd make mistakes and be humiliated in front of a bunch of people, or make the manager really mad. And I pretty much have to get a job in a store or in a restaurant where I'd work behind the counter, and I'm really not good at figuring out how to do manual things like that (like working at the cash register). I just don't know what to do. Sometime in the next few days I have to start going to places to see if they're hiring and get applications, and I know you have to present yourself to the manager as confident, and I just know that no matter how much I try, I'm NOT going to come across that way, because I'm NOT confident at all, I'm just a nervous wreck. I hate that I am like this, and I know it's probably going to ruin my life if I can't stop being this way. How do I not be so nervous and afraid?

I got fired from Hollister but recently got hired at Abercrombie?

I got fired from hollister 7 months ago. My old manager hated me and kept writing me up for stupid stuff. After 3 write ups, I was fired. I recently applied and was hired at Abercrombie. I go tomorrow so they can do the paper work for me but I'm scared because what if they can no longer give me the job after they see i was fired before?! Serious answers please! I need this job to pay for school and its the only one that hired me. I'm panicking!

How do i break it to my family that i got fired?

Yeah, lying makes things harder. You have to remember what you said .

A better term than fired is let go. I don't know why you lost your job. Maybe it was your job performance or something you did. Or maybe like I say below something the company does to save money.

First of all, do you qualify for unemployment? If so, do the paperwork asap. They are going to ask you why you were fired. Google and find out how to apply in your state. Some want you to do it online.

In these times, companies hire people then let them go before their benefits or unemployment kick in. It is a cost cutting measure. See companies have to pay into a fund when they let qualified workers go. So it might not have been you. That is why you need to talk it out with people.

The unemployment office may have a person who does resumes and generic cover letters. They can sit there in fifteen minutes and compose something that will take you hours to do. They e-mail to you so you can print or send them from your computer. They also have job listings and programs you take advantage of.

Do you know about the Job Corps. www.jobcorps.gov 800-733-JOBS. Check them out.

With the help of friends and family find an explanation of why you were fired to give a prospective employer. Remember you were let go not fired unless they gave you a letter with that wording. Reason I say that is sometimes it is asked on an employment application. You don't want to go there.

If you were let go do to job performance. Turn it into a positive. You didn't have the competency in the skills required to do well at job. If it was do to being late or not showing up, use being let go was a wake up call to be more responsible and mature. Again google and there will be stuff that tells you how to handle losing a job on interviews and employment applications.

Re your family. They lecture because they care. Use what they are saying to improve.

Good luck.
