They wear contacts .. and players have had to go off in the past when they come out (spares are carried with the first aid supplies!)

If they didnt .... perhaps that explains some of the easy misses on goal that some players do!! .... lets hope the Arsenal lads all have a check up at Specsavers before the start of the season!

edit : just found this ... apparantly footballers CAN wear glasses!

Wearing glasses in volleyball?

I'm stuck in the same situation as you are! I tried playing without glasses the first couple of practices since season started, only to realize how horrifyingly worse my vision got over the summer. (Our gym walls are almost the same color as the volleyball is...) And since I got new glasses earlier this year, I have to wait 2 years or something until my insurance lets me get a new pair or contacts. I'd really prefer having contacts right now, but it's not really an option.

What I did, was go to a sporting goods store (Sports Authority is theo ne I went to, you can probably find some around you), and look for the eyeglass holders. The neoprene ones looked like they'd work well for me, but I just found that it dug the glasses into my skin. I finally found one that has an adjustable cord in the back so I can have it loose, but not loose enough that it slips off. You really need to look around for the right one and make sure it'll be comfortable when you play.

How to convince my mom to get me new glasses?

As a fellow eye glass wearer, I can truly say been there done that.
Now I wait a couple of days before I make my final selection and I try and take someone with me who's taste I trust. I have had to wait it out myself. Trust me by the time you save the money you will like something else more. Everyone is being careful with their money right now so I really can't blame your Mom.So Yes save the money yourself. Put together a flyer for babysitting and Mother's helper, put on your flyer the idea of " I will help the kids with homework while you make dinner or do your grocery shopping. It will take some time but you will be proud of what you have done. Good Luck and God Bless your efforts!

Will my glasses marks go away and if they will how long will it take?

Try massaging that area to increase blood flow to that area. The top epidermis is probably damaged(in a way ,calloused) from the constant weight of the glasses...it will probably take a while before that skin is renewed, though.
