Guidelines About How For The Best Marks In College Or University

College vs. University?

Hi, I'm 18 years old and I'm currently in high school. I'm doing a victory lap not to upgrade marks to get into any specific program but because I was unable to graduate due to some setbacks that come with my ADHD, unfortunately.

Basically, I've never experienced either types of post-secondary schooling and I'm looking for opinions from anyone who has, is or is working towards either. I've heard plenty of different things about both and I guess I'm looking for further clarification as I decide what really is best for me.

My questions are...
What exactly is the difference between the two?
Why is university generally considered to be "better" and for "more intelligent people" while college is considered to be "easier" and for "people who aren't AS bright"? Doesn't it just depend on what area of work one wants to get into?

Detail and any additional information is appreciated! Thank you!

Gr.11 Math : MCR3U (University) Functions "vs" MCF3M (College/University)?

Hi there. Last year in grade ten my marks were in the high 50s as well. This semester I took University/College math but next semester I am taking University math. Last year I felt that I was not well focused in class and I did not ask for help enough. This year I changed my study habits and I have a 90 in this class. About half of the course is grade ten review which I found very easy and the second half is introducing functions which is also fairly easy. If you feel that you can redouble your efforts and take University math, then go for it! If not, take U/C and maybe do what I did and take U math second semester.

Cancelation of admission from one course or college to other follows a procedure given below:1. Before canceling your admission and running for any other college , check and confirm with the college you want to get admission in, if you are applicable for admission or not i.e. if you have required marks after calculating score of best four subjects according to guidelines or not. You can visit that college for proper guidance or can check on their website.2. If after confirmation, you have required marks. Submit an application to the college in which you have taken admission and want to withdraw. Mention the certificates you have submitted in that. Fill cancellation form provided by college (or available on undergraduate admission portal), a cancelled cheque and fee receipt previously obtained. After this you can collect your original documents that you have submitted in that college.3. Since now your admission is withdrawn and cancelled, you are able to access other courses and colleges on admission portal. Follow usual procedure of admission. Fill college specific admission form online and visit college with all the required documents. Follow the admission formalities in same manner and pay fee for the new programme you have opted . Am I qualified for Harvard University?

well, it depends actually. have u participated in extracurricular activities?? and have u taken some AP's (Advanced Placements)? because APs can also help u in your admission. if u have good sat scores, then thats just one part of a story because remember, harvard and stanford want to admit a unique person. so try doing tons of community service. and btw, i dont think they'll look at yr 6th and 8th grade results because your transcript covers from 9th to 12th grade marks, so dont worry... and try to get straight A's.
(P.S: oh yes my friend, dont worry about what will happen if you get A's and B's because it will just decrease your confidence. Just give it your best shot! and think that u'll do it! :) )
hope this helped!

Why is it so difficult to get good marks in the Calcutta University?

When I was a mere undergrad, trying to cope with the horrors of doing an honors in Physics from Calcutta University, for a brief period, I had a young professor of Economics as a neighbor. He loved Vodka and every day he'd have a peg or two of his favourite Magic Moments before going to bed. He would call me every evening, inviting me to share a drink with him which I would invariably decline politely. One fine weekend, I decided to give in to his whims and joined him for that elusive drink. So there we were, enjoying an absolutely gorgeous Calcutta evening on the terrace of our building, over vodka, kebabs, peanuts and cigarettes when I finally popped him this very same question."Sir, Calcutta University te number pawa eto shokto kano ektu bolben? Could you please tell me why it is so difficult scoring in Calcutta University?"The professor looked at me and put down his drink, took a long drag of his regular Goldflake cigarette and blew a steady stream of smoke deep into the starry Calcutta sky.And then he sighed, lost in thought. "Achha khoka shuno. When we evaluate papers, we keep 50% of the marks with us. We are given strict guidelines not to be liberal and just throw out marks like crazy.""Wait, whaaaaaaaatt?" I asked, shocked. "You're telling me that we are basically evaluated out of 50 and not 100?""Yeah, exactly!" he continued nonchalantly, as though he was discussing a common everyday topic. "We with hold 50% of your marks and if you're really exceptionally good, we start giving out marks from that 50% little by little. There are no step-wise marks. If you get it right, you get full marks, or else, a big gulla!""That's not fair," I protest."I know! Even though the answer key we are given does have step marks, but none of us really give a shit about that," the Professor explained. "In short, if you're not brilliant, tor g**d maara jabe!""But why all this nonsense!" I demand, visibly upset and angry!"Propaganda khoka, propaganda!" He exclaims, throwing his arms in the air. "You are in "Calcutta University" and there is some "status" associated with it. Baaler status, if you ask me! Just because some big shots graduated from here, we need to project ourselves as guardians of an age old center for excellence! Baaler excellence, baara!""So, we're basically fucked!" I heave a heavy, dejected sigh. The Professor nodded, "yes, you are indeed!"

Are internals important at Delhi University?

Yes, very important. DUites feel that getting internal is much harder than externals.I'm good example of it. In my first semester I took internals lightly and didn't attend the tests of one of the Generic Elective subject.I thought teacher would atleast give passing marks, but she had marked straightway Zero. The condition was like that I would fail. But somehow managed to clear it with C grade. From then on, I attend every test of internals.Besides if you are submitting your assignment in time you would score good and boost your result.

Can I include two languages in my best of four for DU?

All the suggestions you are getting here are based on their personal experiences and on former guidelines. As the VC of university has changed and he has amended some policies going on since last years so there are many possibilities for major changes in admission guidelines this year which will be in the best interest of aspirants. But according to the admission process till last year it varies from college to college as Delhi University colleges are vogue with their admission processes and guidelines (this is the harsh reality) so it depends in which college you are going to take admission. Moreover, in some off campus colleges you can choose two languages in your best of fours irrespective of core and elective,so stay positive.
