Hair Keeps Going Wavy Mens Combover

Men - thick combover style hair that needs to be flatter?

So this has always bugged me but today i realised it after running in the rain. I am a 16 year old boy and i have a similar style to the "justin bieber hair" cut, or the combover how ever you want to look at it. I have quite thick hair and when i wash it and all, it gets quite poofy and its been driving me crazy. Today after running, i saw my hair and it was thin and i loved it (although it was wet) and this also happens right after i shower, before i dry my hair. I want to get this look but keep it after it dries but am not sure from where to go. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks a lot.

What are the best hair products for a comb over?

A comb over, as the name implies is made using a comb. Not all hair products work well with a comb, but pomades are an exception. Pomades were designed for tight hairstyles like the comb over. I would recommend Baxter of California Clay Pomade for a matte finish. If you want to know more about the best pomades, or hair products check out Men's Hair Products

How do I maintain a short, wavy comb over hairstyle? (A supplemental picture is in the description.)

That hair style is kind of high maintenance  the bottom sides and back are a taper looks like open blade with Wahl senior about a 1/2 inch up along sides and back then taper on up with clipper over comb it would require you to get it cut every 10 days or so the maintain that look let it dry after combing or use blow dryer with cold shot or no heat blow in direction you want hair to go once it’s about 80 % dry take some stiff hold gel , about  a dime size in palm of your hand with a few drops of water rub your hand together the apply in a raking motion lightly  then pat around your head then apply a few more drops of water to your hand rub together again then run finger through your hair ,  wipe hands of on towel then comb into place with wider tooth comb place your hand on the top toward front lightly and plus forward a little to push up front them let it dry then gel will stiff and dry in place to hold it for the night if when your out it starts to come loose the hit the bathroom apply a few drops of water to your hands rub together then lightly pat around your head to dampen ,then it will stiffen up again .

What are some hair styling tips for Asian men?

I'm an Asian guy, and I totally know what you mean about the hair sticking up-- apparently our hair is stronger and thicker and resists flattening down smoothly like white people hair! But that's not to worry; if you grow out the hair on the sides of your head to 3-4 inches, you can use a bit of pomade to keep it down while playing with interesting looks for the rest of your 'do! You can keep some bangs 4-5 inches long in the front of your face. This is versatile because you sweep them to the side, sweep them back (upward), or let them dangle over your forehead. In addition, you can cut the hair on the top of your head to 2-4 inches and play with some pomade/gel. This can contrast the conservative-looking side part of your bangs, for example, with a messy, just-out-of-bed look for the rest of your hair, an interesting juxtaposition that she is sure to notice. To do this, first wet your hair slightly (a shower and slightly drying it with a towel works great, or a spray bottle filled with water), and get some pomade or gel (Crew or the Japanese Gatsby Moving Rubber, for example). Put it on your fingers. Mess up your hair so it sticks up, possibly mostly waving in one direction, and rises maybe 1-2 inches from your head.To keep the hair on the sides of your head from sticking up, first wet your hair slightly. Get some pomade (American Crew seems popular, find a hold that works for you) and smoosh a small bit among your palms this time. Run them down the hair on the sides of your head, and finish by using a blow dryer at a 45 degree angle facing down and outward, held a few inches above your head for each side. The blow dryer will dry your wet, pomade-d hair in a downward direction and keep the hold for the rest of the day, helping your pomade keep loose hairs from springing up. The key is to smooth down the sides AFTER you do the top of your head, or else you'll mess up your perfectly-messed-up look! Remember to wash the remaining gunk off your hands!

I'm a guy, and when my hair is dry without any gel or anything I comb it back but it doesn't go back at all. It puffs up. I want my hair to go back and be flat and stay back. Are there any home remedies?

The reason your hair stands up is because of the grain of your hair. Hair grows in one direction and has a grain, much like wood. When you brush your hair back you are brushing against the grain. The hair will stand up, but it won't want to lie down in the opposite direction of growth. To get immediate results you need to use product to weigh the hair down. Gel, wax, pomade and hair spray will all work for this purpose. To get results without using product you need to train the hair the lie in another direction. You can do this by blow drying the hair in the direction you want it to lie, then wearing a headband to keep it in place. Over time the hair will be trained to stay that way. This is easier to do when you are just changing the direction or placement of a part with longer hair, a lot harder to do with a whole head of shorter hair. It will take a long time, and you may still look a little puffy.I think you would be more successful using hair wax to weigh the hair down. It's made of natural wax, no synthetic additives and does not dry out the hair.

Why do almost 99% of men in the world comb their hair in similar way (i.e. their hair going from left to right) and not the other way?

If you comb your hair from left to right, you get a more natural looking style. That's because our hair grows from right to left direction whereas if you comb from right to left, the volume of your hair will increase. So it's left for volume and right for natural looking hairstyle. Now idk about most people but maybe they comb their comb from left to right by just instinct. Since it gives a more natural look and hair doesn't get adjusted so easily from right to left.Hope that helped, bud.

Do women like this haircut on men?

Do women like this haircut style on men?
My hair is long enough to style it like David Beckham/Ryan Gosling's slick-back comb-over, but I don't know what to tell the hairstylist to do to get it. Is it a scissor or clipper fade on the sides and back, and a textured top? And what kind of hair product should I use, Crew?
Can you help me out? Thank you!

Difference between men side part and comb over hairstyle?

I don't think it is either. Just wavy hair combed straight back. A side part is made at the curve from the side to the top. A comb-over is much lower on the sides.

Is the comb over hair cut a gay hair style?

How to identify a gay person 101:He/she tells you he/she is gayHe/she introduces you to same gender partnerOtherwise there is no certain ways to call someone out on being gay or straight or inbetween, and fashion choices certainly are not any indicator one way or the other.
