Hard As A Rock Earwax

HELP! EAR WAX Hard as a rock!!!?

I know this is gross but seriously. I was cleaning my ears a few months ago and I noticed there was something in there and it was HARD as a rock like extremely hard. So I started doing my softening treatments I tried murine ear drops, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, olive oil and then flushing it everytime after with warm water and the bulb. This thing did NOT move or soften one bit. I am starting to think maybe one of my earrings fell in my ear lol, or something got stuck in there in my sleep. Heres the thing. Its really not bothering my hearing. Its just itchy and irritating my throat once in awhile. What the hell could this be?? Has anyone had this happen? I have been picking at it forever and its not buding, I mean not even like a little flake lol so I am starting to think its an object lodged in there or, I have a ******* tumor in my ear lol. So obviously I have to go to the doc, and they are going to kill me first with the loop. then the syringe, until they finally figure out this thing aint comming out. So then what, what are they going to do? Are they going to have to do surgery lol? Please help!! I need to know that I am not alone out there. I think I got a wax ball that has literally turned into an indestructive rock lol!!!!

My ear wax is as hard as a rock?

Ever since I was in sixth grade they have been like this. If I pick it out they will be fine for an hour. After that I get this weird liquid in my ear that hardens itself and becomes as hard as a rock. I have went to the doctors countless times and they have done nothing. What should I do.

Black ear wax hard as rock?

Margaret's answer is excellent as far as it goes. The bad news is that it is black because you have either poked yourself trying to jam something in there or you have another kind of wound. Blood turns black in the presence of other fluids. If it smells bad you have an infection and you really need to be seen tonight. Otherwise tomorrow is OK. Sooner the better though. Might sound like an old wives tale but never put anything in your ear smaller than your elbow. Get the hint? My Dad used to use a paperclip. We all cringed. And you know what? He was a deaf as a post before he needed to be. Keep on doing what you have been doing if that doesn't bother you but you might want to ask the docs advice if you have injured yourself. Don't worry about showing up with this you would be amazed at what folks put in their orifices. Ah the stories I could tell.

Why is her earwax hard?

My sister has very hard earwax and I have earwax that's like liquid if I lay on my ear without cleaning my ears it will come out. She has to use proxide to get hers out. I have a Mexican dad and a white mother. Why are we so different that's strange that we would not be the same another thing is when she sweats she doesn't have a smell like a lot of people I know she can tell she smells but everyone is blind to it while If I sweat I have a bad smell everyone can smell. I know it has something to do with genes but why are we so different?

My ear started bleeding after picking earwax!?

The wax can sometimes stick on the hair of your ear canal. So sometimes that will pull the hairs out and cause a small amount of bleeding. If you pierced your eardrum you would know it. Don't worry. If you ear wax was impacted (like a rock) then it usually does tear a little coming out. Part of the territory.

How do I get wax out of my inner ear? It hurts?

The other day I made the mistake of using a qtip because there was a lot of wax in my ear, it pushed a bunch of it deep into my ears and I could barely hear for like an hour after. My ears are completely clogged up, I can't hear well, I am super dizzy and nauseous because of it and it's driving me nuts. I don't how to get it out, It's deep in the canal.

What would happen if a rock fell into your ear?

Maybe nothing and the rock would eventually dislodge. However, there is a risk of puncturing the tympanic membrane (eardrum), which may result in deafness and infection. In all seriousness, I'd have it removed by a doctor. You don't want rocks rattling around in your head (for more than one reason)!

Is there usually ear pain with earwax removal?

Very long story.. I was swimming about 6-7 years ago and after diving into the pool, the wax in my right ear was impacted (is that the word?) and I went mostly deaf. After about 4 years I finally went to see a doctor and was told my ear wasn't pushing out the wax. They tried to flush my ear but the nurse kept using cool water. I told her to heat it up and she would turn on the hot tap water for all of about 1 second. It never warmed up. I finally gave up and just left. A few days later a chunk of wax come out of my ear. It lasted for a few months and clogged up again. This time I decided to not see that nurse. My hearing came and went and finally I broke down and got a "earwax removal kit" with a syringe and drops. I have been using the drops for about three days now, but it never said what to do with the syringe. So after I would use the drops and wait with them in my ear for a few minutes, I would fill the syringe with warm water and shoot it into my ear. Feels good but nothing big is coming out. Now I have some pressure in my ear that's bordering on pain. Is this normal? Any ideas to get it going?

Why do ear wax balls randomly come out of my ears?

Ear wax is meant to naturally come out of your ears. The function of ear wax is to keep your ears clean, capturing the dust and other foreign objects going into your ears before they can get too deep. After a time, the ear wax will undoubtedly get dirty and will need to be removed from your ears to make space for new ear wax. It’s a slow process, but because of this - ear wax will continually be moving towards your outer ear and eventually come out. So I wouldn’t worry about it too much, just get a wet cloth and clean it up when it happens and you can move on with your day. If the ear wax coming out looks odd for some reason though, I’d strongly advise visiting an audiologist.Since your ears seem to do a great job of pushing out ear wax, you shouldn’t have to worry about this but in the case of ear wax building up in your ears - it’ll be a good idea to get it removed. Here is a good site if you want to read up more about ear wax and its removal.

How can you un-block a blocked ear?

Do not use cotton buds/pencils/knitting needles or your fingers! If you have any pain in your ears, or any discharge from them, do not attempt any treatment at home, but see your GP. Most people tend to use ear wax softening drops as the first option for wax removal. These may soften the wax enough to aid the natural expulsion from the ear. There are many ear drops on the market. Some proprietary drops may be harsh to use, particularly if the person has a sensitive skin or any skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. Sodium bicarbonate ear drops can also be effective but again some people find them very drying.Rather than use such ear drops, many people find that olive oil is easily available, comfortable to use and does not need to be warmed before use. Three or four drops, two or three times a day for one to two weeks is usually sufficient, and the wax will often then come out by itself. When introducing drops into the ear, it is best to use a dropper and lay with your head on one side for a couple of minutes to allow the drops to move along the ear canal. After this period, cotton wool may be used to soak up any excess from the outside of the ear.If you often get a build-up of ear wax, using a couple of drops of olive oil once a week may help prevent the build-up.If this doesn't help, see your GP and they will use irrigation, microsuction or manual methods to remove the wax (but may have to refer you to an audiologist for the latter two). For more information, see the BTA webpage  Ear wax removal and tinnitus
