Has Anyone Ever Gotten A Top Secret Clearance For The Military

Does anyone in the military who has ever had a security clearance buy Carter Page's claim that there was no justification to investigate his ties with Russia?

if they will give a top secret security clearance to someone who was friends with anti americans, terrorists and murders…. obama and the clintons

Did anyone ever lie at meps and top security clearance about surgical scars and gottn away with it?

Your recruiter is wrong if he told you to do so. If the surgery was minor then it should not affect your enlistment at all. Regardless of the severity of your surgery if you pass the medical at MEPS then that should not have no bearing on your eligibility. However be cautious lying is frowned up on. If you lie to your security interviewer and you are caught you will be denied a security clearance. I am not saying that no one has never done it before but the doctors at MEPS will probably most likely recognize a surgical scar. What was the surgery for?

Military top secret security clearance denial?

You have a tough one there. When it comes to background checks they don't play games. I had a TS/SBI clearance when I was in the Air Force and almost lost it when I had a review at my 5 year mark. Before I went in the military I took someone to small claims court and won by default (they didn't show up). The courthouse listed the judgment in the system and put a lien on their property till I was paid. Several years later the mortgage company they owed money to for a chunk of property went to foreclose on them. Since the state had placed a lien on that property in my name I had to be cleared before they could foreclose on it. In the legal paperwork for the foreclosure my name was listed as a co-defendant due to the lien on the property. The mortgage company paid me and won the right to claim their property back in court since my lien was cleared from the record. When the court entered the foreclose on the credit history of the people I took to court they also listed the foreclosure on my credit history too. So when the Air Force came across the foreclosure on my credit record during the renewal process they initially denied my clearance renewal as they thought I had a foreclosure on my credit history which was a sign of poor financial responsibility. Thank heavens I still had the paperwork from the court to show how it was the lien that caused me to be involved with the foreclosure and that it was not me that was foreclosed on. It took me a lot of fighting with the Air Force to clear my name and then I had to fight with the credit history people to clear that off my credit report.

As I said they don't mess around. They look at things that show a person's moral track record, financial responsibility, and possible alcohol abuse (had a supervisor take me before the 1st Sarge once because he thought my drinking a fifth of J-D one weekend a month was too much). Right now about the only way you have of clearing your name would be to go in for 4 to 5 years and establish a clean record with the Army. After you have proven to the military that you can be trusted then you can try again for a security clearance. Till then they have no reason to believe that you can be trusted. Sorry but only time and a clean record can show them you are trustworthy enough for a clearance.

Online dating and top secret military clearance?

Sorry, but my BS meter went off the chart on that. If he did have a Top Secret clearance, he wouldn't be advertising it. Next, there is no prohibition of putting your photo on a social networking site unless you are performing some intelligence function where you needed to be clandestine (i.e. undercover). And if that were the case, he certainly wouldn't send a pic via e-mail to someone he has never met.

There are tons of folks with Top Secret clearances who have Facebook accounts and regularly post their pics. See below for one example.

What is a secret security clearance in the US military?

Secret is the most common security clearance. A security clearance is not only given to the military, but to civilian government employees and contractors. A clearance is given based on the following criteria: Successful completion of a background investigation, adjudication to the level of access needed to perform the job. A clearance does not give the holder carte blance access to any information at that level. There is a 'need to know' criteria in determining who needs access to information. People going around asking for information that they don't have a need to know is a counterintelligence red flag. There are two basic levels of security clearances: Secret and Top Secret. Within the TS category there are multiple subcategories and compartments for which the holder can be given access based on their need to know (e.g., SCI) and what the job requires. You get a security clearance based on the job you are working on which requires one. If you don't have a clearance, your employer will have to sponsor you for one. You cannot apply to a clearance on your own. I know many contractor employers won't employ you for a position requiring a clearance if you don't already have one, as it is a long process (6 months to a year to complete the investigation and adjudication), so they are paying you during that time to not do your job. It's a chicken and the egg situation. Easiest way to get a clearance is through the military and government. Joining the military will get you a clearance to at least a secret. Getting a government job that requires a clearance will get you the clearance s the government will offer you the job contingent on you getting the clearance and only bring you on after you get your clearance.Hope this answers your question.

Did anyone ever lie in meps and top security clearance aboout a surgery and get away with it?

Most people do. I don't know how it is for you, but when I went to MEPS, my recruiter told me to lie about my entire medical history. His exact words were "you never got chicken pox, you've never had a fever, you don't know what a headache is, and a cough sounds like the name of some type of Bosnian pastry". My medical history only has asthma(which went away when I was 8), and a tonsillectomy, but I was told to lie anyway because they can bust you on anything.

I enlisted, went to Basic, got my Secret clearance, went to Artillery school, got to my unit, and next month I'm going to Afghanistan.

But of course, run this by your recruiter first before you do anything.

Best of luck to you and thanks for raising your hand

EDIT: My recruiter told me that they do NOT have access to your medical history even though they make you sign a form releasing it to them. Ask your recruiter if he knows anything about that.

How military does secret/top secret security clearance?

I held a top secret clearance at one point in the US Army. You might be surprised at how many people hold at least a secret clearance. In general they conduct a criminal background check, they check your credit report, they may (depending on the level of the clearance) interview family members, former teachers and employers. Most of this information is available on the applications you fill out when you enter the military. You will list the schools you have attended, jobs you have held, and organizations, such as boy scouts for instance, that you were a part of.
There are clearances that are higher than top secret and for those I cannot comment on what checks are performed. But in general they have the information they need when you enlist or they can get it through public channels.
I honestly don't know exactly what questions they ask in interviews but my guess would be that accusations of criminal activity would be verified by some official source if possible before they denied you a clearance. Its not a privilege after all its generally a job requirement. The government issues you a clearance because it suits their needs not the other way around.

added: The above poster is right that there are not too many MOS that require a Top Secret but at least at the Battalion level (when I was in) there are usually several positions (not MOS but assigned roles so to speak) that require one. I can only speak about the enlisted point of view also. I am not sure about what officers are required to have.

Has anyone been interviewed as part of secret security clearance investigation at Army, AF, etc. boot camps?

You will only be interviewed for a secret security clearance if your clearance requires a background investigation, or a special background investigation. Often, for a secret security clearance, and ENTNAC (Entrance National Agency Check) is all that is required.

Naturally, that can change on a case by case basis. For example, if they discover something you failed to mention on your background questionnaire, an investigator may come to you at some point to clarify whatever they discovered. What they are trying to determine is if you are reliable when it comes to sensitive information. If they believe that you are trying to conceal something, they will interview you and anyone else they feel a need to.

I've posted a link that goes into detail about how clearances are granted below:

Has anyone had bad credit and still got a security clearance?

Yes you can. I have un paid debt to over 5 companies, ($2000.00 total) and I'm never going to pay it, long story and I wouldn't recommend it. All you have to do, is when you go for your interview they go over your credit report. You then contact the compony you owe money to, and give them a $5.00 payment. In my case it cost me $15.00 to make a $5.00 payment over the phone. Once you do this, you report to your investigating officer, that you are making payments to the company to clear this debt. And you are not lieing when you say this, because it is true. One payment is still a payment. It does not show what you are paying, but that you are making payments. This will satisify him and you will get your clearance. I got mine, and had it for 5 years now, and all the company's got was 5 bucks each! Don't expect anything above secret though.
