How does Adipex help for weight loss?

Hollie,The following is my PERSONAL opinion based on 55+ years fighting obesity and, over the years, exposure to almost every diet ever devised including the infamous “rainbow pill" diet later banned by FDA because it was dangerous.Adipex is a drug called phentermine. It is closely related to amphetamines and has a variety of very bad possible side effects. It affects heart rhythm!Knowing what I learned years later, in Pharmacy school, I am APPALLED that my doctors prescribed similar drugs for me!My opinion = it is NOT safe.People, including me, have always sought a quick fix for all sorts of problems including weight issues. At 71.5, I KNOW there are NO quick fixes to anything! In MY personal experience, Weight Watchers(r) has worked best. For one particular reason: their programs get people to THINK about what they are eating. NO foods are prohibited. You balance what you eat. In short, Weight Watchers(r) TEACHES.All diets will result in short term weight loss. Very few work over the long term. Those that sell you prepared, premeasured, foods work. BUT, they teach little. Continued success requires continued food purchase.Disclaimer: I have NO relationship to Weight Watchers(r) other than having actively participated three times in my life and sort of following a very old version most of the time.

How can I lose weight rapidly using phentermine(adipex)?

eat properly. Exercise hard.

Has anyone taken Phentermine (37.5 mg) for weight loss and if so - what was your result?

I had good results with phentermine, nothing else i had ever tried worked. In 2006 i started taking phentermine and by the end of 5 months i had lost 75 pounds. I was on a low calorie diet 800-1000 calories a day (dr. recommended) and i walked at least 30 minutes a day. There were a few bothersome side effects. In the beginning my pulse was rapid, it went back to normal once the meds were fully in my system. I was irritable a lot, plenty of crying spells. My mouth was very dry and it increased my sweating, also it can cause constipation. So i drank plenty of water and took fiber supplements. I did okay after i was off the medicine, no significant weight gain, that is until i got pregnant. I am back on the medication again going on 4 months now and have lost 40 pounds. The weight loss this time around isn't as quick as the last time, but i also don't have as much to lose as i did when i first started with phentermine. I hope this helps good luck with your weight loss.

(additional info)
You may want to try half a dose and work your way up to the full dosage, that is what i had to do. The first day i took the full dose and i was quite uncomfortable as well, pulse was way to rapid, thought i was going to stroke out or something. Felt like my heart was jumping up to my throat. Try to give it a week at half of the pill and see how that works. Remember to drink plenty of water so you mouth isn't quite as dry.

Has anyone has good results with phentermine (Weight Loss)?

I started taking phentermine in may of 06 and by november of 06 i was down 75 pounds which helped me be a skinny bride. In the first month alone i lost 17 pounds. While taking phentermine i walked for at least 30 minutes a day and ate about 1200 calories. Now if you go off the phentermine and go back to bad eating habits you will gain the weight back. I learned that by becoming pregnant and eating way more than i should of. So needless to say i got back on the phentermine and the weight is coming off again. Some of the side effects are increased sweating ,at first a great sense of well being then mood swings (sometimes extreme), insomnia, rapid heart beat, and constipation, so drink alot of water while taking this medication. I am taking the phentermine under the care of my doctor and getting a prescription is much cheaper ($28 at walmart) and safer then ordering online. I have tried a few over the counter products because i was worried about the mood swings phentermine can cause but i have not found anything that gives good results. 5 pounds is about all the otc products would help with. I hope this has helped and good luck with your weight loss.

Has anyone who has taken the weight loss medication phentermine had any bad side effects or serious issues?

I took phentermine for 3 months and experienced the usual side effects such as mild nausea, dizziness and dry mouth but I have read some serious cases - this is one taken from the phentermine forum by a girl from Florida - "I'll preface this saying my reasons for taking phentermine were to achieve a quick weight loss without hassle and to try an easy fix first. I took it starting in October and never really saw any results. I also started a hard workout regimen at the same time, however, and the inches fell off. My weight (I've built a lot of muscle) is about the same-172 give or take. While I lost 6 pounds in the 2 months I took phentermine, that's child's play compared to most users' loss. I drank lots of water, ate right, slept enough, and drank moderately. That needs to be said. On the 8th I had a seizure. I've never had. History of them, and I didn't know i had one at the time. I left my workout class that morning and drove home, about a 5 minute drive, feeling okay (I later learned that I mentioned to my instructor that I felt off. I don't remember this). The last thing I remember is parking my car outside of my house. I woke up (that's the easiest way to describe it..came to/woke up/became aware) 40 minutes later and thought I'd bitten my tongue and cheek and that I'd fallen asleep in the car (who knows WHY I would think that). Long story short, i had a seizure and was in the hospital for a few days. They determined that the phentermine was the cause. I just caution you all when using this drug. It does what it says it will, and I never thought this could happen to me, but it can. Be careful!"I'm not apposed to phentermine and I think it really helps lots of people, me included, but that doctors aren't always super responsible or honest when prescribing it. Like the girl says, be careful and monitor how you feel - the vast vast majority of people are fine but like most medications there are risks
