Has Anyone With Seborrhoeic Dermatitis Dandruff Found A Product That Helps The Scalp

How to get rid of seborrhoeic dermatitis on scalp?

I'm 14 and I've had it since I was about 8 i think...I'm a girl and I have really long hair. When i was like 8, i had this stuff that looked like dandruff except it was BRIGHT RED and it was on my scalp. I went to the dermatologist and she said it was called "seborrhea". Since then, It's turned white, but occasionally in the summer the dandruff stuff turns green and it's really gross. I think the doctor told me to use "Selsun Blue" shampoo, but i don't remember if it helped or not. I also have been using this type of shampoo called "T-gel" for years but it doesn't do anything either. i tried using "head and shoulders"and that made it itchier.
I don't shower every day for a number of reasons- I don't have time, I have really dry hair and it ges even frizzier than normal when I shower every day, and I straighten my hair and it takes 2-3 hours to straighten it, and I don't have time to wash that out and straighten it again every day. I have noticed that if I don't wash my hair for a long time it gets worse, but I ALWAYS have the dandruff stuff, even while I'm in the shower after i use shampoo, it's still there.
It's REALLY itchy and flaky, and my scalp always feels like it's soaking wet. when I'm at school, It gets so itchy that I HAVE to embarass myself by scratching it, and then flakes start flying everywhere and I'm sure everyone can see it. and if for some reason, the flakes don't visibly fall everywhere, they get stuck in huge clumps under my fingernails and then i have to get it out without anyone seeing.
Does anyone have tips or know of products (available to/in th US) that can help change this? its very gross and uncomfortable.

How do I completely cure seborrheic dermatitis from face and scalp?

Cut back on eating “junk” food such as processed foods (cake, cookies, french fries, anything in the middle aisles of your grocery store). Eat fruits and vegetables. Changing these dietary choices can help heal your gut.Take a supplement. Usually people who suffer from seborrheic dermatitis are deficit in Vitamin D, fish oil and probiotics. So introduce supplements into your diet until you skin heals. Also, taking Capyrlic pills help to clean the fungus out of your body and gut (intestinal track).Drink plenty of water and get 8 hours restEliminate stress in your life.Use cocount oil and Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar (with the Mother). Coconut oil has mixed results but so many people (different races) say that washing their face and scalp weekly with Braggs works wonders. If you use another Apple Cider Vinegar, it won't work. The mother helpsto change the Ph of your skin.If you use corticosteroids, please stop! I mean, if you are having a severe breakout than use them. Keep in mind, the steroids weaken your skin and immune system in order to kill fungi. So you may catch other infections such as yeast infections.Find out if it's seborrheic dermatitis and nor a mixture of seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis. If psoriasis is involved, you may want to use Stelara (you've seen the commercials) to help control the lesions. Seborrheic dermatitis mimics psoriasis but there is one major difference : lesions on the face. Psoriasis lesions are on other parts of the body.

How can you tell the difference between Seborrheic dermatitis and just having dry skin or dry scalp??

Dermatitis in very mild cases is hard to tell the difference especially on the scalp.

If you are experiencing any crusting over, or weeping of fluid in the affected areas, then you definitely have dermatitis.

Help with Psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis?

I was diagnosed years ago with psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis on my face, eyebrows, mustache, beard and scalp. I've been on several medications and sterroids including Alcortin A, Pramosone, Clobex to name a few, but nothing worked. I tried Cetaphil, but that only made it worse. I stumbled across a product that absolutely worked to the point that I'm locating any and everybody I can to tell them about it, because I know how embarrassing these skin conditions can be. My wife is a Mary Kay sales director and MK just launched a new all natural Botanical skin care product for sensitive skin. I wanted to try the product just to see what it would do and never did I think it would heal my skin in the way that it has. I've been on the product for over 3 months and I tell everybody how great it is, which I have never done with any other skin care that I've used from MK. You can check it out here (copy and paste link):

My wife is very successful in Mary Kay and we're not desperate and trying to get your money so please don't think that. But, I am very serious in saying this product works and excited to tell others who suffer like I did in the past. If you have any questions you can email me back or contact my wife at the number or email address on her site. Regardless of where you're located we can ship it to you. Hopes this helps and have a blessed rest of the day.

Does exist an effective way to cure seborrheic dermatitis?

Seborrheic dermatitis cannot be cured. So you can forget about pouring money into anything branded as a “cure.”The reason that it’s incurable is that it occurs in areas of naturally heavy sebum production. In people with oily skin, that sebum production is heavier. That provides a site for abundant growth of a normal skin yeast (called Pityrosporum or Malassezia). The only thing right now is just regular treatment to keep the condition under control, reduce swelling and itching, and prevent a skin infection. The order of the day is general hygiene at a high level.Wash skin thoroughly and regularly. Soften and remove scales from the hair. Apply medicated cream regularly. Change bedlinen regularly and frequently. Wear smooth-textured cotton clothing.Avoid hairstyling products. Avoid skin and hair products that contain alcohol. Avoid synthetic materials for clothes.

Can you lose hair with seborrheic dermatitis?

Yes you can lose hair with seborrheic dermatitis as the name suggests dermatitis which means inflammation, and inflamed hair follicles make hair fall out,the scaling too makes hair fall out and often in hand fulls at a time,

seborrheic dermatitis is a life long condition that never actually goes away, the best a person can do is control it with the correct shampoos and such to keep symptoms away, the best i find is Nizoral shampoo which kills the yeasts that cause the thing in the first place,

but you must keep using it to prevent it coming back again, another thing is to take B vitamin supplements this helps to stop the hair loss as it calms down the symptoms,i take vitamin B6 at 50 mg strength i take one a day with meals,

since i have taken them my hair has stopped falling out and my face is now clear too,one thing avoid sweet and sugary foods as it thrives on sugar and makes the symptoms a whole lot worse, switch to fruit and veg,

i have also installed a chlorine filter to the shower and it helps lots,my scalp is so much calmer as chlorine in water dries the scalp out so makes it scale more so it means more itching and more hair loss,

so how long it lasts is always if you stop the medicated shampoo, you only need antibiotics if it has become infected the antibiotics wont make the sebborrheic go away at all, hope this helps so maybe try the vitamins too as it realy helps it,

but yes hairloss is the first thing we notice with it and it always happens, stress can make seborrheic happen too or worsen it if you already have it,it lays dormant then strikes if we are stressed, but the hairloss makes us stressed so it becomes a vicious circle,so dont worry about the hairloss as the hair does grow back you wont go bald at all.

Best shampoo for seborrheic dermatitis?

A serious case of seborrheic dermatitis won't likely be helped by Head and Shoulders. You will need something stronger. It is best to have a shampoo and conditioner formulated to treat seborrheic dermatitis. In a rough estimate of cost going from lowest to highest:

Neutrogena T-Gel Therapeutic Shampoo, Extra Strength is available at some retail stores including Walgreens, Target, Kmart, Wal-Mart and many major grocery stores and on line at Neutrogena.com, amazon.com, drugstore.com.

Aveeno Nourish + Dandruff Control 2 in 1. Aveeno products are sold at retailers Walgreens, Wal-Mart, and Krogers to name a few but Aveeno is not as regularly available as Neurtrogena. Before making the trip to a retail store call ahead because the store might carry Aveeno regular shampoo, lotions and baby products but not the Nourish + Dandruff Control 2 in 1. It is available on line at aveeno.com, cvs.com, drugstore.com, amazon.com

American Crew Tea Tree Formula is a brand market especially for Men. It comes in a shampoo and a conditioner. It is available at major salons and on line at amazon.com.

What are good treatments for seborrheic dermatitis of the face?

I have suffered with this problem since my early twenties. I have tried every OTC product you can imagine without much success. About 2 years ago I finally decided to try a dermatologist again. He prescribed a newer medication called Elidel, it's a topical cream that I put on once a day on affected areas (usually after I take a shower). This is about the only thing I have found that works well. It doesn't completely get rid of it, but it stops the itching and the redness...and I don't get asked if I have a sunburn on my face all the time....it has been a God send.
