Having A Little Trouble With Math

I'm Always having trouble with Math. What's wrong with me?

I would suggest that either nothing is wrong with you or you may have some very common issues associated with mathematics.Dyscalculia is a learning disability associated with having trouble with mathematics and logic. Some researches suspect that dyscalculia may be as common as dyslexia. My cousin has dyscalculia and I discovered, while tutoring him, that he was always trying to do math in a certain cadence and at a certain speed. I found it fascinating, because I do believe that there is a very common cadence and speed that a typical math teacher uses. If you find that you are trying to do homework problems at a certain speed, or rhythm, try to break yourself of that. The best way to break the cadence is to look for a good one on one tutor or to sit down with your teacher to discuss problems.Many people have math anxiety and frustration that might not be associated with dyscalculia. I love and excel at mathematics mostly due to the nice endorphin hit that I get when I solve a problem. Often the longer it took and the more mistakes that I made along the way, the higher the endorphin hit. I would suggest that there’s something a bit wrong with me. For normal people, who value real accomplishment, spending hours on an effectively pointless problem should seem a bit misguided. Why does my brain chemistry reward me so much for simply replicating an answer that is on a page in the back of a book? I’m not sure.Finally, don’t conflate intelligence with mathematical ability. For many skilled mathematicians, mathematics is a drug. And many of us so enjoy the problem at hand, we sometimes forget that the solution to real world problems may not lie within mathematics. We’ll spend hours optimizing a solution, when we could have just walked down the hall and asked the guy that’s being doing something 30 years what he would do.Good luck.

Trouble with math, any advice?

I SUCK at math. I'm terrible. I hate when everyone around me seems to be understanding everything and I'm sitting there insanely confused and frustrated. However, I do have an A-. I'm kinda like you I guess. I have a 4.0 gpa and stuff, but yeah math is my weak point. I guess what I do is this:

-If you don't understand something go to the teacher and have him/her explain it. If you still don't understand then see if they can explain it a different way.
- If you still don't get it, go to a different teacher. My school has 3 calculus teachers, so if my teacher isn't really helping me out, I'll just go to one of the others. Usually they'll explain it completely different way and you might be able understand it better.
-Another thing I do sometimes is just ask a friend that is in the class. If they understand it and can it explain it then that works too.

Good Luck!

Having a little trouble with math can anyone help?

2. Debbie is running laps at the track. She wants to average 100 seconds per lap on her last set of 4. For the first 3 laps, she ran 98 seconds, 103 seconds, and 101 seconds. How fast does she need to run the last lap?

3. Janet rides her bike to work at a speed of12 miles per hour. It takes her 1/3 hour to get there from her house. How long is her bike ride to work

5. Bobby and Chuck are playing in the backyard busily filling a big bucket with mud.If they could fill the bucket together in 15 minutes and it wold take bobby 40 minutes to fill it alone, how long would it take Chuck to fill the bucket?

6. George and Stanley are building a stone fence. They can complete the fence together in 8 hours, and George can complete it in 24 hours working alone. If they work together for 6 hours, then Stanley goes to the pub for a pint, how much longer must George work to finish the fence?

7. How much water should be added to 10ml of a 10% acid solution to make it a 5% solution?

I'm having a little trouble with this math problem. Anyone care to help?

n = number of nickles
q = number of quarters

n + q = 42
5n + 25q = 530 (cents)

-5n - 5q = -210
5n + 25q = 530
20q = 320
q = 16

n + 16 = 42
n = 26

Math Problem help please?

Let x be the number of months.

The average cost per month is the total paid, divided by the number of months (x).

The total paid is the sum of
(a) the $250 security deposit, and
(b) $500 for each month (500x).

So our function for the average cost per month is
f(x) = (500x + 250) / x = 500 + 250/x

Plotting some points:
x f(x)
1 750
2 625
3 583.33...
4 562.50
5 550
6 541.66...
and so on.

The average was $550 after 5 months. We could have found this by solving directly:
f(x) = 550 = 500 + 250/x
50 = 250/x
50x = 250
x = 5

Need help with a math problem :P?

I am having a little trouble doing my math homework today. So here is the problem:

A Machine can make a box in 1 3/10 seconds. How many boxes can the machine make in 1 hour?

I tried 3600/1 x 10/13 and got 36000/13 but I have a feeling that I did it wrong :)
Will anyone be kind enough to help me out? Thanks in advance!
