Heart Attack Questions

My uncle had a heart attack..questions?

My uncle John just had a heart attack yesterday around 3pm. My aunt found him on the bedroom floor not breathing and with no pulse. 911 came and were able to revive him. He did go several minutes without oxygen though. He is at the hospital and they have sedated him. They did an Angioplasty on him to clear his arteries. 2 of the 4 main arteries were blocked. One was 100% blocked and the other was 95% blocked. They brought this body temp way down and gave him meds to paralyze him so he can't shiver. He has not been conscious since the attack..but they are purposely sedating him at this point to preserve oxygen for his brain. My family is concerned about the lack of oxygen he had to his brain between the time my aunt found him and the time the paramedics were able to revive him. They shocked his heart twice before they were able to get a weak pulse. They are planning on warming him back up tonight. What are the chances of him surviving? How likely is it that he suffered permanent brain damage? Any prayers for him would be greatly appreciated as well!

15 Year Old Heart Attack Question?

It really depends on the cause of his heart attack. If it is an inherited problem you should be screened for the same problem. If not, it is unlikely that a 15yr old would have a heart attack.

If your family history predisposes you to heart attacks, a conscious, healthy lifestyle can lessen your risk significantly.

•aim for a healthy weight
•be physically active every day
•limit consumption of alcohol
•lower high blood pressure
•reduce blood cholesterol
•reduce stress in your life

Take care

Heart questions, please answer.?

My mother, (47) had triple bypass surgery in april last year, then had a heart attack six months later, had stents, and went blind for 12 hours.

She's been fine since.

Today, she was feeling chest pain(mild) back pain, arm pain, and buzzing in her ears. She checked her blood pressure, it was 190/74.

Is high blood pressure a sign of a heart attack? She went to the hospital, but Im so worried. I listeend to her heart and heard nice, strong beats.

Could blood pressure get that high from worrying?
Im hoping she doesnt lose her vision or have another heart attack. She also has anal bleeding and her stomach is swollen. Dont know if thats a sign of heart attack, but i hope not. =(

How dangerous is 60% heart function after a heart attack?

A lot depends on what you do in response to having had a heart attack. Changing your diet to cut back on saturated fat and to cut out trans fats, losing weight if you are obese or overweight, increasing your daily activity level if you have tended to be sendetary, stopping smoking and drinking if you do either one of these things, cutting way, way back on caffeine if you consume a lot of it, (for this I'd ask the doctor's advice on how much might be safe), not doing any illegal drugs of any sort, since you don't want to risk your heart having any type of negative reaction, making sure you take a cholesterol lowering, and any other, medication as directed by your doctor, and keeping appointments and truthfully answering your doctor's questions about any of the above mentioned activities will definitely help to change the long-term outcome. You need to be aware of what it means when you have reduced heart function. This affects your heart's ability to pump oxygenated blood through your body. I'd ask the doctor for suggestions as to what activities would help to strengthen your heart. And I'd listen closely to the advice he gives you. You can also find information on this subject at the American Heart Assiciation's website. They will give you valuable information about what it all means, and what it means for you.

Can a 15 year old have a Heart Attack?

I know this might be a really ridiculous question, but I recently had some sort of anxiety/panic attack (chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, etc.) and ever since that I had some sort of fear of having a heart attack.

Again I know it's pretty ridiculous. Anways, I'm 15 years old, I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs (of course). I am overweight, but I play lots of sports. I occasionally eat fast food when I need to eat a quick dinner or something, but not often. I usually eat homemade meals mostly healthy.

I know I can't get a heart attack, but my family has a record of Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and I think Heart Problems. All I was wondering was if it was possible for me to get a heart attack at my age. I was also wondering if you guys have any advice for those anxiety/panic attacks.

Thanks! :D

Can you get a heart attack after you ate too many chillies?

You can have a heart attack anytime, but what you are more likely to feel after eating too many chillies is heartburn which has nothing to do with the heart. Heartburn is caused by the reflux of stomach acid into the esophagus. Since the stomach, esophagus and heart are all located near each other in the upper abdomen and chest, people often mistake the burning sensation of heartburn for heart attack.

Does every heart patient get a heart attack?

This is an interesting question. Some patients have a heart attack and suddenly become a heart patient, not realizing that they were even a candidate - lucky devils! Others are already bona fide heart patients and have a heart attack as a complication of their known condition. And then there are those unfortunates who are heart patients and never manage to have a heart attack. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.
