Hello. I Will Be Starting My New Job At Ross- Dress For Less From Next Week. What Do I Have To

What should I wear to a job orientation at a grocery store?

First, congrats on the new job. I would call the HR or personnel dept. and ask what is appropriate. It's always better to ask then create a bad impression. If jeans are not acceptable, borrow some cash from someone, get what is appropriate and wear it. Trust me (I've been working a long time), you always want to dress appropriately in the workplace, no matter what the standard in that particular place is. They may tell you jeans are just fine, then you'll be reassured. Good luck with your new job.

What do retail stores do with their inventory that doesn't sell?

Have you never heard of a "closeout sale"? Or "inventory blowout"? ;-) In all seriousness, retail stores don't want inventory to sit around (it is money on the shelf). Better to mark it down and move it out.Worst case, if a retailer can't move it or they prefer to not do deep discounting, a store might pass it off their aging inventory to a discount retailer (like Ross Dress for Less, TJ Maxx, Dollar General, or 99c Store). The advantage there is they can take all their inventory they don't want and just sell it in one big transaction to the discounter, so it's done and gone.Typical retail markup is 100% (double the wholesale price), so there's usually plenty of room to mark down prices and still make a profit. Even if a store has to keep marking down prices to the point that they're only breaking even or even possibly losing money on product, it's still better to do that and get fresh inventory on the shelves. The goal of a retail store is to get product that sells (quickly) so you can sell more of it. Inventory that doesn't move within 30-60 days needs to be disposed of and dropping the price is typically how that is done.

Is shopping at target for clothes good or bad?

I'M GOING TO LET YOU GUYS IN ON A SECRECT........but first i wanted to point out that while I was reading everyone's comments I see a lot of "Target's great" "who care's about name brands" blah, blah, blah. Don't get me wrong, that is so true but i don't think you should create your wardrobe there. I love target...hey i was an employee, but face it...its cheap and you get what you pay for. That crap will be worth nothing after you wash it a few times...trust me I know. READY FOR THE SECRET??? Stores like Ross dress for less, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls is much better and here's why. I work at Macys and as you may or may not know they only carry name brands. Every week there is new markdowns in various departments When the markdowns get to a certain price we pack the clothes up in boxes and send it to stores like Marshalls....thats how they get their clothes. So if you thought they carried name brands for cheap prices because something was wrong with them then you are completely wrong. So if you want clothes that LAST then forget Target and go to Tj Maxx you can get name brands for the same price as the clothes at target. I bought a real nice $150.00 Rocawear winter coat for $51.00 last winter at Marshalls and I got some Steve Madden boots for $19.99 today at Ross dress for less...and trust, Steve Madden's aren't cheap! Even if urban styles like Rocawear isn't your thing they have plenty of styles to choose from.

Are the branded items in Ross and TJ Maxx authentic?

They're genuine. However, don't expect to get MSRP for the items. Several vendors mark their items in such a way that they can't be returned to the original store. For example, Hollister and American Eagle actually cross out their names in the garment label with a sharpie.Or in many cases the item is past season for the original vendor or the item didn't sell well in the original store because of color or design. To complicate matters some brands, like Michael Kors specifically design for resalers like TJ Maxx and Ross, these designs will still have the $300 MSRP tag attached, but will really only sell for $80–130.Most people who are going to spend a lot of money on a branded item know they can get it for much cheaper at a resaler. So your item is going to sell accordingly. For example, a brand new Ralph Lauren men's polo shirt might have an MSRP of $95, but most people know you can buy it from $25–30 at a resaler.Point is that the item is genuine, Vendors are crazy about their rules for how Ross, Marshall's, Maxx can sell their items and would drop out of their lineup in a heartbeat if these companies started selling fakes. That being said, genuine does not mean you're going to get full MSRP on the item if you were to sell it on eBay (MK purse buyers know exactly what's MK Outlet and what came from Ross). You can absolutely try to sell it, but I'd just return it for the cash.
