How do I ask for asylum in Canada?

The vast majority of cases will involve someone arriving in the United States or Canada and then requesting asylum once there. This will initiate a long process to determine whether someone has a legitimate claim for asylum based on the criteria laid out in the 1951 refugee convention. There are appeals built into the process but those found to not have a legitimate claim will be deported.

Can syrians ask for asylum in USA?

Yes, citizens from Syria can apply for asylum in the U.S. However, to apply for asylum, you must prove that you have been persecuted and/or fear future persecution on account of your race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group (depending on the country, a social group can include such groups as women, homosexuals, etc.).

How can I seek asylum from Nigeria to Canada?

You cannot. Nigeria is not a country where the citizens are considered under threats.Try moving to Syria - then yo would qualify for asylum - and to get that you’d have to find the Canadian high commissioner in Syria to register. They will then make sure that you qualify and give you free transport to Canada. From Nigeria?NEVERYou are free to apply to immigrate to Canada.Every single applicant from anywhere in the world has to go through exactly the same routine.First, start here.If you have the money, show it and continue. No money - no application (and no refugee status.)It costs about CAD 2 000 for one person for any visa. It takes from one to five years to get.Do you want to come to Canada, or extend your stay?

Can I ask for asylum just because my country is officially at war with an other country?

You can ask for asylum for any reason you like. You can ask for asylum because the Steelers lost to the Seahawks last Thursday. The question is, will a State party to the Refugee Convention grant you that asylum? And the answer is no.Asylum requires that you have a well-founded fear of persecution in your home country for your race, religion, nationality, social group, or political opinion. The fact that your home country is at war with another country does not prove any of these facts. If your home country is losing and the winner is rampaging through its territory, torturing and robbing everyone of your nationality, that would give you a well-founded fear of persecution. But your home country just being at war is not enough to show a well-founded fear of that happening. In your comment you mention that you are a pacifist. That would raise the question of whether your own government will persecute you in wartime for being a pacifist, which would be a political opinion and possibly also give you a right to asylum. If you can show that your home country would jail you just for being a pacifist, or even just for voicing your pacifist opinions and being against the war, I’m pretty sure that would be enough to show a well-founded fear of persecution and get you asylum. But what if your country would allow you to speak your mind, but would still draft you (along with everyone else) into the army and force you to serve in the war? That’s a harder question. In America, and I think several other Western countries, pacifists and other “conscientious objectors” can legally be forced into the military (although America hasn’t done that for for over forty years), but in consideration of their beliefs they can demand noncombat roles where they will not have to kill anyone themselves. I thus doubt that America would grant asylum to you if your own country had a similar policy; I’m not sure if other countries would see it the same way. And if your country forced you to serve in a combat role and imprisoned you for refusing to fight, I’m still not sure if that would be considered persecution on grounds of political opinion, even though it would be against the practices of several advanced Western countries. Just because we make allowances for pacifists’ consciences doesn’t necessarily mean that international law requires everybody else to do so.

My question is about applying for asylum in germany?

I am a Filipina married to a Syrian. My children have dual citizenship. We are planning to apply for asylum in germany. We will use their filipino passport to enter frankfurt since Filipinos are not required to have transit visa to frankfurt. When we get there, we will present their syrian passport to the immigration Officer. Is this plan possible? I am scared they will not accept us because of their dual citizenship. Please advice. Thank you
