Help Me My Foot Really Hurts

Hurt my foot and can't walk?! help 10 pts?

You really need to go have an x-ray.
A fracture can mimick the symptoms of a sprain. (swelling, bruising, pain, ect)
You may be able to walk on it, move your foot, rotate your ankle, wiggle your toes, ect.
It can still be broken.
The difference is, is if its a sprain, it is going to be wrapped, you may be given crutches, told to elevate it, ice it in 30 minute intervals, and to rest it, as well as take ibuprofen.
With a break, especially if you twisted it, a relatively minor fracture, can become much worse, very quickly. Using it/walking on it can cause further fractures and can cause you a lot of issues, that wouldn't be there if you had just been put in a cast in the first place.

Not treating a very minor fracture is how I ended up having a full ankle reconstruction, and having to use crutches, having a painful surgery and then painful PT. It took me about 6 months to be able to exercise normally, and still 2 years later, I have issues with that ankle being very weak.

Its not worth it in the long run. Its far better to go to the doctor and have an x-ray, and find out it is only a sprain. Then to not treat a fracture.

I stomped my foot really hard and now it hurts?

Hello,

First of all I am sorry that you have this pain which prevents you from walking normally.

It is difficult to say exactly what it is based on the info you provided. It does sound like a bad bruise though.

In order to get a good diagnosis please answer these questions:

1) Do you have "extra" pain when you first get up in the morning and take a few steps?
2) Did you start any sports activity lately?
3) Where exactly is the pain located in your heel (bottom/back)?
4) Is there any redness or swelling visible?
5) Is it painful to the touch?
6) Do you have high or low arches?
7) were you barefoot when it happened?

Here are a few things you can do right now:

1) Ice your heel at least 4 times a day, either by applying ice directly or by rolling a frozen bottle under your heel and arch when you sit down.

2) Avoid walking on your hurt heel/foot for a few days.

3) Wrap it up with an ace bandage

Again, if you can answer my questions I would be happy to assist you further.

Feel Better!

I stomped my foot really hard & hurt my heel. What should I do?

Hello,

From your description it sounds like you deeply bruised your heel.

If you can answer these questions I might be able to help a little more:

1) Where exactly does it hurt in your heel?
2) Does it hurt worse after rest or sleep?
3) Is there any redness or swelling in / around your heel?
4) Do you have high or low arches in your feet?
5) Were you barefoot or wearing a show while you hurt your foot?
6) Does it also hurt when not weight bearing?

What I can advise you to do now is simply to avoid walking on your foot at all - I know this is almost impossible, especially if you work, but it indeed you hurt you heel then you have to rest your entire foot.

Take care and feel better,

Hit my foot and now its swollen and hurts?

I'm sorry to say there's a good chance that there is a fracture. Foot bones are easily broken in this situation.

The two things most important to do while waiting to see a doctor are to get a coldpack on it (frozen veggies or ice in a baggie if you have nothing better), up to 15 minutes at a time once an hour (more is not better--can damage the skin), and get off your feet and elevate the injured one above your heart. These things drain inflammation which cause pain.

In the states a lot of people take this to an ER. That's not necessary and runs up the bill. This is not generally a medical emergency. It can easily and more cheaply be treated by an orthopedist in an outpatient office where you will just be sent after being patched up in an ER anyway. Not sure where the best place to go in UK or other places where they say A&E. If you are having severe pain and need painkillers ASAP, that is one thing an ER can do.

If there is no bone displacement--which you may actually have since you see a bump--a broken foot bone can just be wrapped in an Ace wrap and treated with a Reece or postoperative (hard-soled) shoe that looks like this:

That's what the doctor does after taking an x-ray to make sure everything is aligned correctly. They'll also prescribe painkillers which you may need.

If things are not aligned correctly, you may need a closed reduction procedure (where the doctor pushes bones back into place) or even outpatient surgery to pin bones together. Most people don't though. It is worth getting it x-rayed to be sure it's not a displaced or otherwise more complicated fracture that shouldn't just be treated at home.

If you don't go to see a doctor today and decide to give it a few days, if it isn't at least starting to feel better then, that increases the chances that you have a fracture, and you should make an appointment to see a doctor and get it x-rayed.

Bottom of my feet really hurt while ice skating?

I would say it's probably arch pain. Most figure skaters get it and it's something that you kind of have to live with. The best way to try to help it is to get inserts for your skates that touch the highest point in your arch so that it is supported better. Unfortunately it will not always help but it should at least help some. I know it hurts a lot but just skate through the pain. It sucks, but that's the life of being a skater.

Hope the arch support helps!

My foot got ran over by a car and it hurts. What should I do?

What do you mean by domaint foot? In any case, your foot could be very badly damaged. An X Ray would tel you where the trouble lies. In the meanwhile, try putting a crepe bandage on it to immobilize it as far as possible. And if you had put crushed ice on it when it happened, it would not hurt so much now. But of course, that is water under the bridge now. Exposure to ultrasonic waves, which a physiotherapist could arrange, would definitely reduce the pain. Or you could try alternate hot and cold compresses. There are ointments like Capsaichin or Bengay, which you can get over the counter at a chemist shop, that would give you some relief.
I hope it heals soon. Good luck.

My feet hurt really badly after walking.....?

I just got back from vacation. now before I say anything. I was there fore a international swim meet so I'm not out of shape, and I have very high pain tolorance. anyway on the last two days of the trip I had time to kill so we walked downtown, between the two days I'd say we walked 15 or so miles. but when we got back from the hotel on day 1 my feet hurt really badly like to the point I was almost in tears. I was in tenis shoes that I've broken in and everything. now the next day I woke up and they were still hurting. but we went out anyway. by the time we got to the airport I wasn't walking on the sides of my feet the only way I could bare. Now I got home and slept most of yesturday but today my feet are still not back to normal. they don't hurt as bad but there still not right. I did have several blisters but that pain was different than what I'm talking about now. So what do you think it could have been? should I ee a doctor?

My feet really hurt when I wear shoes. I used to wear some kind of shoes which were really terrible, so recently I bought ASICS shoes with the gel and I still have the same issues. My feet still hurt when I wear them. What can I do?

You might want to try some type of a shoe insert, something with an arch in it, especially if you have very flat feet.Another thing to seriously consider given some of you descriptions, are you or could you be diabetic.  Are you overweight, crave water, etc.  Diabetes is often overlooked when thinking it could be a mechanical issue instead of a systemic issue.

Foot tattoos does it hurt?

No one can tell you if it will hurt or not. It depends on your pain tolerance. I don't think my foot really hurt all that bad....the ribs were way worse.

And if you take care of it and go to a good artist, you shouldn't have to get it touched up. I put sunscreen on mine when I go out in the sun and I use lotion on it too...it's over 2 years old and still looks great.
