Help Me To See A Suitable Course That Can Be Done After Logistics

Neurophysiology question! help please!?

John has been in a freak accident. While John's dorsal column-medial lemniscal pathway is still intact,
his primary somatosensory cortex was destroyed in the accident, resulting in his inability to perceive
touch stimuli from his skin. The accident also destroyed all of his cochlea and auditory nerves, leaving
him unable to sense auditory information . However, is auditory cortex is still functional.

Physicians think they can rewire John's touch neurons to his primary auditory cortex (both of which are
still functional) so that John is able to detect and consciously respond to touch stimuli in a meaningful
way. They have asked you to brainstorm a way for John to be able to detect touch stimuli using the
perception of audition created by his primary auditory cortex. Without discussing the logistics of the
wiring mechanism and pathways, describe how this could be done, focusing on what John will perceive
in order to decode all aspects of the incoming touch information (e.g. magnitude of the touch and
location on the body).

How would you solve it? anything helps!

Are logistics and supply chain management suited for a BCom student?

I am strong believer of acquiring multiple skills and flexibility to change the traditional tracks. There were a few MBBS students in my B school who eventually pursued a career that had little to do with healthcare. So to answer your question, more than whether it is suited for a B Com grad or not, the question is whether it is an area that you are interested in. A lot of engineers pursue a career in supply chain and there is as much commonality between engineering and supply chain as there is in B Com and supply chain.Supply chain professionals should ideally have strong quantitative ability and analytical skills. A lot of the supply chain problems are optimisation problems. Having great people skills is also necessary. If you primarily have strong analytical skills, a flair for numbers and learn the concepts of supply chain operations, you should be good to go. However, you may find it hard to directly get a job with just a B Com if you don't demonstrate an understanding of supply chain concepts.

Can I do a Six Sigma course in logistics? Will it be helpful for me in my future in the logistics field?

Six sigma is a management philosphy for reducing / eliminating variances in any business process & there by maximising the business performance. It uses a structured methodology ,which is known as DMAIC ( Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve & control processes) with the application of basic & advanced statistical tools. Key highlights of this process is to define the problem correctly, create a measurement system, collect unbiased raw data in systematic way, analyse it using appropriate statistical tools & techniques, arrive at root cause, develop solution & check it's effectiveness by using hypothetical testing & introduce measures for holding the gain & make the final process non reversible.Six sigma is a generic process & can be applied across any industries & any process.Logistics industries in India is not so organized. There is great opportunities to bring all out improvement both in hardware ( material handling & transport facilities, infrastructures ) as well as software (knowledge, skill of operating & managerial staff, effectiveness of logistics process, monitoring & control of movement of goods, interaction with customers, supplier & customer relation ship etc) . There are leakages & waste generated all over & process efficiency is very low.Any improvement in the logistics is going to create huge impact on the industries ,they are providing the service.Six sigma is one such method, the application of which will create right focus, pin point the problem areas & bring out the suitable changes to reduce the around time, improve profitability, enhance customer satisfaction, & make the last mile supply hassle free & pleasurable.Learn six sigma & implement . It will improve your foresight, analytical ability & seeing the thing in proper perspective.

Diploma in logistics management?

After being involved in inventory/logistics management for over 10 years, I've found that a degree in logistics helps...but only to a certain extent.

In regards to obtaining a good street cred...I'd say a certification with a bachelor's degree (in anything) would be very sufficient for for your needs to find a good job that pays well.
In most areas, an APICS certification and a Bachelor's Degree could help you land a job that pays a minimum of 50,000 year or more (even in the 6 figures)....depending upon the region you live in and what area of logistical expertise your in.

Good luck.

I have MBA Finance but I want to focus on logistics and supply chain management. What certification can I get to get in that direction?

I would recommend APICS however you would need to chooses either CPIM or CSCP if you just started learning about supply chain and don't have experience in that field the CPIM will be good for you but it's five modules so it will take time as you have to take the test in each one to be qualified to the next one. CSCP is just one test I'd recommend if you have supply chain experience. Also consider PMP from PMI as supply chain is all about projects and stakeholder management. Good luck
