Help My Right Pinky And Right Ring Finger Are Feeling A Little Weak And Numb

Sometimes I feel numbness in my little and ring fingers and parts of my forearm. What can be the cause of this?

It’s called ‘cubital tunnel syndrome’, I have it as well. The ulnar nerve gets compressed in the cubital tunne behind the medial epicondyle of the humerus due to various reasons. This is exacerbated by doing activities where you bend your elbow at more than 90 degrees like pushups or sleeping with your hand under your head. Repetitive compression create scar tissue which worsens the situation. The remedy is an easy surgery where the nerve is ‘released’ and woth a flap secured elsewere. It is nonetheless a surgery.Mean while, avoiding activities that bend your elbow more tban 90 degrees and keeping your arms straight while sleeping shiuld help. Also, it does it to me when I slouch or read on the bed woth my head propoed by pillow in a semi sitted position.Hope it helps.

HELP!!! My right pinky and right ring finger are feeling a little weak and numb?

I was boxing today. After boxing, my hands both felt normal, but later at home, I noticed that my right pinky and ring finger were feeling a little numb. I also can't raise those two fingers much now. There's no pain, and I still can grip a little with both those fingers. What do you guys think's the problem? I know I should I go to a doctor, but I don't have insurance. I really can't afford surgery.

I have a sharp shooting pain in my right ring finger. What could it be? Is it a nerve? ?

See your health care provider as soon as possible (orthopedic surgeon or hand specialist), for consultation. Finger pain is defined as pain in one or more fingers. Nearly everyone has injured a finger at sometime during their life. After an injury, the finger can remain a bit crooked or stiff. However, your hand can still work quite well with minor deformities. Fingers do not need to open or close completely to be functional.

Numbness or tingling in the fingers may be a sign of a problem with nerves or blood flow.

Causes

Blood flow problems
Injury
Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
Nerve problems
Osteoarthritis
Raynaud's phenomenon
Rheumatoid arthritis

Entrapment is a condition where the ulnar nerve becomes trapped or pinched due to some physiological abnormalities.
The ulnar nerve passes through many tunnels and outlets which could cause the nerve to be compressed or "pinched". Entrapment's are classified according to the location of the compressed. Some causes or origins noted could be:

Problems originating at the neck (thoracic outlet syndrome, disease of the cervical spine).

Brachial plexus abnormalities.

Elbow abnormalities (fractures, growth plate injuries, cubital tunnel problems, improper use).

Wrist abnormalities (fractures, Guyon canal problems).

Artery aneurysms or thrombosis.

Guyon's canal syndrome, sometimes called Guyon's tunnel syndrome, is a common nerve compression affecting the ulnar nerve as it passes through a tunnel in the wrist called Guyon's canal. This problem is similar to carpal tunnel syndrome but involves a completely different nerve. Symptoms include a feeling of pins-and-needles in the ring and little fingers, and may progress to a burning pain in the wrist and hand followed by decreased sensation in the ring and little fingers. One common cause of this syndrome is from pressure of bicycle handlebars seen with avid cyclists. Another is from hard, repetitive compression against a desk surface while using a computer mouse.

See a doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

I hope this helps you. And good luck.

I have numbness in my pinky, ring, and middle fingers, random pains along my arm, and a weak grip. Why?

This all started two weeks ago. I woke up in the morning with the worst back pain ever, right behind my shoulder blade. It lasted all day. That night, as I was trying to work out the muscles against a corner of the wall, my pinky and ring fingers suddenly went tingly, then numb. By the next day my middle finger was numb and I had very little grip strength between my thumb and index finger. I was also getting random spasms in my back and tricep (those are gone now). The numbness is always there, though sometimes there is less of it. The pain comes and goes seemingly at random. Sometimes the pain is *very* intense (enough to put me on the floor). My symptoms match cubital tunnel, except for the pain at different points along my arm and the fact that my middle finger is numb, too.

Why does my left pinky and ring finger stiffen when I sleep?

When I wake up in the morning, part of my hand and two fingers are numb and stiff. I have to use my other hand to work it a bit to get the feeling back and to regain the use of those fingers. There's no tingling sensation, like if I slept wrong and my hand went to sleep. This has happened on occasion for four or five years, and has been getting more frequent lately. During the day, I have near constant pain in my wrist and arm. On bad days it shoots up my arm all the way to my shoulder and neck. As of late, I've also been experiencing a lot of pain in virtually every joint on the left side of my body, but none on the right. I even have pain in my jaw on the left side. Any ideas?

Why is there a sharp nerve pain in my right pinky finger?

Hello Samantha

There are a couple of possibilities that come to mind. Keep in mind this is improv diagnosis, and not a replacement for eyes on testing.

You have three sets of nerves that supply the hand; the ulnar, the median, and the radial. The nerve that I'm suspicious of is the ulnar, and is the nerve that supplies the pinky. If there is damage or something impinging on it in the wrist area, it's called a peripheral nerve entrapment syndrome.

The other possibility is a nerve pinch either at the base of the neck or in any of several locations in a nerve complex in the shoulder area called the brachial plexus.

I suggest a neurologist will be needed to ferret out which location is the trouble site, and what to do about it. If it's the neck, the the chiropractor is most likely your helper. If it's the shoulder, often the PT will do wonders. If it's a nerve situation in the wrist, I've seen minor surgery will succeed in releasing the entrapment.

Good luck

Could white, numb fingers be a sign of a health problem? Occasionally, some fingers and toes will turn white and numb and tingle, but it goes away after a few minutes. How unusual is this?

Yes. The reason that the fingers have gone pale is that they're not receiving the correct blood supply. If this were to happen for any length of time, the tissues could begin to die. I don't know why this is happening to you but I'd definitely advise you to see a doctor as soon as possible and show him/her that photograph if you're not suffering the condition at the time of the appointment.Subject to correction from a doctor, I believe that you may be able to help your circulation by flexing the muscles in your fingers, for instance by repeatedly squeezing a rubber ball.It may be Reynaud's Disease. See: Raynaud's phenomenon .
