Help Which Of These Equations About Powers Of 10 Are True

Which answer is correct for the equation 3-3*6+2=? -13 or -17?

-13This BODMAS always lead to the confusion but only when if you are not aware of its rule.BODMAS means Bracket Open Divide Multiply Add Subtraction. In BODMAS questions BRACKETS () helps alot and elminate many confusions.In our question 3–3*6+2 we dont have divide so we will go for next i.e MULTIPLY. Put the bracket. And solve it first. 3-(3*6)+2(3*6)=18this will make our equation: 3–18+2Again put the bracket. 3(-18+2).Here you may ask one doubt WHY DID I INCLUDED MINUS SIGN OF 18 IN THE BRACKET.When we do Addition or Subtraction we always consider the sign of every number.Examples- (-10+2) = -8. SINCE “+”and “-” together results “-” hence we subtracted 2 from 10 and got 8. Now we will see which one is greater 10 or 2. Ofcourse, it is 10 and it is with the MINUS (-) sign hence ans. i.e 8 will take its sign and our ans for this example will be -8.Another example I’d like to discuss so that in future it will be helpful for you.Let's consider (-2–3). Ans will be “-5”. As per the above explanation we will see the sign of the both the numbers. Both have MINUS sign and “-” and “-” together results addition. hence we will add 3 and 2. Now again we will check which one is greater 2 or 3. It is 3 and it is with the minus sign. That's why ans is. “-5”.From the above examples what we concluded are:-Always put the bracket and in bracket dont forget to include their respective signs. i.e “+” or “-”.After performing operation dont forget to check which one is greater and give its sign to the ans.And remember for operation, for same signs do addtion and for opposite signs do subtraction.Now we can proceed with our actual questionwhere we left it.3(-18+2).=> 3–16 {.: we subtracted because we have opposite signs and -16 because 18 is greater and it has minus sign }=> (3–16) = -13 {.: minus sign because 16 is greater }.I hope all above explanations will be helpful to solve other questions.Goodluck!

Please help me solve this equation. I am getting confused about the order of operations.?

Well the Order of Operations, the order in which we do arithmetic, is called PEDMAS, which stands for Parenthisis, Exponents, Division/Multiplication, Addition/Subtraction. And to help you remember, the usual phrases that replace it is Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally. (But you can make up your own, anything that is helpful and preferable)...

So for this equation, you might want to keep "FOIL" in mind. It helps for equations like these. It stands for First, Outer(Outside), Inner(Inside), Last. It's pretty much telling you the basic way of doing it. (and it does end up with the right answer if you do the equation correctly)

So for this equation, you want to get the variable alone. Before you can do anything, you should simplify it. You can really simplify anything on the right side, but you can on the left side. By using distributive property, -6(6x-5) equals to -36x+30 as well as +6(6x+5) being +36x+30...It's pretty much the same but you're just making the equation easier by simplfying it. So now the equation is -36x+30+36x+30=x-10...Now, you have to put the "like terms" together(again for simplifying)...So -36x+36X cancels each other out. Then 30+30 equals 60. So the equation is now 60=x-10...In the beginning, I said, you want to get the variable alone. To get rid of then on the right side, you would have to do the opposite of it. Since it is negative 10, you want to put positve 10, other words add 10 to the right side. Though, when you do that, you add 10 to the left side, too. So now you should have your answer- 70=x

Here's the work (My explanation might be confusing^^;;)

-6(6x-5)+6(6x+5)=x-10
-36x+30+36x+30-=x-10
(-36x+36+30+30=x-10)
30+30=x-10
60=x-10
60+10=x-10+10
70=x

And yea

How do you solve this equation?

How can equations and inequalities be used in real life situations?

You basically used equations everyday without even notice. Like when you have to calculate “How many dollars does the sum of your grocery stuffs equal to?”. Or a more complicated situation, if you need to be in the meeting at 9:30am, the travel distance is 10km and you can only leave after 8:30am, your driving speed should equal “x” km/h.”Inequalities are used for comparison. “He is taller than me.” or “The iPhone with larger memory capacity is more expensive.”. A more complicated example is also with calculating your driving speed. “Now if there is expected traffic jam for 2km. You get out of the traffic jam at 9:00am, you have to drive faster than “x” km/h to compensate for your loss time.”Just some simple examples. There are a lots more out there, just look around.

The equation of a parabola with a vertex at (0,0) and a focus at (0, 4) is?

1. If the focus is at (0,4) , y = (1/16)x^2 (because if the distance from the vertex to the focus is p, the equation for the parabola is y = (1/(4p))(x^2) ).

This can also be written 4py^2 = x^2 (see website below).

2. If the y-term has the powers of two, the parabola opens left or right. put in standard form, your parabola is:

(y - 3)^2 = (-1/5)(x - 6). from the -1/5, we see it opens left, so false.

3. put in standard form, this is:

(y^2)/3 - (x^2)/6 = 1. since the x-term is subtracted from the y-term, it opens up/down, so false.

4. put the parabola in standard form. this is the KEY to answering ALL these questions:

y = x^2 - 10x + 25 - 25 + 2

(y - 23) = (x - 5)^2. this parabola opens up, so the axis of symmetry is of the form x = h (where (h,k) is the vertex). in standard form we can see immediately that h = 5, so x = 5 is the axis of symmetry.

5.(y + 2) = (x + 3)^2, so the axis of symmetry is x = -3.
