Help With Blu Ray Discs

How do you play Blu-ray discs with VLC?

I have searched "blu-ray to VLC" on Bing and found out the top solution here. They told me the normal reasons: like computer system, the KEYS Datebase, and AACS library issue, many people can’t play Blu-ray on VLC successfully even though they followed the above steps. So you can choose to use a Blu-ray Ripper, like Pavtube BDMagic (see other choices) to rip and backup Blu-ray to VLC supported MKV format. Therefore, you needn’t worry the system incompatibility issue and Blu-ray encryption trouble.  Source guide where I have been found.

Blu ray player won't play blu ray discs...help?

Different lasers are used in the player for BluRay, DVD, or CD. That is why a regular DVD player will not play BluRay and why your player still plays DVD if something went wrong with its BluRay laser. BluRay requires more precision than DVD because data on the disk is more dense (smaller bits).

I had a Sony DVD player once that stopped being able to read DVD when a lens in it came loose and it was only a year old, but warranty had expired.

And some time ago I was trying to see if I could get my boss' Panasonic DVD player to work, that could only rarely load a DVD if at all, but still played CD music disks without any trouble.

How to play blu ray disc?

According to the specifications for the HP630, it comes with a DVD±RW SuperMulti DL LightScribe Drive. In order to play blu-ray it needs a blu ray drive. Unless you added one (I am not even sure if one is available for your computer) you have no means of playing a blu ray disc.

I got the specs for your computer here:

Can you listen to Blu-ray discs through a Bose 3-2-1 GS Series II system that doesn’t support HD sound formats

Bottom line: Maybe.

Its a very complex subject .. given mandatory and optional requirements for players and disks and limitations for different connection types.

A complete discussion can be found at the link, but I've quoted some sections below.

You should be able to listen to the disk, but you won't hear either Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio .. you will get standard DD or DTS, so as long as your Bose model handles these, you are OK.

Caveat: I had a look at the Bose manual (2nd link) and while it mentions DD, it doesn't say specifically -- that I could find -- that it supports DTS. So IF you are correct that the disk in question does not have a DD track you could be out of luck ... since you appear to not have DTS support.

Details re advanced audio on Blu-ray

You can't get Dolby TrueHD over optical:

"TrueHD is an optional format on Blu-ray. And since TrueHD is not built in a core+extension configuration, Blu-ray discs that contain a TrueHD track are also required to contain a standard Dolby Digital AC-3 track for compatibility with players that don't support TrueHD."

"SPDIF cannot carry a TrueHD signal. If using this connection type, the player will automatically revert to playing back the standard Dolby Digital AC-3 track instead."

Similarly you won't hear DTS HD Master:

"Like DTS-HD HR, Master Audio is optional on the Blu-ray format. If the player does not support DTS-HD MA, it can extract the standard DTS core."

"SPDIF cannot carry a DTS-HD MA signal. When using this connection type, the player will extract the standard DTS core instead and transmit that as a bitstream."

See why I said it's complex??

Blu-ray disc Problem On my Pioneer BDP-51FD, Need Help?

I have the same player, but not "True Grit". In general the comments/suggestions you have read agree with my experience. Blu-ray disks sometimes don't play on some players, but do on others ... just a fact of life. It's sometimes due to "new" features of the DRM used or Java programming for extras ... and these usually get addressed in firmware updates. Pioneer may or may not have a fix in the latest firmware.

I currently have a new disk (Ghost Writer) that plays the trailers, but won't play the movie. And I have the latest firmware. I haven't tried in a second player. That said, all other disks I have tried so far play in my BDP-51FD, so this isn't a frequent issue. I'll accept the occasional incompatible disk in return for the excellent upscaling performance of the player with DVDs ... my real reason for buying the Pioneer since I still buy at least 5:1 DVD over Blu-ray.

I suggest you trade the disk and see if a new copy plays. If it doesn't there is some type of incompatibility between your disk and player. Return the disk. Other than that you will have to live with it until / if Pioneer address the problem in a future firmware update.

Help! Blu ray player skipping?

So I bought my mom a sony blu ray player last december and now it wants to skip on sertain disks. It first started skipping when we bought 2 blu ray discs avatar collecters addition and the host. So then we bought a cleaning disc for it and that jus made the skipping worse. So then we tried a movie (the sand pebbles) that we already had and it to was a blu ray disk and it played fine at first then when it went to the main screen and after we pressed play there was no picture only sound. So then we went to my philips player and I put the host in and it played fine. And while I was doing that my mom watched the shinning and it played fine. So the next day I brought mine out of my room and replaced it with the sony and we watched avatar on it and it played fine. But then we played the sand pebbles on my philips player at it did the same thing no picture only sound. It seems the sony player is being picky on which movies it wants to play. But what I can figure out is all the blu ray discs that skipped on the sony player worked fine on the philips player. But the only movie that still messes up on either player is the sand pebbles. What is going on with the player its never done this before unless of course if the discs had scratches. But the blu ray discs resist scratching but just in case I looked on the discs that were skipping and there were no marks on the discs. I also want to know if I messed it up with the cleaner disc? And it would be ashame that the player mess up when playing only after 2 years. Do I need a new player? or could there be something wrong with the HDMI cord? Although that wouldn't make sence because I'm using the same wire on my philips player that was used on the sony player. My philips player is older, mine is about 3 years old if not more. And it plays perfect I havnt had any problems with it what so ever. So I don't understand why mine being older is still going strong. Also I got the sony player off of amazon if that helps. Please help.
