Hi I Currently Get 70 5mg Diazepam A Week From My Gp.is Taken All Of Them At Same Time Dangerous.

Which is stronger Temazepam or xanax? What is the difference between them?

Alprazolam (Xanax) 0.5 mg is approx equivalent to temazepam (Restoril) 15 mg. Both are benzodiazepines with relatively short half lives. Restoril was marketed as a sleeping pill while Xanax was introduced as an anxiolytic. However, the truth is that it’s 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.Xanax has a very rapid onset of action which may make it more abusable. When taken frequently (more than once a day), rebound anxiety is common: withdrawal symptoms & anxiety return relatively soon as the blood level quickly drops, and another Xanax has to be taken to tamp down the symptoms. The dose & frequency go up & up. This doesn’t tend to happen w/ Restoril since it’s used only at bedtime & only once a day. However, if you did take Restoril regularly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see rebound anxiety.Sudden withdrawal from a high dose of Xanax (or Restoril or any benzo) can be quite dangerous & very miserable. Diazepam (Valium) & clonazepam (Klonopin) have very long half lives & are very useful when getting off shorter acting benzos like Xanax, Restoril, Ativan. If you really need to take Xanax or Ativan more than once a day, you’re probably better off on Klonopin.Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata, aren’t benzos, chemically, and are used as sedative hypnotics. However, their effects & problems are more or less the same as the benzos.I used to be much more sanguine about benzos or sleeping pills like Ambien (zolpidem). Many people can continue using them regularly at low doses for years or even decades. The benzos are, in fact, miraculous anxiolytics, just like opiates are miraculous analgesics. Avoiding addiction, however, is not so simple. If you take Ambien every night to fall asleep, you’re going to get rebound insomnia if you skip a dose & it may take weeks of misery to get your sleep normalized & drug free. If you take Xanax 3 or 4 times every day, there’s a fair chance you’re going to get into trouble (either a constantly escalating dose or severe withdrawal if your prescription runs out early)If you take the benzos or Ambien only when absolutely necessary: once, maybe twice a week, when totally stressed or jet-lagged, they will work for you, & you won’t (at least, shouldn’t) have problems. There’s no free lunch in psychopharmacology

How strong are Diazepam 2 mg tablets?

2mg is the starting dosage of Diazepam and can be treated as a PRN medication i.e. taking ONLY when absolutely necessary. They are highly addictive and will cause Physical withdrawals the same a Heroin along with psychological damage. Therefore I would advise that you avoid getting on the boat with people that have been using them for 10–20 years.Take them for a month; you can go up to 5mg tablets which you could use up to 4 x Daily. If you still require medication to control your symptoms then after 1 month/28days ask for a light dosage of a Major tranquilizer (anti-psychotic) to cope.Don’t fall into the trap because the authorities are clamping down on all Benzo’s. I’d say that if you have muscle spasms you’re safer than someone being scripted for anxiety.

How many mg of valium diazepam can kill me?

It's difficult but not impossible to overdose on diazepam. I can't give you an exact amount, but how much were you planning on taking? If you can give me a ballpark figure I could probably tell you how safe that would be. Also, do you take it regularly? That affects your tolerance and therefore the dose.

Edit: An occasional 70 mg wouldn't do any harm, but you would likely not remember what happened after taking them. I'd suggest not more than 40 to 50 mg if you don't want to have a blackout. And of course you would need to be in a safe situation and not doing anything potentially dangerous like driving or smoking cigarettes.

Edit: I don't know what FriendlyNeighborhoodDrugDealer is going on about. Diazepam affects GABA not dopamine. But s/he is right about urging caution. Benzos are not something you want to do regularly because they can be physically and psychologically addictive. I assumed you knew this, but thought I'd better add it just in case you didn't.

Is it safe to take .5mg of Ativan on a daily basis? Why?

If you really need it & the benefits outweigh the negatives for your personal situation then you kinda of don't have a choice. Try not to take them long term. Benzos aren't even designed to be taken for more than 6 months (and that's max)... Hopefully your dr did that and analyzed your situation...Sadly not all do very well though in regards to that especially in the states where overprescriptipn of such drugs is becoming a problem.Watch your memory turn into a goldfish though from using that everyday. Just a heads up lol.And it is likely that you will have to up your dose if you plan on using benzos long term, which I don't reccomend. Before you know it the dose you mentioned will barley do anything. It's called tolerance my friend.I speak from experience previously using low doses of benzos to deal with horrible anxiety due to certain things. Luckily I tapered my self off them. Severe memory & cognitive issues being the main reason as they worked wonders otherwise. They are helpful though. Only if you really need them - You and your hopefully not prescription trigger happy dr can help you decide that. Also everyday use of benzos for a month or more can lead to addiction and or physical dependence. Which isn't a pretty sight. Technically benzo withdrawl is more dangerous & apparently worse of an experience than opiate withdrawl. So that sounds bad. Something I've also had to go through - opiate withdrawal not benzo wd. Thank God I didn't take benzos for too long so I didn't get too dependent. : But don't take my word for it only. Look online at the countless benzo addiction and withdrawl experiences.Anyways. Best of luck dealing with your anxiety. There are more natural ways too so I suggest looking into that. And I know for some it doesn't suffice but good sleeping habits, daily I tense excersise for 30mins and minimizing drug use helps for some too.If the no medication route isn't your thing look int maybe less harmful but still kinda bad anxiety reducing drugs like medical cannabis or lyrica.

Ativan issues and flying/general anxiety?

Hi all,

So I have been taking Ativan for quite some time now. I seem to be able to start and stop pretty easily though. For example, I misunderstood the original instructions from my Dr and took .5mg 1x a day every day for a couple years. When my Dr said it shouldn't be taken that way I stopped taking it for months with no ill effects (other than continued anxiety/panic attacks). Now I take on average about 2 a week (still .5 mg).

My issue is that the medicine (which is the generic) hasn't really done much in a while. I mean, it still calms me a bit, but nowhere near as much as it did when I first started taking it.

Any way, I have a vacation planned shortly that will require air travel. Upon talking to my doctor a about how nervous I was to fly, he advised to take 1mg Ativan for the flight.

Couple questions:

1- If I stopped I developed a tolerance, I take much less now. Will I lose the tolerance eventually?

2- is this the right way about going to try to stay calm on a flight, or is there another drug that is better.

Also, I know a lot of people are anti-benzo. I think that I have proven I am not addicted (and typically don't have an addictive personality), so please refrain from telling me I should try different things. I have tried a lot. Most recently, meditation (which is working quite well). I'm hopeful someday that I will learn enough to conquer this myself, but for now I have a life I don't want to miss, and if it requires a little numbness now and then - so be it.
