Hi I Have A Headache Really Runny Nose Like A Tap And Sore Thoart

I have a sore throat,runny nose,headache,and my chest hurts?

So today's Monday. On Saturday I woke up in the middle of the night with a sore, scratchy throat. I drank some water, which helped a bit, and went back to bed. Sunday morning I still had the throat problem, but it wasn't as bad as Saturday's.
Then yesterday(Sunday)I started coughing, really loud, painful coughs that shake my whole body. I got the throat ache again, which wouldn't really let me swallow, and my nose started dripping like a tap. My chest started to hurt.
I woke up this morning feeling even worse--cough, minor sore throat, chest hurts badly, runny nose, and bad headache. I don't have any cold/flu medicines and I can feel myself all stuffed up in my head. My body hurts and I stayed home from school, resting and drinking water. I don't feel much better and I only got on my laptop to ask this question.
Everyone in my family says it's a cold. My mother says she'll buy me some medicine, but everything hurts. If I breathe in too deeply the back of my mouth/throat will start to hurt, a lot. I probably have to go to school tomorrow. I'm only 13 and it hurts really bad and is uncomfortable :(
Do you know what this might be? Should I go to the doctor's? Or is it just a common cold?
Thanks x

Help! Severe headaches + nose blocked?

It seems my nose being blocked is somehow related to my headaches. Whenever my headache feels better, my nose breathes better. Whenever my nose starts getting blocked, my headache gets worse. I dont know if its the headache causing the nose to be blocked, or the blocked nose causing the headache.

Anyways, i have a very tight feeling on the back of my head (it was so painful that i had to be rushed to the ER FOUR times, all tests came out NORMAL: MRI, MRA, SPINAL TAP, 5 BLOOD TESTS, EKG, CHEST XRAY, CT SCAN, ETC). It used to pulsate alot, but it stopped now. I feel alot of pressure on the back of my head, top of my head, and behind my eyes (my eyes are droopy from the extreme pressure).

My nose isnt runny at all, its actually completely dry and i dont feel any congestion in my throat or anywhere, its simply blocked. No sneezing or coughing, and my eyes dont tear or get red.

.One doctor characterized it as a tension headache, the other said it was sinusitis.

.I've had a mild form of this headache+nose problem EVERYDAY for 8 months now, but recently i got a severe attack! This severe attack has been ongoing for a week and a half almost... it seems to be getting better but not satisfyingly enough.

I do spend around 6-12+ hours a day on the computer (barely using any now) and have been for the past 8 months daily.

Do you guys think its the headache causing the nose block or the nose block causing the headache!?

(PS ive tried neti pot, nasal sprays) They dont really work. They seem to clean everything out, but my nostrils stay blocked

Something homeopathic for stuffy nose and sore throat?

I have had a sore throat for about 3 days, and a stuffy nose, is there anything I can do to make it easier for me to breath a night? I can't breath throgh my mouth, it's annoying.

A water like clear fluid runs down my nose when I bend down. Even sometimes when I sit idle, it happens mostly from my right nose. My right eye also gets wet, sometimes it hurts. I feel a disturbance on the right side of my head. What should I do?

I am a neurosurgeon  and what you are describing could be a case of spontaneous CSF rhinorrhea. CSF means cerebrospinal fluid and it's the fluid which is giving nutrition and cushioning effect to your brain. And rhinorrhea means leaking from nose. This leaking usually is more on sneezing coughing or bending forwards....and there is a salty taste to it. This usually starts when there is some bony defect within the nose which let's the sterile CSF out through the nose. The feeling of dizziness and black outs can also be explained because if this as it can cause intracranial hypotension ( sorry for using medical terms). Intracranial hypotension occurs when the Cushioning effect of CSF is lost momentarily and the pressure the head decreases causing dizziness. You should get yourself evaluated by a neurosurgeon. As this leaking is not a normal thing and this increases the chance of infection spreading into the sterile csf and which has its own consequences ( details your doctor can provide).First he will ask you to collect that fluid in a sterile container and do some tests to make are that it's CSF and nothing else. And after that depending on the results, further imaging to find the cause will be done. This should not be taken lightly and visit your doctor as early as possible.Dont get scared or alarmed. All these are treatable conditions. As far as the question of memory impairment is concerned. There is no way this CSF leak can cause memory loss. There are no neurons lost ( it's absolutely absurd) and the memory region of the brain is in entirely different location. You can get your memory also evaluated by your neurosurgeon ( but I am pretty sure it's not needed). To repeat again....don't take this condition lightly. If you have1) Watery discharge coming thru nose with sneezing coughing bending forward etc2) If that fluid is salty to taste 3) If you are having some fever along with the leak4) If you have a history of injury to nose , head or were involved in some accident many years ago.If you have these symptoms.Go visit your doctor. it's essential.

My nose is crying, help?

If you aren't aware, I have a cold. After I wipe my nose with my tissue, it starts getting runny again like every 5 seconds. Is there any type of medicine I can take for a runny nose/cold?

My nose is crying = My nose is running

Thanks in advance!!

Does Mucinex work on a stuffy nose or just chest congestion?

mucinex is recommended for chest congestion and sinus problems and allergies too.yes it works on nose congestion to THIN out the secretions.the sinuses drain through an opening about the size of a ball point pen.no it won't drain like a tap.sometimes just because it thins secretions doesn't mean they are easier to remove.the secret is to drink lots of water with mucinex, for it to work properly.

Sick with fever- chills and sweating?

This is what i know.

The flu usually begins abruptly, with a fever between 102 and 106°F. (An adult typically has a lower fever than a child.) Other common symptoms include a flushed face, body aches, chills, headache, nausea, and lack of energy. Some people have dizziness or vomiting. The fever usually lasts for a day or two, but can last 5 days.

Somewhere between day 2 and day 4 of the illness, the "whole body" symptoms begin to subside, and respiratory symptoms begin to increase. The flu virus can settle anywhere in the respiratory tract, producing symptoms of a cold, croup, sore throat, bronchiolitis, ear infection, or pneumonia.

The most prominent of the respiratory symptoms is usually a dry, hacking cough. Most people also develop a sore throat and headache. Nasal discharge (runny nose) and sneezing are common. These symptoms (except the cough) usually disappear within 4-7 days. Sometimes, the fever returns. Cough and tiredness usually last for weeks after the rest of the illness is over.

Influenza A usually arrives in the late winter or early spring. Influenza B can appear at any time of the year.

The most common way to catch the flu is by breathing in droplets from coughs or sneezes. Less often, it is spread when you touch a surface such as a faucet handle or phone that has the virus on it, and then touch your own mouth, nose, or eyes.

Symptoms appear 1-7 days later (usually within 2-3 days). Because the flu spreads through the air and is very contagious, it often strikes a community all at once. This creates a cluster of school and work absences. Many students become sick within 2 or 3 weeks of the flu's arrival in a school.

Tens of millions of people in the United States get the flu each year. Most get better within a week or two, but thousands become sick enough to be hospitalized. About 36,000 people die each year from complications of the flu.

Could I have meningitis ? Please Help Quickly !?

Technically you could have.. the inflammation of the lining of the brain can be caused by a viral or bacterial infection. While ODDS are you do not have meningitis,.. if you feel you need medical attention then by all means.

I would suspect this is a viral infection.. perhaps influenza. Which will give you every symptom you have. Also the improvement in your symptoms is notable against meningitis.

If you have a severe headache,.. HIGH fever, oddly stiff neck.. then see a doctor. Even a cheaper walk in clinic would be ok.. they would likely dismiss it as a general viral infection as I am suspecting. Though you can mention why you are there..

Ah, I see you have an appointment at 2pm. Great.

When you see the doctor tell him of all of these symptoms here on this list.. and your vitals will be taken for evidence. Ask him of the possibility of meningitis.

I honestly do not think you have meningitis -- you would generally be nauseous and getting worse in this time frame. Further, as I said, the odds are extremely low -- plus the flu (influenza) easily can produce all of these symptoms.

Spinal taps don't feel good -- but the pain is the initial insertion,.. then you wait as fluid is collected,.. and it is removed. If you do not lay on your back immediately after you can prevent the post pressure gradient created pain/headache from spinal taps. Spinal taps sound worse than they are.

It sounds like you have Influenza, or Strept -- However, if you did have meningitis it would be a more self limiting viral variation,.. not the bacterial -- why? Because your symptoms are improving which would only occur with the viral infection (this quickly)

Don't worry -- your 99.999% fine.

Best of luck,
