Hi M Living In India And I Go For Swimming Regularly Since One Month N Its Outdoor

How to make time go faster when life guarding?

Drink water... Drink lots of water. If you are dehydrated time will feel like it is going much slower than it actually is. Don't take a radio on deck, it will only get ruined.

This will most likely sound VERY dumb: When I'm on shift and time seems like its going really slow I start sorting the patrons into "drowner" and "non-drowner". After I have sorted them all I decide which one is going to drown first, and start thinking about what I would do if they started drowning right then. Then I move on to the next one.

If I'm guarding lap swim I will critique people's strokes to myself.

I also sing songs to myself, try and count how many songs you can sing all the way through. From beginning to end. since each song is at least 2 minutes long, you just have to get through seven of them before time is up.

WARNING: Watch your area of responsibility at all times. Pay attention to the victims and no matter what you are doing to pass the time it should always allow you to scan your area. Whether this is looking around at the patrons or doing something that does not remove your attention.

Going to Phoenix, AZ is the weather bearable ?

You asked for advice. So here's some advice:

Stay in the AC whenever possible. Drink plenty of water. How much you ask? At least 24 ounces per hour. The dryness will assist in dehydrating you even if you are inside. If you have tasks to do outside consume at least 12 ounces of water every 15 minutes. Your body will let you know if you need more.

Last week I had to work outside from 7:30 am to 1:00pm and I drank over 100 ounces. I swear I sweated every drop of it out.

Wear loose fitting clothes preferably made of cotton material which breathes and will assist in keeping you cool. Wear a hat, sunglasses and the lightest apparel allowed by your internship if you go outside frequently. When you are not working sandals, shorts and tank tops are the norm.
