High School Supplies And Other Things That I Should Keep In My Backpack

Do people bring handbags and purses to high school or backpacks?

Unless you want to go to your locker in between all your classes to switch books (or carry them all around in your arms all day) I would recommend bringing a backpack so you can carry all the books you need with you comfortably. You can bring a purse too for your personal stuff like wallet, cell phone, make up, tampons, etc. and keep that in your backpack when you don't need it. When I was in high school everyone had a backpack for all their books and homework, and some girls had purses for their "girly" stuff. You aren't "supposed" to bring a purse, nor are you "supposed" to bring a backpack. Bring whatever is going to make it easiest for you to carry all your books around. Who cares if backpacks are "ugly", they make it easier to carry all your stuff around - and besides, you can find backpacks that have cute designs on them, you just have to actually look for them.

High School. Locker. Backpack. What?

Going into high school, never had a locker before.

What should I keep in my locker? (Besides the obvious supplies and binders and textbooks)

What should I keep in my backpack? Should I have a tote bag?
What should I keep in backpack/tote?

Any other advice would be most helpful.

What supplies do i need for high school?

What I've found makes for success in high school is keeping everything extremely organized -- and that what works for one person may not work for another.

I would not recommend keeping all your work from all your classes in the same binder, and just folders also aren't good ideas because they're hard to keep organized (you'll begin loosing assignments because they're lost in all the papers in your folder). Keep in mind that in high school you tend to accumulate a lot of papers.

What I've found to work for me is to have two binders for every academic class: a smaller one that stays with me at school and is used to keep any notes, tests, quizzes, and assignments that pertain to the unit you're working on in that class (separated by dividers into sections such as Notes, Assignments, etc.), and a larger one that remains in my closet at home and contains all my accumulated notes, tests, etc. from the whole year. I also carry a large spiral notebook with me to each class so that I never run out of lined paper. I also have a smaller notebook with graph paper for my science and math subjects. I've found that this system makes my backpack lighter and leaves more room for me to carry around other things such as textbooks, which always take up much more space than they really need to.

Probably the subjects you will want to do this for are lab science, biology, geometry, advance English, Health, and World Geography. P.E. is something of a no-brainer -- I doubt you'll have much paperwork for that (and if you do, just designate a section for it in whatever binder you're carrying around when you have PE). For driver's Ed. and Spanish you'll probably just need one binder for each, as these tend to not accumulate as much paperwork.

The supplies you'll need will probably be specified by your teacher. Beyond that, you'll want the basics, of course: pencils, lined paper, graph paper, blue/black pen, science calculator etc., and also probably a compass and protractor for geometry.

Good luck in high school! Freshman year is always the hardest at first, but I promise it becomes easier. :)

What supplies to bring on the first day of High school?

all you need is a pen/pencil, some paper, and a folder.
you really won't need a notebook, calculator, or even a backpack on the first day of high school.
you will probably not be starting any lessons in any of your classes on the first day. teachers might go over the rules, some basics, a class overview, and what supplies you will need.

What to have in your school backpack?

I know it's early to start talking about school agin but I like to get the shopping out of the way. So I'm going to be a freshman this year and was wondering what high school girls have in their school bag and where you got your school bag. Thanks.

What is the best school supply list for a high school girl? 10 POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER!?

BASICS:
- No. 2 pencils or mechanical pencils. No. 2 is needed for scantrons
- Extra Lead if you use mechanical pencils
- Pens. Black, red, and blue are must haves- multiple colors are optional
- Highlighters
- Erasers
- Sharpie
- White out
- Pencil Pouch
- Agenda book/planner

FOR CLASSES:
- I like to stick with a folder and a notebook for my easier classes (math, english, spanish) and go with a 1 inch binder with dividers and loose leaf paper for the advanced classes i'm taking (biology and history)
- Calculator for math (depends on what class you're taking, check with your school's website)
- Binder 3 hole punch because most teachers won't hole punch things
- Index cards
- Sticky notes and post it flags (awesome for note taking and for textbooks)
- Mini stapler

OTHER THINGS:
- If you're a girl I'd get a little cosmetic bag and fill it with necessities. {chapstick, hand lotion, perfume, pads/tampons, band aids, deodorant, advil, and extra hair elastics. If you wear contacts or glasses, bring those too}
- A wallet with money for lunch
- Keys to your house
- Cell phone and ipod if you have one
- A reading book/e-reader because sometimes you might have free time during school and have no homework to be done
- Cellphone charger if your school has outlets where you can charge your stuff

As for backpack, it's up to you. It depends if you use your locker or not. No one at my school uses their locker, and because of that I stuck with a tote for freshman year and plan to do the same for sophomore year. A small backpack like a jansport or an l.l. bean works well too. Don't get anything that's too bulky or too big or you'll just stand out as a freshman- because most upperclassmen use really small bags for school.

What supplies do I need for high school? (Both for educational and personal purposes)

EducationalNotebooksYou might need or might not need a lot of these so I’d wait and see if I need them for a class first. But a possible idea would be to buy them beforehand before the stores run out in the back-to-school rush and save them, if they aren’t needed, for subsequent years.I read this somewhere on Quora and I’ll certainly do this next year. Instead of binders (unless your teacher really, really wants binders and/or mandates binders only), use folders with the three prongs and side pockets. It’s much, much lighter.Pens & Pencils & HighlightersYour basics. I personally prefer pens as they look much nicer on paper and they are more vibrant then pencils. However you should still keep some pencils on you for subjects like math where you’re constantly erasing and fixing errors.Highlighters are a no-brainer.WhiteoutIf you’re going to use pens, get some whiteout. The whiteout tape more specifically. They don’t need to try before you can write on it like liquid whiteout and there usually isn’t an odor.Backpack (a good one)Do yourself a favor and invest in a good backpack or some kind of bag. You’ll be carrying a good number of textbooks, notebooks, folders, binders, etc and unless you like back pain, DO IT!PersonalGumDefinitely. This is a must. Plus you can share and make friends :)Wireless earphones (e.g. AirPods)Classes get really boring. Or unimportant. You know, the usual. That’s all I could think of (for now)!
