Work hard and your going to love volleyball in the mean time before ur tryout start running and doing squats just to be in shape for the conditioning it challenging but rewarding have fun and dont worry!

What to expect at high school girl volleyball tryouts.?

you should tryout. at tryouts they will usally ask you what postion you would want to play. they do alot of the basic skill drills like serving, passing off of a serve or downball, setting-if you want to become a setter- and hitting off a toss or set. they also do fitness stuff to see if you have a high endurence. they have you run and do alot of conditioning stuff like line jumps, jump ropes, sit ups, push ups, planks, and jumping. to get ready for tryouts you should do pushups and situps everyday. run a few times around your neighbor hood would also help. go to your local gym, garage or backyard, get a friend that has some volleyball skills and practice the basics for a few hours. even if you dont make it, tryout next year, find out if the gym has a volleyball program, or go to volleyball camps this summer to get better.

good luck!!!!! :)

What are high school volleyball tryout like?

As the others mentioned, tryouts vary depending on the coach. No matter who it is, though, they will find a way to evaluate you on your passing, setting, serving, hitting (spiking), blocking, and defense. They will also probably look at you in game-like situations to see how well you perform the skills when they aren't isolated.

Also, focus on bringing a positive attitude and hustle. Coaches really look for "coachability," that is, how well do you listen and try to do the things they tell you to do? If they think you can be taught, they will probably take you and try to teach you. If they think you won't listen to them, they won't bother bringing you on the team.

Work hard, have fun, and smile a lot! We coaches would usually rather take a player with some skill and a great attitude than good skills and a bad attitude.

What are high school volleyball tryouts like?

When you get there, expect a talk from the coach/es about how the try-outs are going to go and what the season will be like. You then do warm-ups and basic drills. To prepare, work on your OVER hand serve, getting to the ball as fast as you can, the forearm pass, setting, and hitting and your approach. Be loud!!! Always call for the ball and be encouraging to other people. Shag balls and act like you WANT to be there. ALWAYS run NEVER walk. Coaches look for positive attitudes and players with heart and hustle. Wear bright colors to stand out from your peers. Usually, try-outs are harder than practice. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED. At my school, this is what they do to weed out those who can't commit and don't have the heart for it. Also, at try-outs you'll probably scrimmage and what not.

What should I expect from Freshman High School volleyball tryouts?

I'm a freshman too and I made my schools JV team! I'll basically walk you through my tryouts. 1st we got in a big circle and stretched. The whole tryout was filled with different drills targeting different skills needed for volleyball. Its like one big physical test.
You'll be tested on:
-serving (MUST HAVE YOUR OVERHAND!)
-blocking
- defensive skills
-passing when passing always pass to the setter (when recieving)
-setting
-serve recieve
-attitude
-athletic ability

At my tryouts we just did a whole bunch of drills like team pepper. (passing to each other as a "team" and passing on target, serving and then laying down on the other side, setting to each other 20 times. You said that you already had tryouts so I'm a bit confused. Are you trying out alone? if you are expect it to maybe be a little awkward at first. If you mess up just make a note to get it next time. don't get all pissed and do a pouty face.
I think you should still try out. I sarted volleyball in middle school and playing on a team is so much different then just playing around with your friends. Its so much fun because volleyball is such a team sport and its great for meeting friends. I think you should deff try out now vs trying out your sophomore year. teams look for good athletic freshman to train for jv and varsity teams. if you enjoy playing then play!
Note** be ready to be conditioned a lot! some coaches time a mile for their players others measure verticals, make you holdd planks, wall sits, lunges, frog jumps, squats, pushups, crunches, mountain climbers and burpees. Be confident in yourself! Go out there and give it your all!

I missed my high school's volleyball tryouts, I'm very upset, but they start so early in the summer and I had no idea. How can I get over this?

Find other things to spend your time on. If you wanted to go for High School Volleyball, you must love sports, or at least volleyball. Try to find a recreational team, or search the internet for any organizations which do pickup games in your area. This might be less common with volleyball, but if you like other sports, especially soccer, you are bound to find rec leagues and pickup games. If you can’t find any of these events, or even if you can, just stop focusing on the tryouts. Do anything productive to get your mind off of it, and find something fun to take your mind off school when it arrives.

How do you play volleyball in high school?

Typically High School teams have tryouts where the coaches evaluate the skills and potential of the students that want to play for the team.In some cases schools have “no cut” policies where all students that try out are accepted on the team. That does not guarantee playing time in games. Other schools simply don’t have enough students trying out to cut anyone. Some schools have highly competitive tryouts where the majority of those trying out are cut. In those cases previous playing experience on grade school teams or club teams is pretty much mandatory if you want to make the High School team.

When are high school volleyball tryouts normally held?

At my school, tryouts are in the summer before school even starts. Practices also. I think volleyball season is 'til like October no so sure. It's extremely hard getting on Varsity team when in freshman, but like I don't know that's just my school. In my school when your on varsity you stay on varsity or else you don't have a chance so... But varsity is a challenge I'm not going to lie. Good Luck!!!
