you can build fences from stones or wood. if its a fence for your chickens, use stones because when the dog comes, it will scare all your chickens away if they're surrounded by a wooden fence. if its for cows or sheep, a wooden fence would do fine, but the wood gets broken during storms. so a stone fence would be the most durable. you make a stone fence with the small rocks on your farm. (simply pick up by pressing A and place where you like) if you smashed them all, you can build a wooden fence with the lumber you've chopped. its in the lumber shed next to your horse stable. you just pick it up (click A on the shed) and put it on the field of your farm (dirt only). if they get broken, you can't jump over them, but you can smash them with your hammer and put a new one there. there is also one more alternative that is durable during storms, but again, will not work if the dog comes after your chickens. you can use branches. the branches can be found near the woodcutter's house and by mother's hill. they'll be there everyday so you can just take them from there. a branch fence will be good for your cows and sheep. by the way, when i was talking about the dog, i don't mean YOUR dog. there is ANOTHER dog that looks kinda scary, a tough looking pit-bullish dog that will come by your farm every once in a while (if you leave your chickens out) and bark at your chickens. if they're enclosed by a stone fence, they won't get scared. but if they're enclosed by a wooden fence, they'll get scared and run away.

-Have you gotten the Poor Note? To get the Poor Note you need have to less than 1,000G or maybe even less than 100G for a day or two. You don't want to start making a lot of money until you get that. -Get a cow. Cows are better than Sheep when you are just starting out. -Until you can upgrade your Axe to chop stumps and trees you are stuck with the little sticks you find around town. There is nothing you can do to make more appear so try to gain a lot of experience with your axe so you can get a better one. -Hit the plowed ground with your hammer. That should flatten it back to normal. -If you haven't already, start befriending the Dolphin. Go to the beach and find the dock. If you go out on the dock you will see a dolphin. Wave to it and give it a fish. Once you earn one heart with it you can ride the dolphin to a little island. That island is a good fishing spot. You can catch some expense fish there, especially during summer if I remember right. -Be sure to plant your crops in fertile soil. The darker the soil the more fertile it is. Crops sell for more money if they are planted in good soil. -If your soil is dull go to the mine and use your hammer to smash rocks on the first few floors. What you want is Limestone. Once you sell 10 of that you'll be able to buy fertilizer to improve your soil. -You can gain hearts with your chickens by feeding them weeds. I believe after you feed them ten or 20 weeds you will gain a heart. You can feed them as many weeds as you want per day then once you have a high amount of hearts your chickens will have a higher chance of giving you Special Eggs.
