Hodgeson Gerrard Rooney .is This

What is the most interesting thing we learned about England's World Cup team in their match against Italy?

National teams like to emulate a successful club from the most recent season that boasts a significant number of national team squad players. This is usually the case for clubs like Barcelona (Spain), Bayern Munich (Germany), PSG (France), and Liverpool (England). To that end, the most interesting thing we learned about England's World Cup team is that they will be adopting an attacking mindset in parallel with Liverpool's free-flowing, attacking style. Liverpool players Sturridge, Sterling, Henderson, Gerrard, and Johnson comprise 5 of the 11 starting XI. I was surprised to see Welbeck starting since he performed woefully during the season with Manchester United. Welbeck was substituted from the match which is a strong signal he will be dropped. He'll most likely be replaced by Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere or Everton midfielder Ross Barkley in the match against Uruguay. Rooney is a shoo-in despite his performance against the Italians. I suspect England manager Roy Hodgson will put him in a supporting striker role instead of on the wing, much like how Suarez plays in tandem with Sturridge at Liverpool. Rooney also plays in that role at Manchester United, in support of Robin van Persie so he should be comfortable in that role supporting Sturridge.Despite losing to Italy, I'm bullish on England's chances. The match with Italy was a toss-up, and Italy was fortunate to come away with a win. England should walk away with a lot of confidence from their performance, despite players like Rooney being mediocre through the match.

Can England win the soccer Euros in 2016?

They can win it in theory but it is hard to see that happen in practice. The Premiership set-up is not conducive to producing a team of top English players primed for international football. There are a number of negatives: over-hyped complacent players, a lack of game time in The Champions League for top English players (in the big four or five European club sides). In Hodgson, there's a manager who is unlikely to be able to galvanise the various selfish kingdoms in his side to a common cause - and the press don't help that either. As hard as it is to swallow for Englishmen, they're players don't care the way Germans and Spaniards and Italians do when they pull on the three lions. That all needn't necessarily matter but in games of small margin control, composure and desire make all the difference - especially so if these indomitable qualities are melded onto an idea, an identity, a way of playing the game that is unique to the team in question and an expression of their qualities as individuals and a collective. England have two ways of playing: 4-4-2 football from out of the Ark or a modern compromise pilfered from a pick and mix of fashionable, poorly understood coaching theories. And then there's this below (it pretty much sums it up):Vicente del Bosque spot on. England have no brand, no style, no plan

Analysis for Group D: Matchday 1?

France 2-0 England: In my original prediction, I said this would be a draw, which is a likely result since they're both great teams. However, England missing Barry, Lampard, Cahill, not calling Ferdinand & Crouch, and missing Rooney for the first two group games, I just can't see them taking a point vs a talented young upbeat French side that hasn't lost in 20 matches. Both teams are still pretty equal in defence and midfield, but French have better attackers & chemistry, plus Blanc has a huge edge over Hodgson. There's no way they can pull off such a failure like they did in World Cup 2010, its a different team and a different mentality. France will go up 2-0 before the half, with goals from Adil Rami (off a corner) & Benzema, then that will be the game and England will have to focus on Sweden and Ukraine (teams they can truly beat).

Ukraine 1-0 Sweden: Poland didn't have such a good opening game as the hosts, but I think it will be a little different for Ukraine. Both teams have some new faces that didn't participate in the last big tournament for each team. However, Sweden has a slight advantage in almost all positions on the pitch, plus better health since many Ukraine players are recovering from a stomach virus from earlier this week. I think, however, the home crowd will be stronger for Ukraine, since it will be their first Euro and Sweden's last Euro didn't end well. I think if Ukraine's defence (without Chygrynskiy) shut down Ibrahimovic (like Germany kinda did with Cristiano), then it will be easier for them to win the match. Shevchenko to score late in the first half.

agree or disagree?

What were England's chances in the World Cup, as of May/June 2014?

This is easily the best English squad of the past decade. Most of the attacking players were phenomenal in the league so they will still go into the world cup with high expectations of reaching the quarters at least. Their group may not be the easiest but their key obstacles, Uruguay and Italy, do not have the balance they have. Comparing the pool of strikers and wingers for the English players have outperformed their Italian counterparts this season, and the age factor doesn't help their case either. Defense wise, goalkeeping problem has virtually been solved and a midfield starting Gerrard, Lallana/Barkley and Henderson, would be difficult for any team to comfortably get a hold off.Uruguay's defense is always suspect but I write them off because their midfield will not match up to that of England. What about Suarez and Cavani? The world cup favors the efficient over the prolific so as much as it hurts to choose, I would favor Sturridge to be more lethal done Suarez in Brazil.  Although Rooney would retain a striking role, his position as a number 10  this season will be of huge benefit to an English team who is also firing flank tanks of sterling and lallana. It would be extremely difficult to shut down such a talent studded attack.  Many of us are sceptical about Roy Hodgson's tactics, (if he genuinely has any) but this trip to Brazil is in the hands of the players to lose in my opinion. I say this because England has not looked like a team driven by ingenious tactics for the past two world cups and I expect the same trend knowing the current gaffer (liverpool fan).

Why does the England team play such bad football?

Let's go through all the major positions England have been doing well in, and where they lag. (It tells a story)FORWARDSOne of England's greatest strengths is that they have a world class striker in Harry Kane. They also have Rashford who is a decent player and Vardy, who is adept on the counter.WINGERSThe wings are an important attacking position. In this case, only Sterling can lay claim to even being remotely world class. He will have a crucial role to play in the 2018 World Cup.Sterling: Key Player in World CupMIDFIELDThis is where England lacks creativity. Dele Alli is a good, stylish player, and I'm impressed with the likes of Delph and Dier, but they do not have a star player who can create chances seemingly out of nowhere.DEFENSEIn the 3–4–1–2 formation under Southgate, the defenders play a key role in stopping opposition attacks and bringing the ball forward. Manchester City pair Walker and Stones offer great solidity, with Kyle also having the ability to attack. Danny Rose has done well in the EPL. Also, Trent Alexander Arnold is an exciting prospect.Walker and Stones have combined well in MCIGOALKEEPERSAnother glaring weakness. If your #1 plays for Everton, a team that's never won the Premier League, there's something wrong. Pickford is decent, but he isn't any De Gea or Allison. Hart has completely lost form, evidenced by his loan spells to Torino and West Ham.Now, the major conclusion from the above is that the England squad is not talented enough in the goalkeeping and midfield departments. However, there is a slightly less obvious reason as well. The English Premier League's clubs have a much higher earning than most clubs from other countries. So they are able to purchase players from other countries in weakened departments. There isn't as much need to develop English players in the Premier League, which has led to a dip in quality. There you go! Any edits welcome

Why is England such a disaster in major tournaments?

1. Overconfidence:"We're the mighty English" I am not saying everyone feels this way but certainly some people in the English FA do. Roy Hodson did too. Why would you pick Roy when you can get better managerial talents. They could've got Redknapp or Pardew. Yeah, some might notagree with me but those are better mamagers than Roy. Hell with that. What's wrong in the appointment of a foriegn manager?2. Name before talent:Roy did not select Danny Drinkwater but selected Jack Wilshere. What did Jack really do? Nothing. And this isn't one tournament. Thiery henry once said to Garry Neville and Jamie Caragher that you English had the best midfield atleast on paper. Yes, that midfield was Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard. Fabio Capello was the manager at that time, but what did he do? He didn't do sh*t (sh*te). HE WASTED SCHOLES. Anyone with basic football knowledge knows, Paul scholes was way better than Gerrard and Lampard. But nope. Again, he went for Stevi G. I don't have anything against him. Great player and legend but I think Scholes was a different class. He was never the one for media and stuff and I have no idea why capello wasted is abilities by not playing him in central mid.3. Lack of confidence and urgency:Hardly any English player showed the urgency. Joe hart should've saved the second goal vs Iceland but he did not. He is a good keeper, but inconsistent. Maybe he lacked confidence. As a lot of people have mentioned defenders sit too deep. Well guess what, Roy was sitting there too. On the bench. Relaxed. 4.Experiments:To begin with, Roy used the 4-4-2 really often but during the tournament he used a 4 3 3. Why? Cause Woy Whodson. Then can someone explain to me why was Harry Kane, a fine poacher with an eye for goal, was taking corners? I mean he has he ever taken corners or free kicks for Spurs? Really that was your analysis? There are a lot of points but these are enough to explain their failure. Also, we should see Iceland was a great team with way way way greater motivation. But with a quality squad like that England should've got to quarters atleast.  And might have been too focused on Euro 2016 but this happens everytime.

What are the speciality of England football team?

Less STAR Studded! Less Complacent! They are not blessed with immense talent, they will have to RUN ALL DAY!Overall many PL loyals will support England including myself. Somehow the abundance of Youth and fearlessness does excite me.. . .1.SOUTHGATE is thier gate to success.Southgate has been CONSISTENT in choosing YOUTH and sticking to a system, MOVE the ball FAST, players MOVE fast.Less flashy, risky, if it works it works.. . .2.Weapon: A CANE,Kane surrounded by pacey dribblers is a good COMBINATION. Unlike club football, David Villa, Miroslav Klose, Thomas Muller, all have had great success, Kane fits that role.. . .3. Sterling reputation:Pace/ Dribbler, that is all football is about. He may not be as quirky as Neymar, as rated as Messi, but he still gives defenders nightmare. Why pace works?Less time (seconds) for defenders to REACT, more errors possible….“in a GAME of INCHES and SPLIT-SECONDS, aything is possible”. . .4.Walker:Despite unfortunate mistake last match, WALKER is a TOP FULL BACK! TOP TALENT!For England to proceed , they are higlhly reliant on stable defence, and the bob to box midfielders supporting the Defence.. . .5.HendersonEngland are highly reliant on HENDERSON for OUTRUNNING the opposition.England don’t have the technical acumen to play stylish football. They have to work physically and TIRE the oppossition.. . .6.Fear factorLingard’s presence of mind seems to be the most inspiring facet of this 2018 campaign so far.. . .7. CheekyWhat’s special about Cheeky? It is rare for someone 6′3″ to be so MOBILE and technically resemble swift dribblers. He is so unlike FELLAINI. He could deceive opponents henceforth.. . .8.Unity:Lack of obvious stardom or glamourous personalities, always helps in TEAM- Spirit, the team that stays together plays together.. . .9. Expectations much lessEngland recent debacles in the pastboil down to the WEIGHT of expectations, and the presence of stars ROONEY/GERRARD/LAMPARD/RIO…………This time around, there is less of that WEIGHT.Youngsters have less to lose. They can get away with mistakes.
