Why do native americans live on reservations?

I was born and raise on my reservation which was established in 1872 in Washington State. Only 3 tribes out of 12 tribes did had to relocate or placed here. The reservation use to be larger it bordered to the Canadian and US border it was taken away due to finding gold on the North half of reservation, it was taken away without compromising with the tribes. The north half was never given back after finding out there wasn't that much gold.

Oklahoma was once called Indian Territory which was "no mans land" it was to place all Native Americans there most were the Eastern tribes and mid west tribes. To this day Oklahoma has the most Natives in the U.S.

European settlers and Indian land owners did have agreements for leasing but mysteriously the Indian owner vanished or got killed. It was getting common. There were treaties between the government but guess who broke them? So too many treaties broken, Natives trying their best to work with government, they lost respect and the honesty of the government. Some treaties were made but there would be no understanding of English language but were to sign it anyways.

It was about land because the settlers coming in on land that was already claimed by tribes.

Indian reservations were made to put Natives out of sight and mind and to make it easier for settlers to claim land for homes.

I hope this helps.

What kind of working conditions did children face in the factories during the early industrial revolution?

1. hot, sweaty, long hours, little pay, and no education. children were worked from young ages.
2. factory owners allowed this because it was cheap, simple as that.
3. well conditions in the u.s. have improved. but companies still ship jobs overseas where the same conditions are still going on. there is little pay, bad conditions and young children working. outsourcing is the new age of child labor. basically it's the companies saying "okay kids can't work in this country, so we will send it to that one where we can"

I have a question about Indians/Native Americans?

First of all I'm not a racist. I have many friends of different heritage.

In the place where I live there are many Indians and most of them do not work. I am assuming they get a government check because of their status. But they are for the most part living in poverty too.
Does anyone know why they would choose to live in poverty and not try to better their situation?
Thanks, I'm just trying to understand their situation better and why they would choose poverty.

Why do you think schools in America are under funded?

The problem is funding. When money is dedicated to the education sector it rarely reaches the places it is needed most. Teachers are under paid and under appreciated. Many schools are forced to spend money on feeding low income children breakfast and lunch rather than using the $ for school supplies. It's easy to blame a lack of money for the problems facing our school systems. But there are many social factors that affect the policies that drive the school system forward. Bureaucracy prevents our tax dollars from reaching the places they need to go.
