How Can I Deposit My Check

Can I deposit a check that...?

If it is a check you purchased from your bank you can redeposit it into your account. Write on the back "Not used for intended purposes" Then sign it. Then you should be able to redeposit the check. If it is a check drawn off a different bank then they may not accept it and you might want to get in touch with the bank your purchased it from.

How can I deposit a check I get from work? If the bank I use isn't where I live?

Mark the check on the back "For Deposit Only", Name of Your Distant Bank, Print Your Name, Print Your Checking Account Number, and then SIGN.

Enclose check in small envelope marked "Deposit to Checking Please"

Enclose small envelope in Standard USPS Stamped Envelope with First Class Postage, addressed ACCURATELY to Your Distant Bank. Be sure to include your return address in proper place.

DO NOT write anything else on the Mail Envelope. Do not write "Deposit to Checking or Attention Mail Teller" on the mail envelope.

If your check got lost in the mail -- small chance in USA -- the employer could easily replace it.

So if your deposit does not show up on Bank's Internet Website or by phone inquiry of balance by 10 days later, then you ask employer to issue a new check and to cancel the old one.

BETTER:

Give one of YOUR Bank Account CHECKs with your name on it, marked VOID to your EMPLOYER PAYROLL DEPARTMENT and REQUEST ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER for ALL your future paychecks DIRECTly DEPOSITed TO YOUR BANK.

That last will eliminate all chances of lost mail.

I just moved from one state to another myself and I have used BOTH of these methods successfully.

One for checks I receive in the mail, and the EFT for my Social Security.

Third Party is allowed to deposit a cheque into the account of  the payee (beneficiary)of the cheque. provided the account number of the payee is correctly written on the paying-in -slip. Though it not mandatory, the account number and phone number needs to be written on the back of the cheque. As the core banking facility is available in most of the banks, cheques can be deposited in any branch of the bank, the customers is holding his account. Providing the phone number will be enable the Bank to contact the depositor in case of need. In most Banks the cheques have to be deposited in the cheque drop box. In case the name and the account number of the payee does not match , then the cheque will not be processed.

Can a wife deposit her husbands check?

hand it to the teller and see what they do. Normally you can deposit anyone's check into their account but you just can't sign their signature. Now since your account is a joint account the teller "may" ask you to sign but I seriously doubt it.

the "for deposit only" thing is so that someone else (like a stranger) won't cash it and that's used mostly if you're sending the check thru the mail. If your husband didn't write that on there you don't have to either.

Can I deposit a check, made out to my daughter, into my account without her signature?

I am assume that your daughter has willfully given you her check to negotiate for her. If not, then you are steal funds that belong to her.

How much is the check and how old is your daughter? If you have a minors account for your daughter where you are the authorized agent to transact on it, then you can easily deposit the check into that account without her signature. If not then it is the discretion of the bank if it is to negotiate a third party check. The decision to take the check or not could be based on your relationship with the bank or your balance. They might take it if it is a small amount, but have you endorse the check for your daughter. They might hold the funds against your account. If it is large amount, the changes are no.

If the check is in your name with proper MICR and routing number and if you have written the check without any mistakes, definitely you can cash your check from any bank.Suggesting to use some online check writing software to write and print checks without any errors which will make your transactions speedy and more professional.

Unfortunately, many foreign banks probably have similar rules that we have here in the U.S. when it comes to foreign checks. The issue is the collections fee. When a foreign check gets deposited, it needs to be sent for collections, which can take time. I assume the same is true for foreign nation banks collecting from the U.S. The customer is then hit with that fee, as well as whatever the exchange rate actually is at that time, which can change constantly. The best thing I can tell you is to try and set it up so that the person who is paying you does so in one large check, rather than a bunch of tiny ones. One thing you might be able to also do is, see if you can start an American bank account online and then send the money to be deposited to that account. That might be a way to avoid the bulk of the collection fees.

Yes. TL;DRThis is so the answer isn't too short. That is the benefit of banking with a bank that has multiple branches. You can do business with any branch any where. Yes, you might do most of your banking at your “home” branch where you opened your account, but any branch can process your transactions. It can be near your work or across town. If your bank is large enough to have branches in another state, you can do your banking there.
