How Can I Force Myself To Wear My Hair Down

I NEVER wear my hair down! Help?

I'm 15, almost 16. I have an ovalish face and straight hair about 2-3 inches below my shoulders with layers and side bangs. I wear my hair up in a ponytail literally 24/7. I never wear it down because I feel so uncomfortable but I do look better when it's down! How can I force myself to wear it down? And half up half down isn't what I'm looking for, even if its for a slow start. I just want to be able to wear it completely down with nothing in it. Anybody have any ideas on how I can get myself to do this? Or anything that will make me want to wear it down? Should I get a haircut? I'd be open for that I guess...though it didn't fit in a ponytail I'd feel so insecure..but then again it'd get me out of my comfort zone and I'd be forced to wear it down. I don't know!!! Help please??

I'm afraid to wear my hair down :/ help?

I'm 15, almost 16 years old. I have an ovalish face and straight hair about 2-3 inches below my shoulders with layers and side bangs. I NEVER wear my hair down. Literally it's up in a ponytail 24/7, even while I'm sleeping. I don't even wear it down just in front of family and friends because I feel so uncomfortable. The thing is though, I really want to be able to wear my hair down because I look so much better that way, but I feel so insecure and uncomfortable! And plus, if I were to wear it down I absolutely HATE all the attention I get with people saying "woah! You're wearing your hair down!!" Like I just don't like it when people say stuff like that. I dunno what to do!!! How can I force myself to wear it down? Half up half down doesn't get me used to it either :/ should I get a haircut that won't allow me to wear a ponytail?? Idk if I'd be able to even say that to the hairdresser though. What should I do?? Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm afraid and insecure to wear my hair down. Help?

You may have answered a question I just recently posted, but this one has more details.

How can a feel comfortable wearing my hair down? I always tie it up, and I feel insecure when I wear it down because it makes me look "ugly".

Why would you grow your hair long but never want to wear it down? Most long hair takes maintenance to look nice. Washing, conditioning, styling. It can be time consuming and expensive. Women only invest that time and money because they like the result. If you like having your hair up perhaps you should consider cutting it. There is no reason you can't look pretty with short hair. Short hair can look amazing, short hair can be feminine, short hair can be cool, short hair can be fun.Find a cut or style you like and go for it. The worst thing that could happen is you don't like it but hair grows back

How can I learn to leave my hair down?

Hi. It's a little difficult for me to give you the best suggestions possible without seeing your hair. You said you feel that it's frizzy, and you have wispy hair around your face, so I'm going to assume it's thick and wavy or curly? I urge you to start wearing it down as much as you can. That way, you won't feel self conscious by the time school starts, as your friends will  most likely notice, especially if it's true that you never wear it down. The goal is not just to feel less uncomfortable, but for you to really like your hair, and enjoy all  the attention, instead of feeling embarassed! I suggest you  start looking for hairstyles  in magazines. Online, search for hairstyles with your similar hair type, as that will ensure you choose something that will be realistic for you to style yourself at home. (Ex. "styles for thick, wavy hair," etc.) Save any pictures of styles you like, make an appointment with a professional hairstylist, and bring the pictures with you. I strongly encourage a good haircut. You can still keep it long, but it will give your hair some shape,  and the stylist can also give you advice on fixing it at home it. If that isn't an option, make sure you're not overwashing it, (shampooing everyday, or every other day) as this contributes to dryness and frizz. At first your hair might feel oily, but it will adjust. I only wash mine 1-2 times a week! Invest in a hydrating conditioner, and some "de-frizz" serum. Almost every haircare line has one. Put it on your hair after the shower, when it's wet, and comb it rhough. Try not to touch your hair until it's almost dry. Touching it too much as it's drying also creates frizz. If you like, once it's dry, you can add a little more serum on to the frisky parts, but use sparingly; or buy a good straightening iron or large curling iron, and practice smoothing it out in sections. By the time you go start college, you will be a pro, and everyone you meet will only know you as someone with beautiful flowing hair!

I've never worn my hair down to school before?

In the summer I moved from a small Russian village to Minnesota, USA and I attend a small Christian school. All this year I have never let my hair down, it is always in a neat bun, and it is very long. Nobody at school has seen it before. Today I am considering letting it down. It looks nice today... But I am very shy... People will say stuff, and I don't want them too! Should I?

Can you wear your hair in a ponytail in Air Force bootcamp?

It has to be off of the collar they dont care how just off the collar.

My mom force me to cut my hair the way she want it hellpp?

I think you should make a copy of the picture and this question..show it to someone you both respect and ask them to talk to your Mother for you. There isn't any thing wrong with the hairstyle you like..it's age appropriate and trendy. How does your Father feel about this?
Another thing you could do is ask your hairstylist to talk to her and tell her that it would look very nice on you..If you don't fight with your Mother and put her on the defensive you will find that she just needs a bit of a push to see things your way....so sit down with her and tell her how much it means to you to be able to wear your hair the way you like it...Good Luck To You!!!
