How to got from Lipa Batangas to Palawan?
I am planning to visit Lipa Batangas (Philippines) and from there I would like to visit the beaches in Palawan. How do I do that? I want to commute the whole time, meaning Jeepney and tricycle. I am a native there but would rather ask here. Where is the Pier in Lipa batangas and what do i do? Is it safe this time march 2011? What beach resort or place would you recommend?

I keep a house in Tagaytay and I go to Batangas a lot. Taken all the routes and this is the fastest: From Picnic Grove take the Ligaya Drive going down to Talisay Ligaya Drive is so near Picnic Grove, you won't even get to the intersection/traffic light going to Sta Rosa. Ligaya Drive is a concrete 2-WAY road that ends in Talisay, Batangas. Turn left at the end of the road. Drive onwards to Tanauan. You won't get to the town proper and you will see the STAR TOLLWAY sign. Take the tollway and you will be in Lipa in about 15 minutes. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF TAKING THE ZIGZAG ROAD FROM THE TAGAYTAY ROTUNDA. THIS IS A LONGER ROUTE AND PORTIONS ARE BAD, WITH LONG STRETCHES PAVED ONLY WITH THIN ASPHALT.

I am not sure what detail you want, but I will beef-up my previous answer: 1. Ligaya Drive is on your left when driving from Picnic Grove towards the direction of the Sta Rosa intersection, but like I said you won't even get to that intersection and you will find it. In fact, it is the ONLY road you will find to your left, other than private roads leading to residences. 2. The travel going down Ligaya drive is in itself a treat. It is scenic, and the road is winding, with a view of the Taal Volcano and the lake for most of the trip. At some point in that drive going down, there is an intersection (where there are ALWAYS men who show "Boat Ride" signs, hoping that the traveler will engage them as guides on a trip to the Volcano Island). At this point, turn left. The view becomes even more scenic as you reach the view point of a real estate development called Laeuna de Taal. You may want to stop there for the magnificent view. As you drive down, you will find two more, but separate, sections of Laeuna de Taal. These are different phases of the subdivision. In fact, the very last is at the foot of this hill, right there in Talisay. It is at this "dead end" where you turn left going to Talisay town proper and onwards to Tanauan and the STAR TOLLWAY entrance. Oh, there are also men soliciting for "Boat Ride" passengers at this dead-end. 3. SM LIpa is right at the heart of the city, and is impossible to miss.
How can I go to Tagaytay from Batangas City Pier?
Take star toll direction north, exit sambat, left to talisay, follow signage, up to tagaytay, exit left, check in at km88, say atty billy for the discount. Stay there, walk around, nice church walking distance. Take jeep to olivares, you can walk west, 1km away is lourdes church, look for parish priest, take confession, walk tje back route, snack at Pamana resto. Relax.
Easiest/fastest route from Tagaytay to Lipa City (Batangas)?
From Tagaytay you take the route to Talisay going down then from Talisay drive directly to Calabarzon Star Tollway Entry point then exit to Tambo Lipa City. edit: there's a jeepney from the main road in Tagaytay that goes down in Talisay, I just forgot the street but you can ask it as to where are those jeepneys Tagaytay-Talisay Vice-Versa. Ride the jeepney and it will take you to Talisay Downtown then there are passenger Jeepneys bound to Tanaun City. Ride one and from Tanauan City in the National Road you can ride another Jeepney Lipa-Tanauan route or Buses going to Lipa and Batangas. You will know you are already in LIpa when you see SM-Lipa City then Lipa Bus Station and then Robinsons Place Lipa in that order. That's the most practical commuting route. Hope this helps.

ride a jeepney going to crossing calamba, you will find a jeepney terminal behind the market/tiangge. Ride the jeepney to Balibago, Sta. Rosa. Alight at Waltermart; there will be tricycles there that will take you to Enchanted Kingdom.
