i am 17 male and i will be 18 this september.. i really want to be little bit taller. i am around 5ft8, and my younger brother is taller than me. so i feel extremely insecure,worried and depressed. and i have not grow any inch since i turned age 15 or 16.. my dad is 5ft9, and my mom is 5ft3 or 5ft4. i really want to be at least 5ft9 1/2 or 5ft 10.. is it possible? i try to eat lots of healthy foods and vitamins. i also tried running and jump rope. and avoiding lifting heavy weights. can i grow at least 1 or 2 more inch? is it possible? how come i never gain any inch every time i measure my height? i am really worried. i know growth hormone and surgery can help but i don't want to do it.. and i also used 300 dollars on height enhancer and didn't work.. what should i do? am i still going to be grow taller bit? or not?

I'm 28 and I grew 6cm in 9 months this year. Nine months ago i joined a gym just to increase my body mass, i didn't gain much as i'm a hardgainer but i grew taller and i look better. How can i grow taller if i'm vegan?

Your mother is lying to you in hopes of you changing your mind.

I can tell you that a proper vegan diet will not affect any aspects of your development. No doctor told her that it's not healthy to be vegan- she's lying.

A doctor cannot state what is right or wrong without first knowing and understanding your diet and the effects it is having on you. They would have to know your blood type, because some manage better without meat. They'd have to do blood tests to check your Iron levels, etc.
There is no way for a doctor to state that your diet is negatively affecting you without "research" to back it up.

Tell your mom to take you to see a nutritionist, not your regular doctor, because frankly that's not their specialty and it's not what they know most about. A nutritionist will teach you what foods are the best for you to eat to stay healthy, and they can give you a meal plan, etc.
That may also calm your mother into feeling like you're getting the proper vitamins and nutrients you need. Nutritionists are more knowledgeable and better understand the benefits of a vegan or vegetarian diet.

And by the way, I have never in my life eaten meat, and since I was 4 years old I've been entirely vegan, and I'm 5'10.5". Clearly not taking in animal [by]products did not stunt my growth in the least. I actually turned vegan since I didn't eat meat as I was already a vegetarian, I despised eggs, and I was also lactose intolerant. (Did you know that almost everyone is at least slightly allergic to milk? To those who are, it tends to cause acne.)

Tell your mom that soy/almond/rice/hemp milk alternatives can easily provide you with the calcium you need daily.

To answer your question in short, if you are a healthy you don't have to do anything to grow. You will naturally grow to the height you're destined to be. Your mom obviously found something that she thinks will make you cave, since she's probably aware that you'd like to grow, and she's merely trying to scare you into eating milk products. (Remember, in her mind, she's doing what's "best" for you. She isn't trying to hurt you, she's just probably not very knowledgeable on the subject, like most other Omnivores. The majority of people in society simply do not understand the benefits of living as a Vegan.)

First of all thank you for asking a question about me. This will be my first answer in quora about myself.Okay, so first of all I wana tell u that genetic is always a first priority but handwork always show it's results. In my case, my family parents are of medium height around 5ft to 5′5ft, and others like my uncles and other relatives are 3inch more in height.Now, I had joined gym after completing my 10th with few of my friends. What happened was, we got a very good trainer who told us not to use heavy weights and do as much free hands excersices and light weight lifting as much as u can(if u wana know my suggested exercises, then please look at my previous answers). I was a very obedient student from my childhood, so I just did whatever my trainer told me to do. But my friends got influenced by their co-partners and started lifting heavy weights. They used to skipped the free hand excersices, started taking supplements and steroids,and used to hide from the trainer. We used to have a specific time for excersies like 1hr in a day and 4–5days in a week. But they used to spend 2hrs in the gym and used to come everyday.When we passed out our 12th I left the gym with height around 5′9 and a good body physic. And my friends, they didn't got their height more than 5ft and moreover they back pain,ankel pain, shoulder ache, one of my friend had a very bad accident while lifting weights now he can't even lift his hand.One thing I want to tell u and others who will read this.
