Can I register my dog with AKC?
*IF* both parents were registered AKC, the owner of the dam certainly could have registered the litter. I believe it is necessary for him to registered the litter, in order to generate the form on which you would have registered your own dog. It may not be too late, but he may not cooperate either, as it costs money. My suspicion is that he didn't really care if they were registered or not, solong as someone bought the puppies. They may also not really be registered. *IF* he can locate the papers of the parents, perhaps you can help him get the litter registered - but I wouldn't count on it. You do have a grievance if you paid for a registered puppy, but otherwise, you could just as easily get an ILP number so you could participate in the AKC performance events - even a mutt can get that.
How do I find out if my dog is ACA and AKC registered ?
I bought a puppie. I was told she is AKC and ACA registered. Every time I call the breeder about getting her papers I am told they are still working on sending them to her and she will send them to me. How can I find out if this puppie is really a registered puppie? I am about to think I was sold a dog with no papers at all.

You should practice drive the block a week in advance to know the roads and the issues. Parallel park till you can put that car next to the curb between cars perfectly. Practice for hours. Be out of the car before you start. Walk around it to check the car (tires, lights, safety items). Get in, and seat belt. Then put the key in the ignition. DO NOT BRING FRIENDS, just the licensed driver and make sure they have it with them (and the cars registration and insurance up to date). Check seat mirrors and then start car. Make sure tester has belt on. Do not move until he/she has. Use signals no matter what. Best failure (other than accidents), be in the right lane on a left turn from a one way street. You need to be far left so no one can cut between your door and the curb. This will fail you every time. (Even worse on motorcycles.) Clarify all directions. They may not be looking up, but they know the test course inside and out. I took mine in a snow storm, did the 3pt on a hill in a manual. (And passed.) Remember that test lets you operated a vehicle that could kill your family and mine, make it for all it's worth for you, not just to pass the test. Good luck. (I'm in NY too.)
