How Can I Make My Bird Like Me More

Why do my birds hate me?

first you have two. it is hard to get a pair to befriend you. you might try separating them and working with one at a time. it's not a hate thing like you understand it, it's a protection thing. you are not like them and they know it. that's why you should have started with only one.

Bird won't shut up?

Our neighbors gave us their bird for free(now I know why) in the summer. Well, now he won't shut up, he is always squacking(that is the word right?) and I tell my dad and brother not to pay attention to him because it will make him do it more. My brother calls me an idiot and yells at the bird and throws stuff at him, my dad feeds him and takes him out of the cage.

I am very annoyed with the bird, like I finally get everyone to be quiet while I'm recording, and as soon as I hit the first note for the song, the bird starts squacking very loudly and ruins the recording.

I told my parents we should get rid of him, 2 months later we still have him. Even though my dad told me we would get rid of him. Worse is my parents think the bird likes me, because he always squacks when I am in the living room. I didn't know that him trying to attack me means he likes me. The bird attacks my 6 year old brother, attacks me, and has attacked my 13 year old brother a few times now.

Any way to convince my parents to get rid of him?

Why do birds like parrots like me?

For some reason today we decided to go to a drive-thru zoo. After driving around we went to the petting zoo tye thing they had there. I automatically went to the birds because i find them interesting to look at. Well this one bird, his name was charlie well he would scream at my friends but they left and went to the other birds and tryed to get them to do stuff but this bird he would start a loud crying type thing when i left or make a loud alarm noise and i would back and he would mumble to me but i couldn't hear him so i just kinda listened. Eventually i was able to leave and went to were my friends were and this one bird was standing there and music was playing and i decided to kinda dance alittle and i was standing there dancing sorta and i look and the birds were dancing too there were 8 and some of them were doing it. I started laughing and this one started laughing with me and he copied my friends laugh and after that all the bird were laughing. And after that i was talking to them. I started a riot when i left they all were calling me back. So i walked back and they wouldn't pay attention to my friends.
like everywhere i go animals just come to me and i don't even have to look at them or see them they just come to me. especially birds they love me. i don't really understand why the animals do this. People actually get mad at their dogs or cats or whatever animal it is cause they see me and don't leave half the time. Why do they do this? I know it's not normal for everybody but i would like a reason as to why.

Do pet birds love their owners?

Depends on WHO. People who have birds that “own them” usually do love their owners. These birds will pine for and call out for their favorite human it they aren’t in sight or go on a trip and have them cared for by others in their absence. Despite having their basic needs me they miss their special people very much.A lot of birds are social and would prefer to spend 80%-99% of their day with their favorite person/people. This is their flock. Often they will “flock call” to check on the whereabouts and safety of their human when out of sight. Some birds really love to cuddle. Not all, but ones who have bonded strongly usually enjoy cuddling and receiving scritches. How they cuddle can vary from bird to bird. I’ve had birds that love to nestle just beneath my chin, some like to snuggle with you into blankets, some will roll onto their backs and chill, some will nuzzle your face, etc.Birds are not for everyone. Some of the ways they show their love is to some a major turn off…like being regurgitated on. This is an attempt to “nourish” their human. If this happens try to remember the bird obviously cares enough about you and your survival to “feed” you. If you’re loved you will probably get a lot of “preening time” getting a little “birdie spa treatment” of sorts where your eyebrows, eyelashes and hair gets styled. My birds have always had a lot of freedom to do as they please. They often “Choose” to spend most of that time with me. Even when exploring, I get checked up on routinely to make sure I am okay and still there. If I leave the room while my bird is out…..he will come looking for me “flock calling” the entire time. It doesn’t matter how interested he was at that moment doing something else…Mama is out of view!!~!My sweet darling now fly’s back to me regularly during his free time. I’d say that that shows some love and enjoyment of companionship as well.

Why does my bird bite my shirt?

Cockatiels like to shred stuff--paper and fabric are good for shredding. I have an old t-shirt that I let my tiel chew holes in all she wants. She knows it's hers to shred too, and never fails to make the holes bigger every chance she gets.

Just be patient with him and give him some time to get used to you. It'll take a little while yet. Remember, you look like a big, scary predator to your cockatiel, so you need to go slow and give him time to figure it out.

Why Do Birds Like Shiny Things?

Could be nesting issues. When I was little me and my sisters went to the park, birds I think crows would swoop down and pull our hair out. We have (had, years ago) shiny black long hair. I remember our mom saying the birds need stuff to make their nest, and giving us sugar water cos now I understand my mom saw how scared we were. I see nests here that have fallen from a tree with shiny things embedded in them, I am wondering if the crows think the brightness will calm their chicks. Will research. Thank you for an intriguing question that has brought back childhood memories.
