How Can I Relieve My Period Pains/cramps

Why do my period cramps feel like labor pain?

Medical professionals please feel free to correct me where I’m wrong, but I think I have the correct high-level gist at least.Well, they basically are contractions. When your body decides that its current uterine lining won’t be used, it wants to get rid of it. The way your body does this is by releasing a hormone (FSH) that stimulates your smooth muscles*.Some of these smooth muscles are found in your lady business area, and the FSH stimulates the smooth muscle in the myometrium layer of the uterine wall to make regular contractions that will push the unused lining out (think about squeezing a washcloth). And yes, the same muscles make the contractions used to push babies out of the same place.Speaking of painful contractions…Unfortunately, smooth muscles also occur elsewhere in the body. Like your intestines. The hormone isn’t always terribly specific, you see, so it can incidentally stimulate contractions in, say, your intestines. Now, we have tiny contractions going on in your intestines all the time, pushing your food along the tubes as part of the digestive process. But the extra push from the FSH can make the contractions a bit unruly and painful. These are our cramps. This is also why women often get diarrhea along with their periods, because the contractions are pushing the contents of the intestines out to the bowel before the digestive process is finished with them.* Your body has three kinds of muscle:Striated muscle, which is the kind we think of as muscles. The meaty bits on your legs and arms etc. that we consciously use to move around.Smooth muscle, which is found on the inside of you in the walls of most of the organs that stuff needs to move through, like your intestines, bladder, blood vessels, etc. Your body sends out signals to these muscles to make them contract in waves to move their contents along (peristalsis).Heart muscle, which is so special and important it gets to be its own category.

Does tums relieve cramps?

No Ibuprofen is the best thing for cramps. You can take 4 of the regular 200 mg over the counter Ibuprofen. Do not exceed that for the next 6 hours. Don't do this more than twice a day. You can over dose on this but 800mgs is safe for the average human.

Does pooping relieve period cramps?

Pooping, is it supposed to relieve period cramps? Or is it supposed to make the cramps worse?

Cause everytime I get my period, usually on the first or second day I get these really intense menstrual cramps and along with it, the need to poop. When I poop, the pushing motion of me pushing my poop out makes my cramps feel less painful and makes me feel so much better. Is this normal? It makes me wanna push even harder sometimes.

I'm sorry for the graphic descriptions but this is what goes on in my life.

What helps period cramps go away faster?

For me, personally, it hasn't been medication, it's been water. Since I first got my period when I was 10, I've always had horrible horrible cramps. Like, In bed for the first two days of every period because I can't even stand up because of the pain. Spending hours daily crying from my cramps. And when I had to be put on hormone meds because of some health problems, my Cramps just got worse. But because of my hormone meds, it's given me really dry mouth so I started drinking a lot of water, like A LOT of water. And about a year ago, I had been drinking almost 100 oz of water a day. One month last year, a few days before my period was supposed to start, I was drinking even more water than that. When I got my period, I didn't have any cramps. Usually the first two days are the worst and I spend all day In bed for cramps. But for the first time since In 11 years, I hadn't had any cramps at all the whole duration of my period. It was crazy. So I drank that much water the following month before and during my period, and I had no cramps again. So I decided to test my theory, and I didn't drink that much water the following month and I had really bad cramps again. Like In bed and couldn't move, type of cramps. So now I drink like a ton of water before I start my period. More water than I normally drink during the day. And when I stay on top of drinking water, I get very little to no cramps. When I don't drink as much water, I get cramps.I barely have to take midol anymore when I'm on my period. I just drink water non stop during the day.

How to treat terrible period cramps?

Period cramps are terrible. I'm 16 and I've experienced period cramps so bad that I could hardly walk. But this doesn't mean it's unnatural. It's just a normal body function us girls have to go through unfortunately. Period cramps can be treated naturally or through medication.
If you prefer the natural root, you could either have long baths (it will help relax your tense muscles), you could put something warm on it like a hot-water bottle or something alike, drink lots and lots of water, eat healthily (eating lots of junk food won't help the pain at all) and just relaxing by taking your mine of it by doing something you enjoy and laying down.
If you prefer to have medication (which I'd only advice using when you are really bad), then I'm sure you, or a guardian/parent, can pick up some drugs from any drugstore/superstore that are made specifically for period cramps. I personally don't like taking medication for it, but I do advice it when you are really bad.
If you still feel bad tomorrow, tell your mother/carer and ask for the day off. There is no point trying to make yourself work when you aren't feeling up to it.
I hope you feel better soon.

Teen girls: Can ginger ale take period cramps away or ease pain?

I doubt it. I have no idea how it would.

If you don't want cramps then it's best to try and prevent them. Take some pain reliever before the pain starts, and you'll see that it doesn't get bad at all.
