Which is the best antivirus to remove shortcut virus?

It is important to observe the virus very closely. I take the case of pendrive to explain the issue.Let's assume that you want to copy a document from a public PC. When you plug that pendrive in your PC, you are amazed, shocked and disheartened (may be!) To see that all your files are gone and there is a peculiar shortcut in the drive.Actually, the files went hidden. Now either the public PC or your PC could be infected. In search of the files if you oppen the shortcut then congratulations! Your PC is now infected. Everytime you now insert a flashdrive, all the files will hide themselves and create a simple shortcut so that the shortcut can be used to infect other systems.Never open the shortcut if you want your little kitten healthy. Instead there is a CMD command to retrieve all the files back all in one go.To remove the virus from pendrive, safeguard your files first and then a run a full scan of the pendrive. If the shortcut gets deleted then the drive is clean. If it doesn't, the drive needs to be formatted. To remove the malware from a PC, first of all run a full system scan. Chances are, virus won't be caught. Next step is open up the CMD as admin and type “sfc /scannow".Wait for the process to complete. This process will ensure that damaged windows files are restored back.

I have WinBlue Soft virus on my vista laptop - i can't remove it, have tried stopzilla etc but won't download?

I think you may need more in depth info here because you may not be able to install Malwarebytes if you haven't got the program or you won't be able to run Malwarebytes.

The removal instructions and the program to download is in the link.

http://www.besttechie.net/2009/06/03/win...

This is one method to install Malwarebytes but if it failed, then see 'work-around method.' and see Besttechie's 2nd post for unable to install Malwarebytes.

Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file > Go to 'Properties' > Rename it to 'whatever.exe' and then double-click it to run

If you can install but not be able to run Malwarebytes, then follow these instructions:

Right click on the shortcut of Malwarebytes > go to 'Properties' > go to 'Find Target' (for Vista, go to 'Open File Location') > rename it, for instance 'ucblues.exe' and then double-click on it to run, not the shortcut (unless you rename it from within the shortcut itself, as well).

Another method is to rename by exe extension to .bat, .com, .pif, or .scr and then double-click on it to run. For instance 'mbam.bat' and so on.

For the 'work-around method' you will need access to a clean computer and usb stick, cd or a flash drive to transfer over. If you're not sure on what to do or not feeling confident, get someone to do it for you. Ignore the comments about using ComboFix, don't attempt to use that tool unless you were told to download and being under supervision from a trained helper.

By the way, don't bother with STOPzilla - that program is crapware and definitely won't be able to remove this kind of malware. It's not free either
