How can I help my mother to stress less?

Yrs ago I almost had a stress related heart attack so I know exactly where you are coming from.

My cardiologist ordered me to take a stress management class, it was held at the hospital. You might want to check with your local hospitals to see if any offer the same. When I took it, it was free of charge.

I was also ordered to stay away from caffeine because as we all know, it's a stimulant.

He also ordered me to cut back on my work related activities and work hours. I was working a lot of overtime at the time.

Another thing he suggested, and which I tried and found to work wonders, was biofeedback. Google it and research it. If it's something your mom might be interested in trying, see if you can find a psychologist locally who offers it. Biofeedback also works wonders for sufferers of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Have her keep a journal every day so she can figure out what her stress triggers are and find a pattern. That way you can pinpoint areas of activity or situations in her daily life that need to be either avoided or addressed.

Massage therapy also helps a lot. If she wouldn't mind going to a spa a couple of times a month, sit in a hot tub, and then get a rub down, it would do wonders to relax her.

Hope this helps. I wish both of you all the best!

What should I do to be stress-less and cool?

How can I make writing less stressful?

Writing is complex, but can also be very therapeutic once we let go of expectations and fears.UnderstandOur mind likes to make up scenarios that build-up stress in our mind. We think, “What if I don’t do well?”, or we mindread what people might expect. We cant pick a topic and feel like the task is too daunting. Your mind works hard to make a list of things that need to happen, but you can’t seem to put anything together.Understand these scenarios we build-up aren’t real. We take ourselves outside of the present. This is where we feel overwhelmed. The task becomes unmanageable.Realize- You have succeeded beforeWhen I start to write each Quora entry, I get tense. I fluster for a minute and say, “OK, how do I do this?” But, I have answered over 70 questions, and you have probably written many things before, too! Give yourself some credit when heading into a task by telling yourself something like, “I’ve done this before and I can do it again.” (Actually say it to yourself!)Clear your mindWhen you feel that negative reaction coming on, stop everything you are doing. Take a moment to slow your heart rate, loosen any tension in your muscles and just breath. Getting in tune with yourself in the present will increase focus and cognitive ability. Meditation is wonderful method to train better reactions to stress and clear your mind. Give meditation a chance by exploring various forms. It can help balance your mind and prepare you for situations.StartOnce your mind is clear, let your thoughts flow and begin writing. Having something on the page can help you build your piece. As you write, remember the previous steps to subside any road bumps. Which country has a stressless life in the world?

The answer may be the people of no country is humanly stressless, as stress is a ubiquitous emotion precipitated by various, sometimes unavoidable anxiety catalysts of life.Personally, I have lived a lot, loved some, worked a lot and paid lots of taxation. My 72nd birthday is later this year, and I plan to attend my 95th at least.Up until some 5 years ago, the primary driving force in my life was the desire to amass more and more money for some reason. The downside was to the detriment of my family time involvement.I now thank God for allowing me to see my big error, as I now understand my future is primarily to guide my children and grandchildren in matters financial within a fulfilling and balanced life - hopefully free of the many life shortening stresses of contemporary society.Having lived in both cities and small towns, the slower and friendlier pace of life in the latter allows one to “smell the roses” every day. Unfortunately, city life does not allow a carefree, traffic free, mostly pollution and noise free, pleasant pace of life that my grandparents had enjoyed.Ownership of too many possessions will be detrimental to one’s life, culminating in unforeseen unhappiness.Residing in a very large modern house and driving a new luxury car was once the pot of gold for me when I had an unwise brain. Now, the exact opposite is my choice, until I finally fall off the perch. My modest size home is 78 yo with 30 yo kitchen and bathroom that work; my car is a 1998 reliable Toyota.Shopping at the local supermarket is a 10 minutes walk. Growing of vegetables from seed gives great satisfaction, while accompanied by 4yo Border Collie “Basil” who ensures my sanity & safety. We chat often.I feel stress free, content and very happy with life, as at last I have simplified, forever. Finally, my unnecessary money is diverted to deserving people, ( of course my big kids & grandkids ) including those in dire need in several countries, affording me pleasant feelings of happiness and contentment.

Why is breaking stress less than ultimate stress?

The breaking stress isn't really less than ultimate stress! In fact it's higher. Then why does the Stress-Strain diagram say so? Well, we drew it that way!Hope it's understood that we are talking about ductile material (brittle materials doesn't have any appreciable yield, they just break when Ultimate Stress is reached, reason given below.Once the material reaches the yield point, it starts well, yielding. In many materials, yielding is accompanied by work hardening (Strain hardening). If we consider a flawless crystal structure for the material before yielding, then as it yields some flaws are introduced, called dislocations. These dislocations prevent the formation of more dislocations which means the material becomes stronger. That is the reason why stress keeps on increasing even as strain is building up. Now, note that as deformation increases, the cross section is reducing. But when we draw the stress strain diagram we are still using the original cross section of the material because keeping track of cross section as the material deforms is not easy. So, once the material passes the Ultimate stress region, the deformation is drastic which is called necking. Until necking starts the distribution of strain and hence stress is uniform throughout the cross section of the material. But, at some point, when the hardening at one local point decreases compared to rest of the cross sectional area, strain becomes concentrated in that area. The deformation then becomes localized (necking). This neck propagates through the whole area, and it finally ruptures. I don't really know the exact cause of necking; I presume it to be due to imperfections in the geometry of the structure. So, to sum it up, if you consider the actual cross sectional area at the time of breaking, the stress at which breaking occurs is more than the Ultimate stress.

Can eating less increase stress and anxiety?

Don't starve yourself!!! this can make you unhealthy and will do no good to lose weight and keep it off.

You are exactly correct, it's called a sugar drop. When your sugar levels go down, your body does not have the catalyst it needs. THe best thing to do without risking your weightloss is to eat lot's of fruit. pineapple, apples, peaches, pears, strawberries. As much as you can.

Another thing. Eating less often isn't the right way to lose weight. You don't need to be hungry. This is when your body starts breaking down muscle mass to produce protein.

Here is a great weightloss program that worked for me:

Drink lot's of water all day-don't chug, just drink.

Eat 5 small meals a day...eat them abnormally slow, and eat till you don't feel hungry, but not till you feel full. Try to make the morning and brunch meals to have as much protein as you can and as little fat(it's better if you can get shakes. Make your third meal a normal one--tacos, pizza, whatever. Make your fourth a salad with a small amount of lowfat meat in it. make your fifth meal have lot's of protein, but make it a normal, but healthy meal, like steak and potatoes. Always be sure to stay away from unsaturated fats. Try to soak up the grease off your pizza and things like that.

Always excercise in the morning before your first meal. The key is not to do some random push-yourself-workout routine. You should excercise the same amount of time each day, like 30 minutes. While you're in that routine, do all the same exercises, but each time, push yourself a little harde, not faster, just harder. Don't go over the average time per day though.

The whole key to this diet is to make it routine. change your meals everyday, but keep all the times, and exercises the same. Make sure you believe in yourself.

Is there a way to make my water changes less stressful on my fish?

hope this helps!
