How Can You Get Your Fishing Line Unstuck Of Something Far Out In The Water

How can you get your fishing line unstuck of something far out in the water?

I was cat fishing the other night and my pole broke. It's opencast and my dad said to use my grandpas pole which is real big and opencast. I couldn't cast good so my friend decided to swim the line out until there was like 20 feet of line left on the pole and it is far out. I woke up and went to go check it and it is stuck on something big. There are turtles in the water by me and it's a lake. My pole and another one of my poles broke the same way it feels. It is nearly impossible to reel and then whatever it is stuck on lets go it feels when really the line snaps. Anyway, back to my grandpas pole the line is still stuck because I think he would get mad if the line snapped my dad said it's probably a log and I need to know how to get it unstuck. Please, help me so he won't be mad. The house belongs to him that's why the pole is here. And if it is a turtle how do I get that off the line to reel in without it snapping. Help:(

What's the best way to remove a fish bone stuck in your throat?

Hi there, I know this is an older post but I am posting my experience in case its helpful for other people. I just came back from the hospital. I had a small bone from a sardine that got stuck in my throat since last Saturday (6 days). I felt it pinching me everytime I tried to turn my head to the left (it was stuck on the left side close to my tonsils). I waited over the weekend hoping it will go away on its own, but that didnt happen. I tried bread, banana, olive oil, vinegar, marshmallow and nothing did it for me. On monday i visited an ENT privately. She used a small camera, I believe its called endoscope and examined my tongue, tonsils and the area below. She couldnt see any bone but noticed a wound. She reassured me the bone is gone and that Im just having a foreign body sensation as a result of the bone scratching me. She prescribed an oral antiseptic and told me it should resolve within 3 days. Well, 2 days later no improvement at all. Same sensation. Kind of inflamed feeling and sharp pinches when I moved a particular way. So yesterday (day 5), I visited a public hospital and went to urgent care. An ENT examined me literally for 2 mins, said no bone was to be found and prescribed me antibiotic for 5 days. I insisted there was something wrong but she dismissed me saying it was all in my head, and even if there was a bone somewhere, the antibiotics would dissolve it (biggest BS I’ve ever heard). Today, day 6, I trusted my gut and visited another hospital. They found the bone in a matter of seconds. Go with your gut, and insist for further examination if your symptoms dont improve within 2 days.

If you were stuck in the woods and could bring one item, what would it be?

In survival, there's a rule called the rule of three:You can live 3 minutes without airYou can live 3 hours without shelterYou can live 3 days without waterYou can live 3 weeks without foodEverything else is luxury. Once we've satisfied these things we can consider escape. So how do we ensure we can provide these things for ourself?Well, air, hopefully is a given. But maybe not.Shelter… well, having an axe would certainly make it easier to build a shelter.Water… where are we going to find it? What are we going to carry it in? How are we going to purify it to make it potable?Food… what are we gonna eat? Nuts? Berries? Legumes? Leaves? Meat? So what do I need to gather these? A basket, a bow and arrows, a gun and ammunition, a spear, a trap?So what single item would go some way to help satisfy all of these requirements?I think, on reflection of all this, I'd take my survival knife. I can use that to cut small branches to fashion a shelter. I can use it to fashion some kind of bowl which I can waterproof with resin which I can make from pine trees to carry water. I can use it to fashion a spear, or cut cordage to make a snare or trap and harvest meat. I can use animal skins to carry water. So now all I need to figure out is water purification. The last thing I want is dysentery while I'm stuck out here. I can make fire no problem, but what do I boil the water in? I can take two rocks and hollow the softer one out with the harder one to make a stone bowl which I can put in or near enough the fire. It'll be slow and tedious, but doable. So there we have it, my survival knife. It may not be big and fancy, it may not provide me any luxury, but with my own ingenuity and ability to adapt and think, my survival knife will make things a lot easier.

If a plunger and drain cleaner didn't work, what options can I try to unclog a stuck bathroom sink before calling a plumber?

Generally, chemical drain cleaners do not work.  They can do a moderately good job of breaking down superficial clogs of soaps and grease, but that's a small percentage.  Most tub and shower drains are clogged with hair, toilets with foreign objects, and kitchen sinks by food waste that should have been scraped into the trash.  Each of these requires a different approach. The hair clog can usually be accessed from the drain itself or from the overflow on tubs.Sink drains ares designed with a trap under them that remains full of water for health reasons, they stop sewer gas entering the home.  You can remove this trap to get rid of most sink backups, be prepared for a spray of water and, thanks to your earlier mistake, chemicals like acids and alkalis. Those chemicals also sometimes etch the sinks, tubs, and so on permanently.Getting the foreign object that's clogging the toilet often requires removing and resetting of the toilet and gets quite involved.  Frequently it's that comb you lost from your back pocket.

Do cat fish go in the mud to live?

l'm not sure of the larger species of cats but bullheads can and do burrow into the mud to live through dry periods when a pond or dtream will go completely dry. same as the african catfish l'm pretty sure you have seen on the discovery channel popping out of the riverbed when the rainy season starts.

rose valley lakes in ventura county (CA) has a permanent population of bullheads. l have seen the lakes completely dry more than once.
no, they are not stocked by DFG.

flatheads and possibly/probably channel cats will use underwater burrows from beavers and such as hiding places and spawning sites.

How can I unclog a toilet with a bar of soap stuck in it?

There are alot of really bad answers on here - Number one - pouring boiling water in your toilet will likely crack it because of the non-uniform temperature change and then you'll need a new toilet. Two using a coat hanger in your toilet will 99 times out of a hundred scratch the dickens out of the enamel in the toilet making you wish you needed a new toilet. Yes you could probably wait and wait and wait and wait for the soap to dissolve but if you dont feel like waiting the answer is a toilet auger which should have a rubber 90 on it to prevent scratching your toilet up to bits. If you stick it two feet or so and turn the handle for a while you'll break the soap up into pieces. Another thing which I might try if I were there would be to just use a large shop vac if you have one - place the hose in toilet and seal it down in the hole in the bottom of the bowl by placing a hand towel around it - if the vaccuum's powerful enough - I often find I can suck toys, dog bones, etc up and avoid pulling toilets off the floor to remove objects. Good Luck.

Changing batteries in my beard clippers I accidentally dropped a AA battery which went down the drain to my bathroom sink. ( had the stopper up ).
