How Come Everton Didn

Everton Fans Are Deluded?

Why do Everton fans keep on gloating as if they are some dominant team on Merseyside?

-No trophy for 17 years
-No win over Liverpool since 2010

Keep on dreaming bitters.

Why did Everton sell Rooney?

There were probably a number of reasons but basically it boils down to his wage against his possible contribution next season.Rooney was apparently on a £160k per week contract. That made him best paid player at the club by some margin. Last season saw three different managers trying to fit him into the system along with Gylfi Sigurdsson and none of the attempts really worked. If Rooney played the #10 role it pushed Sigurdsson wide where he isn’t as effective and neither was Rooney particularly good in that role. He played better deeper in midfield where he was able to dictate play with his range of passing and game intelligence but it left defence more vulnerable as he wasn’t very good at protecting it. He didn’t have an altogether poor season, however. He was in fact Everton’s top scorer with ten goals and many fans expected far worse but for the wages he was earning he needed to be leading the team and winning matches.Things would have been even more difficult next season as Marco Silva looks to play a more attacking, more high-octane style of football than his predecessors (Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce). With Rooney’s legs going Silva would have found it very difficult to find Rooney any role in the team. At £160kpw he should be starting every week and this was not going to happen.

Why didn’t Sergi Roberto move to a club like Everton or West Ham for more playing time as Semedo will likely be the 1st right back?

A player like Sergi Roberto is more versatile than most players in EPL.He is a trained CDM/CM from La Masia who has been tactically switched to a RB position. One should see him play for Barca in Cup (Copa Del Rey)fixtures, when he is a CM.He is definitely a first team player till now in all major competitions for Barca. He does not need to shift currently.Valverde has also used him as a Right Winger who drops deep sometimes.Hence he will not be moving anytime soon.

Did you feel sorry for Everton yesterday?

^ ^^ ^^^

What a bunch of nobheads ........ Everton denied 2 pens of the most obvious kind you'll ever see ..... and as Shearer and Hanson said Kuyt's lunge was the worst assault ever seen on a football field he doesn't just want banning he needs to spend a real long time in prison !!!!!!!

and as for fat Stevie telling the ref to send Hibbert off ..... he should be sent off himself ..... a f*cking disgrace made our league a laughing stock of the world !!!!

How did David Moyes do so well at Everton considering how poor the rest of his career was?

The job at United was basically impossible. Ferguson hadn’t really built the squad with his successor in mind for the last few years. And following the greatest manager ever in the British Isles would have been a daunting task to everyone. Of course Moyes helped his own downfall with some of his signings, too, but as his successors have shown they haven’t really recovered even by now.I can sort of understand him going to Spain next, both to get away from the disappointment and to go overseas once in his career. By that point he had been managing in England for 16 years. I’m not sure what went wrong there, but I think he made a poor career choice with Sunderland. They had a poor squad with some unhealthy things going on at the club (a drinking culture for one). I think Moyes underestimated the problems there and thought he could basically repeat what he did at Everton when he arrived.Moyes is not perhaps a quick-fix manager. He needs time to build a squad of players he can trust. I think he got a bit lucky in the 2004–05 season. Next season was much harder (Everton finished 17th) but gradually he built a squad he could get the best out of. He doesn’t appear to be the best man-manager which could explain this. If the squad is full of players who don’t appreciate his methods he will have a hard time (such as at ManU). He doesn’t seem to work well with primadonnas, he needs honest pros who do what they are told. This is why things worked out so well with players like Tim Cahill, Steven Pienaar, Mikel Arteta, Leighton Baines, Tim Howard and Phil Jagielka. These players created a great team spirit and with Moyes knowing exactly what he could ask of each of his players having worked so long with them he was able to maximise the results with little money. So he would really need another long-term project with a club that gives him time instead of saving teams from trouble. He’s not really at his best in those situations.

As an Everton fan, do you think the hate on Wayne Rooney by some Everton fans was justified?

To understand this you have to understand who Wayne Rooney was to a lot of Evertonians at the time. When Wayne broke through he was seen as almost the new messiah at Goodison. Financial screw ups at board level had wrecked the team and the heady days of glory from just the previous decade couldn't have looked farther away. Then a lad steps up who not only is hugely talented but was in every way ‘'one of us’ he was a reminder that we were still in the fight and didn't have to accept mediocrity as aspiration. He showed the ‘once a blue’ tshirt and was adored for it. Then he left. To some Evertonians all that hope and emotional investment left with him. With cold logic it was the right decision for all involved. Wayne went on to win everything winnable with Utd and made a kings fortune. Everton used the then astronomical fee to avoid insolvency and keep their noses just above the water until Sky's billions and Mr Moshiri helped us turn the corner. There will always be those who won't forgive or forget watching their dreams disappear down the M62 to Old Trafford though.

Why did Everton fail to reach the top 4 or even 5 in the EPL?

The obvious answer is the team was not good enough. It was clear a year ago that there were serious issues with the squad. There were positions that needed strengthening and overall squad depth was lacking. Problem was, it took a while to sign Ronald Koeman as the new manager and Steve Walsh as the Director of Football. So they didn’t have enough time to improve the squad last summer. This was very evident from late September to early December when the team struggled in the league. So much so that some fans were calling for Koeman’s head. This period is the main reason the club was really out of running for a top four spot. During this time the team played 10 games and managed just one win (against West Ham) and four draws. Obviously there was also a bedding-in time as Koeman is a very different manager to Roberto Martinez and the team was still learning the new style. There was still a small chance of catching the top four in the beginning of April, but the loss to Liverpool and draw with Manchester United in consecutive games pretty much meant it wasn’t in the team’s hands anymore. They did win the next two games easily but results elsewhere meant a top four was barely theoretically possible in mid-April and the team basically downed the tools at that point.Lack of depth was an issue all through the season. When Gana Gueye was missing in the first half of the season, midfield struggled (this was clearly evident in the 5–0 loss to Chelsea) and Baines missed several games early in the season and there’s no real alternative for left back. The first issue was helped with the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin in the January transfer window. Lack of depth up front was a problem in many games, especially after summer signing Yannick Bolassie was injured early in the season. Barkley in particular had a stop-start season and as he was supposed to be the main creative player in the side when he struggled, the team often struggled. Lack of depth was evident in the last games of the season when even Arouna Kone got some game time (his contract is ending and will leave the club after that).Away form was poor as well, but it’s hard to say what caused it. Lack of depth was obviously one but often performance of the entire team was below par for some reason.

Why did Liverpool F.C. steal the Anfield stadium from Everton F.C.?

Not a Liverpool or Everton fan but there was no theft I was told this story years ago. If my dates are wrong please correct:Liverpool FC didn’t steal the Anfield stadium from Everton FC as they did not exist at that point. Everton left Anfield due to sheer distrust and uncertainty caused by Anfield's then owner.Everton were the first tenants at Anfield from 1884 till 1892 and originally derived from the then adjacent St Domingos Church. But they never owned it they rented from a Brewer and Conservative (Tory) Politician called Houlding. He himself was subletting half of the site from the Orrell family. As Everton got more successful Houlding rose the rent accordingly. But things turned when the Orrell decided to sell the other half of the land that Anfield was on. Houlding largely put Everton in the dark and in buying the 2nd half used it to hike charges up (he initially stated that Everton should now pay double) plus he got the proceeds from refreshments at the ground which was another reason for discontent. Things then got even more murky it then turned out that the Orrell family still had right of way to build a road through the ground as they owned a patch of land behind it. Everton could not believe Houlding didn’t know about this and started looking for another ground. Houlding then settled this with Orrell by buying this land and then said he would use this to build athletics facilities which Everton of course would fund. Everton by this stage were heading for the exit.Everton had the funds and the will and support to build a stadium of their own at Goodison Park where they could be stable and be in charge of their own affairs. This is where they started referring to themselves as the people’s club . They left Anfield in March 1892.Houlding needed to fill his stadium so created Liverpool Football and Athletic club in August 1892. So Liverpool FC did not steal Anfield but they were created by a Tory Politician!

Why didn't Manchester United play against Southampton like Everton?

Hi,1. Against Southampton, United played a 2 man midfield with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic which Paul Pogba playing in a deeper role.2. Because Paul Pogba played a deeper role, United lacked creativity up front.3. Mkhitaryan played as a left winger in the game and did not deliver any crosses from the left-hand side.4. Lukaku was injured 8 mins into the game and was replaced by Marcus Rashford.5. Paul Pogba is crucial to United creating chances and also pivotal in counter-attacks but because he was not given the freedom to do that United barely attacked in the game.Coming to the Everton game, United played a three-man mid with Paul Pogba playing in the left side of it which gave freedom to create chances. In the absence of Lukaku, the movement up front by Martial and Lukaku was very good. Also, Luke Shaw linked up very well with Paul Pogba in the second half of the Everton game.Owing to the above-mentioned points, United were better against Everton than Southampton.United are better in creativity when Paul Pogba is given that freedom to move forward.ThanksGGMU
